Ok thanks, wow i thought it would be worth a lot more.

Actually that one on Ebay isn't too bad a price. You see them listed for a lot more. Not sure what a realistic average is but it's a game with some great features.
There are only a handful of games that have all of the following
    woodrail cab
    running man unit
ramps with over the fence homerun
    2 player
    multiple pitch options

Just finished the playfield touch up on Jive Time, and covered the entire paint area of playfield with Mylar, yes after waxing. Polyurethaned the shooter lane. Before and after pics. Came out ok for a players game. Now to get it all back together and hope it still works.

Picked up this machine on Sunday. 1975 Top Score by Gottlieb. It might be a few days until I can get it setup in the shop but I’m always excited to have a new project.
This one is going to a good friend that has been wanting an EM for some time.

I like the photo from this post. Here is a person who has definitely figured out the best configuration to get a pin to fit in the back of the car.

How did the Montana paint react to the Pimp stencil?

    #1356 24 days ago
    Quoted from Playdium:

How did the Montana paint react to the Pimp stencil?

Not at all. I've never had a reaction to the Montana paints at all. The yellow and red are Montana and the blue is Molotow. I really like the Molotow paint.

I did have an issue with the stencil on the left side. The red stencil just flat wouldn't stick to the cab. The right side was fine. And the front was fine. I burnished it all down and when I went to peel up the top the stencil just kept coming with it. I go slow and carefully it just wasn't happening. The stencil was getting buggered up and finally I just got frustrated with it and tore it all off. I called Jeff and he's cutting me a new piece. That stencil is intricate enough with small pieces and I'd rather pay for a new piece that screw it up trying to get it to work.

Either the stencil sticky was weak or the cover was sticking really strongly to the stencil but it was a mess.

I took Jeff's advice and went with the Rust-o-Leum white can gloss. I am very happy with the results and the stencil peeled effortlessly.

    Looks great.

I've never had any issues with the stencil peeling off to cab after painting. Just a couple of issues with the stencil itself.

I used a gloss white once, on a Stargazer. Like this game lots of small pieces but even more so. Think it was Krylon. Anyway it stuck to the stencil and caused stringing of the paint on the edges and other issues. I try not to use too much gloss since then. I clear the cab with semi gloss anyway so the sheen doesn't really make much difference.

    Recently acquired a Bowling Queen,
Looks to be in great shape so no major restoring just a strip clean & re build.

Very clean looking. Nice to have the original marbleized targets and pops.

I don't think there's anything better than working on your favorite game and being able to restore it at the same time.

I'm going to have to rebuild the switch stacks on the stepper units for both games. One switch stack has broken blades and the other switch stack blades are too long to open at zero position. It's also missing the zero position post.

High score of 3,910,000 on the game I'm playing and the other game I'm working on.

Scott, that looks fantastic. I’m getting ready to pick up my new Wizard next week and the cabinet and backbox have a hideous brown faux paint on both. Might have to get some advice.

Of all the machines to cover up the artwork on.

    [quoted image][quoted image]

I’ve never seen one like that in a pinball, but that looks like a standard buzzer. The coil is wired through the switch such that when it pulls in, it breaks the connection. Then when the relay lets go, it makes contact again. Do it over and over and you get a buzz

Well said... they're cheaply made, corrosion NON-resistant, and a BITCH to unsolder and remove from the line braid, due to that stupid nub that they used to help solder them in at the factory.

Customer’s Jacks Open... good bones on this one but there were a ton of broken switch tabs underneath the playfield, and a poor choice of black rubbers discolored the posts and some light shields. Sequence and ball count steppers had issues with solidified grease and dirt buildup underneath the shoulder bolt heads.0EC1D05D-966A-4239-A82E-971646E9237C (resized).jpeg

I'm sure you will do it justice Don. I have done several lucky hand/ jacks open. They are really heavy! Late 70s Gottlieb have so many mechanisms under the Playfield and on the motor board!

For sure, if you were to really look under the playfield, what's wild is near the flips it's relatively empty, but up past the drop bank, it's outta control... two relay banks, the drop bank, the sequence step up, 3 pops, and a ton of PF switches. Not sure why the designers put the sequence step up on the PF as opposed to the mech board in the cab.

I do like Gottlieb's flipper units... very easy to service and change out flipper bats/coil stops, etc.

The Wizard is now just down to the playfield work. Motor board back in the cab, other cab internals back in, and head installed. Everything that can be tested without the playfield is working perfectly.

On the Bally sockets, it must just be my luck, but I have restored several Bally games. I think I have had to replace one socket on all of them. My Surfers was stored for 20 years and when I got it going again every single bulb worked.

Wizard has a ton of bulbs in the lightboard for GI. This game wasn't overly dirty but the bulbs had the normal dirt coating all over them. I removed all the bulbs and replaced them. I did no cleaning or any other kind of work on the sockets. When I turned it on today for the first time every single bulb worked. No flickering or dimming or anything. My experience has been that Gottlieb sockets are way flakier and troublesome than Wiliams or Bally.

    Anyway some more pictures

Take a bunch of pic’s of the assembly and understand how the two springs relate that keep the armature and the actuator to each relay. You start by unsoldering the relays. I usually strip the whole assembly for cleaning and after a few it’s a routine job.

In your case having one relay to change I would still remove and bring to the bench. Strip the Mechanical parts that are in the way off and remove the springs. The relays are retained with a screw and washer be sure to put it back together as before. I have dental tooth pick type of instruments to hook and unhook the springs.

Essentially after taking pictures go for it and keep taking pictures and it will done before you know it.
