Looks great. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.
I had the camera out anyways, so I took a couple pics of the 1954 United Team Bowler I'm going
through that I'm traded to a Friend for work to be done on my Cuda and 46 Plymouth. I had that
bowler stored since the mid 90s..
My Graphic Designer is redoing the backglass (plexi), so if anyone could use a 1954 Team Bowler
backglass, it should be ready by the middle of next month..
I had one of these about 3 years ago along with a Top Hat that i paid 45 bucks for the pair at an auction.
Picked up a Gottlieb jungle this morning, which will go into the “restore to sell“ queue.
Play field is in nice shape and will clean up really well. Dirt is the main problem on this game. The back glass and the playfield both look nice. Some cabinet scratches of course. Not sure yet if I’ll do any cabinet painting on this one or not.
One question, though, look at the serial numbers on this cabinet: is the “S“ serial number on the left side something that an operator would’ve added? Or is this a sample game? I’m assuming it’s the former. Maybe "SN" is serial number and they had their own numbering system at the operator.

That game is in gorgeous shape. Nice find!
On my sample HydePark the S for sample is to the right of the numbers. Maybe they changed it around for later games? Your playfield is gorgeous. Send pictures of your serial numbers to IMDb.org and ask their opinion. Look closely at your playfield and the playfield pictures on ipdb.org to see if their are any differences.

The one with the SN prefix looks to be an operator number.
What serial number is stamped on top of the head?
Bought my first EM a couple weeks from a local homeowner who had it for over 30 years in his basement. 1973 Bally Monte Carlo. Said it didnt work.
Working like a charm now. Rebuilt flippers and pop bumpers. Added LEDs and clear posts. Cleaned up nice. Had some minor wear around pops so I put down mylar. Otherwise playfield in great shape for its age and only a little chipping around inserts. No planking.

Quoted from JaxGator:A williams 4 aces, but its missing the plastics and the lockdown bar with button. I'm used to working on SS machines, so seems repro parts for this thing are non existent.

Back on a vintage United Shuffle now, but recently went through a Flipper Fair
I got in years ago. Realizing it had the incorrect lower cab., I went along with
the trade because it had a nice head and my other Flipper Fair's head around
the glass was shreading apart. There's certainly nothing cosmetically great about
this one, but did fix up the other's head a bit and after many trips to the parts bin,
this one does play well. A nudge on the slings can bring the ball up to the top.
Not 100%, but I have a pretty good idea what 2 player lower cab. it has.

Nice. The lower cabinet art is identical, I think, to a Gottlieb Gaucho. Is that a Gaucho cabinet? Or did those games share artwork?
Quoted from goldenboy232:Is that a Gaucho cabinet? Or did those games share artwork?
Actually, I think it matches a Flying Turns also, unless the red/redish-orange is a different shade
on Flying Turns. Looks like it's a Gaucho (maybe Flying Turns) lower cab. Flipper Fair has different
art work (although the colors do match up with the head pretty well), and also has a totally different
cab. This one's going to a home owner that was looking for a pin. He'll have a good time playing it.
I think it may play better than the one I presently have set up in the game room.
Here's that one with the proper lower cab..
almost done with the restore

Nice paint on the original cabinet! Surprised you didn't keep that! is that a reproduction backglass? Doesn't look like it has the usual Reds flaking. Nice work!

Started back on my Midway Rifle Gallery
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/midway-rife-gallery-restore-previous-rat-mansion-
I have a player's condition Sky Jump. I have a new playfield coming. What a great game - even with the old cupped inserts driving me crazy. Can't wait to get to play this game with a new playfield.
Working on my 1st em, Williams Heat Wave.
Fixed some things, but now it’s worse. Must have done something...

Looking sweet. That playfield sure does pop.

Par for the course. Working on EM’s is awesome
Quoted from Peruman:Working on EM’s is awesome
It was awesome after I did something easy like cleaning the connectors in the head and got the match and game over to light. Much less so, after tinkering with the score reels. Soldered a fallen wire to he lug on the tens reel. Now nothing happens. Schematic is on order.
Not a complete EM, but something I enjoyed making up. This is a light box I wired to use as a wall hanger. The machine was only a parts machine, but I managed to repair the head and refinish the picture frame trim. I then cleaned all of the lamp sockets and contacts, then ran the power side wire and soldered all points. Just need a smaller 6 volt transformer, and still thinking on how to hang this.
IMG_7957 (resized).jpgIMG_7960 (resized).jpgIMG_7962 (resized).jpgRestoring a 1977 Gottlieb Big Hit. I first played this at Vic Camp’s house about two years ago and thought it was a really cool game with the center shooter and wider playfield, the combination of drop targets and various targets, the “baseball” base-runner functionality, and the wider playfield (since no shooter lane).
Doing a full cabinet repaint as well.

Both look great - can't see any trace of the kickout wear on the original. I love my Quick Draw, too!

Both look nice, which is your preference?
I love my Quick Draw; I'm on Wade's list for the second remake, but's it's been a while and I was starting to think of restoring the one in my game; I've done others prior.

Yeah, nice job on the kick out hole touch-ups. Barely a trace if you didn't know it was there. If I had an original play field that looked at nice, I don't think I would need to upgrade to a Wade Playfield. This game on the other hand really needed one. Just starting a playfield swap on game #298 (2001)
20200504_180125 (resized).jpgQuoted from Dono:Helping a fellow pinsider un-do the ridiculous hack on his WMS Gulfstream... some goofball wired in a second transformer in the rear of the mech panel... detective work beginning tonight, should be interesting.
PROBLEM SOLVED - bad rectifier... reinstalled and all is good in the world. The 2nd transformer is staying, with me being in a separate physical location with the owner, we felt like that would be too painful to get through.

For now the Wade playfield is the preference because it is playable. The other is a game I am doing for a friend. He restored the playfield himself and I am just putting it back together and have not gotten to play it yet. I posted it to show how good a job he did on the restore. He has a body shop so touch up and auto clear is a daily thing for him.

The restored playfield is a friend's and he did do a very good job on the kickout hole repair. He had well more than kickout hole repair to address on this playfield.
I'm in the same boat on the 2001. I'm going to have my friend autoclear it before I put it in my game. I had the Wade QD playfield autocleared before installing it also.

I’m getting tired of waiting on Wade to rerun this one. I have a quick draw Playfield that could easily be restored but wanted a new one. If I finish and recover from doing my Cowpoke ground up before he gets them going I may just go for it.

The wade playfield has only been in my Quick Draw since last fall. Before that the original playfield had an OK restore to it from about 10 years earlier. I will admit that the gameplay was great on that only OK restoration. I attribute that to the more consistent playfield surface where much of the insert cupping was overcome. I got in on the original run of Wade QD playfields so I had it sitting around for 6-7 years before I installed it. Both the restored playfield and the Wade playfield are worthy of this great game.
Quoted from o-din:Well, I couldn't at this time get my color printer to print the instruction card pdf with red as it came and is supposed to be, but as a boss of mine once said "close enough for government work". It is actually black, the lighting must be making it look blue.

Wow that is so nice. I want it.
I really enjoy spending time on games like this with so very few in existence. It makes it easier to think yours might be one of the nicest when you're done, even though not perfect, when you've seen evidence of less than five to ten other examples. And most played to death. This is far from a low play example. But very solid and kept in dry weather.
I screwed up and forgot to cover the post hole between the flippers that doesn't belong there again. Oh well.
The dead bumpers use specially printed caps that are not available and mine did not come with them. Can anybody make stencils or what would be the best thing to do? I don't really need them, but it would be a nice touch to complete the game.
