For older games, I agree that LED is totally the way to go.
I have a thing that the newer games (like Iron Man or Spider-Man) with the movie scenes played on the DMD look significantly better with the smoothing effects that the LCD Color DMDs have. For the older games though, that don't have a million different dimness controls, I'm LED all the way.
And yeah, beware, once you start...
