Currently working on the following. Chicago Coin Super Circus, Safari, Midway's Space Gun Sega Helicopter and Jet Rocket. In the pipeline Gottlieb Hurdy Gurdy & Cowpoke and one day I'll finish CC Twin Skeet Shoot. Do you think I've taken on a bit to much? Anybody want to help? Thank God for lockdown.

Here's my final on Mata Hari. One issue Im having, withe the top glass trim plastic installed on the bg I cant close the bg latches, not enough room/glass is too tall.

Installing the lift channel I used som 3M heavy duty double-side sticky tape and there is a slight gap between the channel and glass, maybe a 1/16 of an inch.

Any suggestions? If i take the plastic trim off I can close the latches. I did add a little painters tape so the latch is not directly on the glass.

I hate to have to take the lightboard out again to access the latches.

Got the whole cabinet painted except for the neck. I goofed on the red pillar on the backbox, some masking paper lightly landed on the paint and that is all it took to completely ruin it. Will fix it later. Spray painting is extremely unforgiving.

Yellow frog tape from HD is great for taping off the boobos. if you need you can lay it right on the edge and then with a sharp exacto knife you can score the tape and follow the paint ridge. yellow is nice and translucent to help follow the design

    Quoted from jibmums:

I picked up a freebie Williams Aces & Kings several weeks ago. The previous owner had no idea how to turn it on other than pressing the start button, and asked me "what's that switch?" when I flipped the machine onto its back. Cabinet is okay, coindoor cleaned up well, backglass has just the beginnings of flaking, plastics are good, playfield has its share of wear.
Had no idea what to do with it, was thinking of parting it out but I hate to see any potentially savable/playable pins chopped up, so I've been taking parts off piece by piece and cleaning and de-rusting them while I decide. When I turn it on for the first time after sitting a while, it lights up and hums, and that's it. If I turn it off an on again, it starts resetting everything but never gets there; it'll just keep trying and trying and trying to reset. No idea what could possible be the problem as I have no experience with EM's at all.
Yes, I hope to fix it but I might as well try to learn Chinese while I'm at it. If anyone can help other than pointing me to the online guides I already know about, I'd be extremely grateful. Also, now that I'm pulling mechs to clean them up, I'm noticing detached wires that I've no idea where they might go, so if anyone else here has an Aces & Kings, *please* pm me if you wouldn't mind looking at some photos to identify where these wires/terminals should go.
For now, more metal polish and baths in Evaporust.

On my first few em's. I posted specific issues as a new help thread in EM Tech, and the great pinsiders on here pretty much walked me through each problem. And often endless reset issues are tied into score reel switches.

Got the purple layer done on the Miss-o. Time for the blue

    image (resized).jpg
    #1172 3 months ago

Think I have the black layer done on the Gay 90's repaint I'm working on. I'm going to get a screen printing place to print it as a transparency for me so I can verify the artwork. I think it will be useful to help place stencils as well. Pondering whether I should get a screen burned for it and try to screen print it after I airbrush the colours. One shot to get it right!

Redrawing this gives you an appreciation for art you might think is "simple" at first glance.

That thing is very cool. A precursor to the pinball2000. Anyone know if the ground is merely a backdrop or is it interactive in some way?

Thanks, I'll do that once I have all the cleaned-up mechs reinstalled and everything back together. I noticed with the pf up that I'm getting some blue sparking from the switch board (is that what you call those things?) inside the cabinet when it attempts to reset, obviously that's something to tackle as well.

Working on a Laguna Beach in fair condition. After talking to some of the guys here I have decided to just fix it up instead of a full restore. This is my first pinball machine. I've played these in the 70's lost bunches of money. Still love the game!
I've gotten some great advice and technical support on Pinside.

Four Million BC, it was at the absolute top of my wishlist for EMs! Got lucky and snagged a great deal, seller had it about a year and couldn't get it running. Took me about 20 total hours now to clean contacts, re-gap (or whatever you call it) some switches, and then the standard "shop" job. Sounds like a lot of time maybe, but this is the first EM I've had to troubleshoot mechanically.

The strip and re-paint of the wallpapered Domino continues. The backbox was done a couple weeks ago. The front, back, and one side of the cabinet were just completed. One more side left to go before I can start to re-assemble the game.

The bottom of the front (looks all blue) was just a piece of tape I forgot to remove.

I had never stripped and painted a cabinet before. It has been a fun learning experience but I'm not sure I would get into another project like this one.

The Gay 90's total repaint begins...inserts epoxied. I reused the orange ones the others are new. Next step after it dries is sand down and spray Createx 4050.
I got the black layer printed by a screen printing company on a 24" wide transparent film, it looks great. That will help me line up all my colours.

    I'll be following https://creatextech.com/pdf/app-guides/Createx-Colors_Hard-Surface-Application-Guide.pdf

Going to try to get by with my Silhouette Cameo cutter...don't really want to spring for a 24" cutter and paint mask unless I have to.
