Just finished a C37 pf swap. And in parallel prepped an Atlantis cab for painting. Got both colors done today. Tomorrow we'll get the other side done.

Montana black "hippie" for the green, Montana white "kidney bean" for the red/brown

Getting close with the Gay 90's — waiting on a coil from Marco. Total playfield repaint using airbrush and stencils.

Since several folks have posted pinballs on this thread, I will too! ( There is a separate thread just for Em pinballs I believe) This one is sort of a hybrid in my opinion. Early pre war pinball, With miniature football players that move and ball kickers. Very rare, only a handful in existence to my knowledge. ABT All Stars. Both cabinet sides had to be replicated/and replaced along with minor touch ups and shopped out. Upgraded power supply.

Looks great. How did you do the white letters?

#1455 3 years ago
Quoted from Silverstreak02:

The playfield was sanded clean. Everything was painted with paint mask stencils cut on a Silhouette Cameo and an airbrush.

The whole painted area was first painted white, so some white lettering is the colour painted around it (letters masked off).

Williams Super Star needed a new ring set and cosmetic attention. Here is the finished product. I had hoped to start Bally Black Jack EM restoration after Super Star, but now Rancho has a start problem.

Havent had much time to work on my machine. But here is a current picture. I have a lot of paint touch up where my stencils didn't line up. Plus rounding out my curves. Wont be long before I can play it!

How do you like your superstar? I’m hot and cold about mine but it’s a fast player for the era so I’m leaning towards keeping mine.

I think Super Star is a very under rated game. It is very difficult to find a nice one, but yes, it plays very quick.

#1462 3 years ago

I loved playing Super Star. Simple and can be chaotic when set up on the fast side. Underrated game, probably due to the art. Yours looks great! Mine was pretty beat up, so I re-themed it.

Today I made two new switch blades on this Point Unit stack. The tip of the original blade had sheered from years of the lever pushing on it.

Now it will correctly add games on the free play unit.

This seems to be a pretty popular title these days! Extremely hard to find one especially with the original paint. Not mine but I wish it was!

Doing repairs and maintenance on a Bally Fireball Home Edition, will also start working on a Bally Wizard!, a Segasa #GrandRoyale and probably all the other games in the picture:

Looking at your photo... just a note to all EM junkies out there contemplating an Old Chicago repro playfield... CPR's latest run is now available, and let me tell ya, they're absolutely stunning. Once this run sells out, me thinks that there won't be another one.

The front of this game has been bothering me for far too long. Someone white washed the entire front so I’m in the garage grinding off all the paint. The door bracket took longer than expected. Coin returns took longer than expected because of all the curves. Wearing all sorts of gear but I’m hoping the paint is lead free since this was likely painted many years later.

Now to do the coin door....

Any multiplayer gottliebs use the Abra Ca Dabra layout? I know the El Dorado layout is used acrossed many games. I like the layout but don't want to own any single player games.

Thanks,

Tuning my up a gtb 65 kings & queens
When I rollover ks or qh (which are on different relay banks), the other gets activated. Also not scoring 10, 20, 30 in all holes.
Working the banks. Not totally scary as it looks, but I’ll probably two steps back, lol.

I am working on a Capt Fantastic and the person I got it from said it worked before being stored. Are there any cliff notes on what steps to takes to get it functioning again? I can research how to adjust the parts, but just wondering what to look for first to narrow down the issue.

The GI bulbs light up when turned on, and the knocker coil was constantly running due to a stuck switch which I quickly fixed, so at least I know there is power properly flowing through the machine. But I hear no other noises happening and no other moving parts occuring when the machine is turned on.

How is it there wasn't wear at the top kickout holes?

Quoted from MikeO:

Pin Up generally doesn't have very much.wear from the kickouts. Gottlieb changed the springs and coils for a less aggressive kick from King Pin. This had just a little bit. I also think it was a low plays game maybe 30 to 40000 judging by the amount of wear elsewhere on the game. Drop target mechanisms etc.

they had the same coils and mechs the reason pin up tends to have less wear is that AAB games generally had less plays overall. you can see it on all replay/aab games of course there are always the few exceptions

Bringing a Bally Bow And Arrow back to life it's up and working just waiting on parts now to finish it off. B&A was the first game I owned 32 years ago glad to come full circle and have one back in the line up taking a nice long break from chasing games for a while.

Not according to Steve Young....at least the spring is different. I agree they got less play, but if you compare the worn areas, Pin Up does not push the ball as far as King Pin, more of a dribble.

Is this a decent choice for a bench grinder/buffer? I would like to start using a buffing wheel as opposed to hand polishing.

So I picked these guys up. I figured I would make the best of two and maybe even try my hand at my first playfield repaint on one of them since I have very little invested into them with the help of another Pinsider. The mouse house appears unscathed on the inside of the cab other than the coin chute adjustment wire. The head shows some rust on the inside of the head so that’s where most of the work will be. The other game works about 90% as it sits. One backglass is very poorly touched up and the other one is decent.

I bought the regular 3/4hp HF 8" grinder, then pulled the shroud and grinding wheel off of the right side and installed an 8" buffing wheel. Upgraded from my 1/2hp 6" and much happier. Don't think the size of the wheel makes much difference, but the extra power is really nice. And yes, it throws off a lot of junk. Made a "back stop" out of sheet aluminum bent into a shallow U shape to catch the debris thrown backward.

I fondly remember playing that game a couple of times in a local "hole-in-the-wall" bar back in the day. It was a fun player as I recall, especially when playing with multiple players.

Hardtop. This must have some thickness to it, right? How does the additional thickness affect things such as the flipper bushings, bumpers, and slingshots? Also, all the screws going into the top of the playfield are effectively shorter by the thickness of the hardtop. Just curious if the hardtop introduces any issues due to it's thickness.
