Quoted from wolverinetuner:Looks great, Blake! Big Deal is high on my wish list, and yours is really looking nice. Once you’re done, I’d appreciate it if you’d post your touch-up colors on the touch-up paint color thread, if you have them available. I know you’ve been there before, but here’s a link:

Thanks.
Thanks. I'm excited to play it when its all buttoned up. As for the touch up paints, I have been terrible keeping track of what I used to create my matches. I do however have a couple of direct matches that I will post.
Quoted from koji:Sys1 flipper mech in golden arrow?
Yes. The new style flipper mech started around Surf Champ.
Quoted from koji:Sys1 flipper mech in golden arrow?
I also have a Golden Arrow and can confirm that is the correct mech.
Black Jack EM back on its legs and in the restoration position. It runs and everything works, just a tad gummy. BGResto backglass ready to install, but the playfield needs a top and bottom overhaul and restoration. Appears to be HUO with 20k plays and a very restorable but filthy playfield. Second to last Bally EM made, somewhat scarce at 120 made, but I found it on Marketplace with no takers after a month. Should clean up well.

the proto type atlantis was the first. they were a little bit different but gottlieb did not use them in the production run, they waited until surf champ many games later

proto type flipper assembly on the right compared to assembly from surf champ on.

Science project I did, worst backglass yet. I tried all sorts of paints including rattle can.

Wow, a SS -> EM conversion!

Did they use a conventional EOS switch on the prototype mech instead of the newer style EOS? The mount is about the only thing I can see as different but I can't visualize the switch they may have used there.
Finished up the light board on the Merry Go Round. The reels all cleaned up nicely. One had some damage due to the lamps rubbing but touched up well. All relays and steppers de-gunked and cleaned and adjusted.
The quality of materials in those older games was much superior to what came later. This board and the head itself have much better wood.20210204_152550 (resized).jpg20210204_153019 (resized).jpg20210204_163552 (resized).jpg20210204_164059 (resized).jpg20210204_164015 (resized).jpg

the proto is about 20% shorter, coil stop bracket is different and EOS mount is different can't recall if the EOS switch was different
Just picked up a beautiful Gottlieb Bronco yesterday, spent a couple years in Texas then forty years in the same basement up here. Tossed the legs right into Evaporust to get rid of a little surface rust, will post some photos when it's back together. Anyone got a PDF file of the manual and/or parts catalog they could share?
Quoted from brobra:Received this gangly crew in the mail today. All playable, but need some good TLC. 2 out of 3 had cracked shooter rod housings from the trip.
[quoted image]
Oh man.. how would the rod housings get cracked if they were crated upright?
I have not seen a red/white beehive like that.. looks neat!

These were shipped legs on. I know, crappy paint job on the bee hive. I may replace the egghead playfield all together; I have access to two Nos egghead pfs. Any idea on what a good price for one of those pfs might be?
Been slowly fixing up this Italian AAB Gottliebs Play Pool. If you check back to the first post Illawarra92 was working on it then! It's all back together I just need to get the door cleaned up and on and go thru some relays in the backbox. And eventually make up stencils for it.

Looking pretty tight, bro.
Getting cranking on Old Chicago - finally began readying the CPR playfield for the swap; boring photo shows all holes drilled, shank screws in, tomorrow I'll add the painted rails and move components over.
I'm changing a few things aesthetically - teal bumper skirts and posts, purple lane guides, and a few LEDs below the playfield - 2SMD under the the special inserts, pink under the extra ball inserts. Using the same art scheme for the cabinet, but changing bubbles from yellow to teal. Could love it or hate it, I'm not sure.

They were used on Buccaneer in June 76 before Surf Champ.
Quoted from flipit:Just finished up cover Girl with NOS playfield. This game kicked my butt, virtually every solder joint was cold and corroded. Plays like a champ....

Glad you worked through the mechanical issues, it's a beauty! Now get to work on Playboy!!!
Quoted from Dono:it's a beauty!
My exact thoughts.
Cover Girl is one of my favs
1st wedgehead i obtained many years ago.
Still have it.

Damn! You unsoldered all those switch and wiper board wires? I just unscrew them and leave the wiring intact. I hate soldering!
Quoted from gawlicd:Thanks playdium. This playfield has 1/4 in plexi covering it. I'm guessing original doesnt? Upper Deck baseball.

Yes, looks like the original design. Check these pics out.

Very nice. Assume the coin door/trim, etc. Was sent out for plating. PBR has most of that stuff, but you can't shave in the reflection!
Quoted from jrpinball:Damn! You unsoldered all those switch and wiper board wires? I just unscrew them and leave the wiring intact. I hate soldering!
Lol. That’s what I worry about the most. Is that a grey wire with brown stripe or just dirty white with a grey stripe.... one mistake and poof
No photos currently, but I’m concurrently working on a Williams 3 Jokers and Gottlieb Road Race. My first Williams after a few Gottlieb...I feel like a semi-beginner again!
Stashyboy, The coin door on Cover Girl is in fact a PBR and was never replated by me. I bought several of the Doors (nickel plated) years ago from them. That's how they used to be.
Quoted from Kickout:Pick up a Williams River Boat 1964 EM. Going to start stripping it down and cleaning it this week.

Nice reversey! I got one this week as well, unfortunately not as nice. Sat for decades without glass on it. Sad to see that kind of neglect. The good news was lots of good parts and a mostly solid cabinet.(parted out for others to live)

Also about to finish the build up of this.

Yet another add a ball with a single coin chute. Can someone give me a reasonable explanation of why anyone in their right mind that's trying to maximize earnings with a machine on site would want a game with a single coin chute? A downed coin chute and your machine is making nada. When I was playing back in the day, all games had at least 2 and sometimes 3 chutes. I remember many times at least one chute jammed or not working... because of this why have a game with only one chute? Makes 0 sense.

One coin slot was the way the AAB games shipped from the factory.

That's because they were replay games. I don't think the intention of multiple coin chutes was ever "in case of failure", rather, to accommodate the purchase of additional credits at a somewhat discounted rate, or to accept multiple coin denominations. You don't generally see multiple coin chutes on any other coin operated devices (I'm sure there are exceptions) in case one of them jams.
What about those sixties Williams games which used those big coin mechs? All single chute, and designed to accept nickels, dimes, or quarters.
Quoted from jrpinball:What about those sixties Williams games which used those big coin mechs? All single chute, and designed to accept nickels, dimes, or quarters.
Yeah, pretty neat. The coin mech is so large they had to drop the cabinet front to accommodate.

Back in those days, pocket change was much more plentiful, there were no debit cards to pay for things,
One was always getting change in return for purchases, change burning a hole in ones pocket,
lots of dimes and nickels.
Now days if I do get any change, it goes straight out of my pocket and into my change collection jar,
so I invariably never have any change on me anymore.
Almost nothing costs less than a dollar anymore.
Quoted from AlexF:Yeah, pretty neat. The coin mech is so large they had to drop the cabinet front to accommodate.

Wow! Any chance we could see some more pics?
