Got my Dimension all shopped out now with repro backglass and new drop targets. I wasn't in the mood to rebuild the pops (yet) and the original flippers are in good shape so I'm holding off on rebuilding those too. I have the flipper rebuild kit for it now but maybe they will go in a game down the road that has worse flippers.
Today I'm going to start shopping the Kings and Queens. To get inspired I just ordered a backglass from Shay.

looks good, nice work!
for 99% of games a new EOS, coil stop and coil sleeve is all the flippers need to be fresh. those kits that pbr sell are not needed unless broken or missing parts
I am working on my Spooksville and I need some help. Any ideas at all are welcome...don't be shy!

*sigh* yeah, I'm sure some people will notice. At some point I may try to correct that. Right now I have more invested in the glass and drop targets than what I paid for the machine so I'm reaching my limit for what I want to put into it. The coin door has 3 holes along with the cabinet to hold a larger sized padlock too :/
The wood on the wedge part of the backbox was coming apart it almost looked like it had wings. Some wood glue brought that back to an acceptable appearance.

I would also include connecting links in your rebuild. There is often elongation in those holes as I'm sure you're aware Dave. You lose a lot of energy right there.
Finishing this up. Plays lightening fast with reworked Playfield, fresh rubber and factory DC flippers, pops and slings! I would add more pictures of the cabinet Etc but pinside doesn't seem to play well with Android mobile platforms these days as far as picture orientation. Robin? Help a little bit please?

Would now be a good time to debut my Space Mission link and plunger? I've never seen a plunger worn so much.
I've also been picking up some more power with the cabinet switches too. I don't replace them all the time but Space Mission benefited with some EOS switches in the cabinet (I made them normally open).

Yeah all my pics are sideways too...
Bristol Hills. Low production.
When first seen, I didn't think it's layout looked exciting,
but I've heard different.
I have a couple, but never played one..
btw: Those two 71's side by side are a nice looking pair..
Just shopped this for some folks in Middleburg VA today (this is a pre-shop photo, I hate black rubbers)!... 24 score reels and a boatload of steppers and relays, what a great game! Bought by the wife's father when she was a teenager, it's been with them for the last 30+ years.
Going back in a week or so to meet the dad, he's travelling from Ohio and wants to talk "shop" and drink some IPAs!

Cool Don.
You gonna talk them into getting a Shay backglass?

It really has 24 reels? The ones aren't dummies?
I've never seen the EM version. Very rare

You should see Don's own machine. It's crazy nice and he was kind enough to bring it to York.

Good catch, 5 x 4 for a grand total of 20.

I did tell them about it, but they didn't seem interested. They liked their original... good for them!
Alright my friend is sick of coming over to play Big Shot only to have no sound when scoring 1,000
I've been lazy about getting around to this but the plunger sticks big time so I gave it a sanding and cleaning. I'm hoping I don't have to change out the sleeve in the coil too. Will find out soon enough.
IMG_5796 (resized).JPGIMG_5797 (resized).JPGIMG_5798 (resized).JPGQuoted from Vintage-Pinball:Nice! It's been restored or just not suffered the typical kick out ball damage?
That's been restored to a point or it's a very low play playfield. There's quite a few hints there. The kickhole holes have little to no damage. The white areas until the slings are still very white, those tend to yellow badly. There's no ball track in the upper arch. No damage under the bumpers that can be seen and no wear near the kickout holes. There is the usual fading under the flippers and there is a definite change in the upper arch in the natural areas. Appears to be the usual small divot that appears under the rebound rubber. There is the typical damage under the posts from the post screws.
My vote is this is a very low play playfield or it was meticulously maintained. That is extremely nice assuming it's an original playfield.
the north star was just cleaned and polished. nothing else. the 2nd nicest one i have ever seen. the nicest i have seen was nick raschilla. he found one that had day one mylar. it only beats this one by a little.

They exist.

wow that is nice and blonde mike. almost all have a great tan.
A 1968 Gottlieb Funland. Trying to figure out how to set replay levels using the male Jones connectors in the backbox. Some leads have 2 connectors some have only one. Very cryptic on how to use the legend which is stapled inside the back box to set the scoring levels. See pictures attached... Thank you in advance!!!!

I like that analogy. I like blondes.
Speaking of blondes, this is the blondest blond I've ever dated.

other than NOS pf, that is by far the blondest pf i have seen. wasn't nos it does have some tanning
Quoted from Murphdom:How’s the backglass?
Here's a shot of the BG... no crazing, no cracks (even at the bottom) and no fade! I know this game was on route for at least 8 years... simply stunning shape.

The male plugs have labels on them. For example if you want replay levels at 6500 and 7600 you put the plug with the 6 in the 500 hole and the plug with the 7 in the 600 hole. Two plugs on one wire allows two replay levels in the same thousands such as 7200 and 7900.

I had a Jack Open that was basically HUO most of its life. It was very blonde. Basically no fade under the flippers. Easily the best one I've ever had.
I got a ‘76 Royal flush when I bought a house and the previous owner left it behind. I always loved pinball and now I am in heaven. I didn’t know how much I would enjoy the restoration too. the thing is, it looks like the machine was hacked to play in free place by bypassing a switch on the ball # motor (I’ll try to attach a photo). As a result I’m thinking that the extra ball / replay function is not working. I hear the knock when I reach the # of points, but when the ball drains, it either advances to next player or when playing one player it just sits in the drain with extra ball light flashing.
So I’m wondering how is the extra ball supposed to actually work both in the mechanical sense and the game play sense. Is “replay” the same as extra ball? I think there is a difference between adding a credit and adding a ball, where the credit is a new game, versus adding a ball to an already existing game. So I want to clarify whether replay means adding a credit or adding a ball.
And also, I’d like to know whether there is a better way to put a RF on free play, so that all the functionality stays intact. Any feedback would be great. Thank you.

Royal Flush does not have extra ball capability.

With a little transformation :
Quoted from mark532011:Finally finished my miss-o playfield. A total restore, repainted most of it. Just finished the clearcoat. Its shinier than the original so its not stock but i am really happy with it

Very nice

all those M.E. are wasted. my guess you are using 90% iso and not naphtha. iso breaks down the M.E.'s and softens the clear finish on the pf. if you used naphtha you would use maybe 2 M.E.'s at most... just my .02 i have been preaching this for a very long time but not many listen
I tried to get Naphtha in Los Angeles but was told it is not allowed for sale in California. Is it the same for Nevada?

I disagree. Not wasted. The dirt is embedded in the clear. The alcohol softens the clear and removes most ball swirls and dirt. That's 2 pads cut into 1/4" sections. The pads get full of grime before falling apart. Pre-clean with Mean Green on paper towels before to remove top layers of dirt. This might have been the most dirty field I have taken on.
Quoted from wayinla:I tried to get Naphtha in Los Angeles but was told it is not allowed for sale in California. Is it the same for Nevada?
It’s illegal in California, but not in Nevada.

Will you clear coat the PF after cleaning and touch-up?
Alberto
Quoted from Peruman:Will you clear coat the PF after cleaning and touch-up?
Alberto
Yes.
Quoted from wayinla:What will you use for the clear coat?
I use spray on Varathane. Not quite as durable or as good adhesion as Auto clear, but a heck of a lot less toxic. I can work in my basement reasonably safely.
