Tables made out of Ash wood are the hardest, now if your talking about Pinball "machines well then it's F14.

#102 4 years ago

I think the toughest wizard mode to get to in any modern Stern is Wheel of Fortune...

#103 4 years ago

Houdini is the toughest shooter I've played so far. Super tight shots result in a ton of bricks. I suck at pinball though, so everything's hard. IM is impossible, GB is impossible, TWD is impossible, TNA is impossible, BSD is impossible, JP2 is impossible...I could go on and on. Now that I think about it, I'm surprised it hasn't discouraged me from the hobby, but it hasn't at all.

they aren't shooters either... LOL, guns shoot, pinball machines play well, or flip well... come on now guys... can we please get rid of table and shooter in terms of pinball? please?

p.s. just having fun breaking balls. no need to flame. it's certainly not my way or the highway! LOL

Alice Cooper is tough!
Tight shots as well. But the most addictive game I've ever played for some reason!

I want to play one bad. It looks amazing. I've heard it's brutal, but what a looker. No locations have one around here unfortunately.

I have my moments but I'll add Big Guns to the list. Not a welcoming game for newer players either.

I have earlier software installed in mine and told it's a bit more challenging?

Ya, only 500 made. That's why I bought one NIB. It's too bad there are a lot of haters on this title. It's without a doubt a tough shooter, but like I said, it is super addictive and absolutely one of the most beautiful pins ever! Especially if you love the haunted themes. The art, sounds, animations and world under glass are awesome! Alice's music is perfect for it and the whole package is just so well implemented, it's magic! Must have mods are; Medisinyl Mods RGB crypt and volcano, pin blades, plastic protectors, real knocker, shaker, lighted speakers with eyeball grills, and glow in the dark Titan rubbers.

Amazing art package with very tight shots but you don’t lose the ball that often so you get to keep trying. I don’t know if they changed the way the modes never time out but that’s how it was when I owned it.

I like ACNC but didn’t find it that tough because you get to keep trying with long ball times. Hard to compare with some pins that punish missed shots.

You must be a hell of a lot better than me! This game kicks my ass all over the place. The modes don't time out (thank goodness). Maybe I'm just getting too old now and my reaction time is just no good anymore, but if this game is too easy for you, good luck finding challenging enough games. Maybe you'll have to start playing with your pinkies.

White Water can be pretty brutal. The ramp to the upper playfield and the light lock standups can send it back very quick, the shot through the jets is hard, and the lower playfield area in general is very unpredictable. Difficult rules as well, especially getting to Class Six when you need it, and making the most of the 5X playfield. Excellent game overall, though.

Iron Man is awesome, because I can beat some good players on it from time to time. That means it's hard, and that luck trumps skill more often than not.
The hardest game I have is Whirlwind....

Whirlwind is a challenging pin, what's your high score?

You worked up a sweat and got the heart beating. It feels good when you put up a great score on Whirlwind!

My best on Whirlwind is 108 million and I've hit the 80's a couple times too. I don't find it all that difficult especially if I'm zeroed in on the upper ramp.

EM - Astronaut
SS - Stars (Stern)
dmd - AFM

Dang. So how many Mega cellar bonuses was involved with that score?

I didn’t and wouldn’t say “too easy” because you have to make shots. It’s just that most the shots are far away from the flippers so it can lead to long ball times.

What makes a game tough? Impossible Wizard modes or short ball times?

Valinor or Encore (ACDC) are brutally difficult to get to let alone beat.

Quoted from jhanley:

I think just one although I have completed the cellar multiple times a game as well. The majority of the points in those scores came from nailing the left ramp while in multi ball. I've gotten it up to 7 or 8 million per shot. That adds up pretty quick.

#127 4 years ago

Not the hardest pin, but Mata Hari LOOKS like your gonna just kill it, but good luck!

#128 4 years ago

My WMS Gulfstream is a brute - legs set at 8 degrees, all posts at conservative, with the two center posts set even closer to the center target than factory conservative setting. Incredibly quick ball times, so you MUST be efficient!

Others that come to mind - Bally Paragon / Bally Rolling Stones (79), GTB Haunted House

Today I'd say Iron Man and Fish Tales, tomorrow maybe BSD and AC/DC.
Most of my machines can be tough, that's why I love them.

I like your lineup, you have a lot of games on my wishlist. I agree, the harder games get the most play over here and I find myself gravitating to owning those games (TWD and IM are next in line for me). I have my Tron steep as hell with wide open outlanes and it’s hilarious how quickly the games are done.

#131 4 years ago
Quoted from freakandgeek:

TWD Premium is the toughest game I have ever owned by a long factor...next would be BSD.

+1 (excluding the BSD part)

TWD's layout is just built to guide the ball SDTM. At first I was puzzled by all of my SDTM drains. The game seemed possessed to me. But then, after thinking about, I realized that the central "corridor" of the PF is long/narrow, and there are myriad ball-deflecting objects that flank it on either side. Gently touching any of them is often just the right guide to steer the ball SDTM. It's diabolical! And I haven't even mentioned the infernal outlanes! MET is much kinder. IM is fast and does have hungry outlanes, but it's less sadistic, drainwise, than TWD.

I don't know how you didn't get out lane drains? I get a lot of them and I dialed down the slings and flippers, jacked up the pitch to 6.9 degrees average and removed those perfect play rubbers and installed all Titan rubbers (less bouncy) and still get a lot of out lane drains. Don't have long ball times because of this. Ya, I need to play better!
