Quoted from underlord:I dunno vid. This could destroy LE sales. Slippery slope.
It won't be a LE, it will be a Premium or maybe TRON3 (currently being made).
Quoted from underlord:It would be construed as a money grab without any thought or caring about the companies word or reputation going forward.
JJP did the same thing with the Ruby WOZs, and I did not see everyone cancelling their orders for Hobbit, or even cancelling their LEs they have been waiting 3 years for.
Pinball hobbyists obviously will take any amount of abuse without uprising.
When in doubt:
Quoted from vid1900:Anything is possible when money is involved.
Quoted from starbase:And how would you feel if you had 9k,10k invested in one because you did not get in at 5500? Would you feel good? Would you want to support this company in the future if your limited edition was not so limited?
See I am in those shoes and yes I would be pissed. If that's what makes you happy in life, people in this hobby losing all value in their purchase then more power to you
I've got a TRON LE and I want Stern to make more of them (a Premium version would be perfect).
There will only ever be 400 LEs. 1000 premiums won't hurt the value of my LE.
It's a great game that non-pinheads gravitate towards immediately, because it does not look old and outdated like most pins.
Quoted from Jeekayjay:Tron owners sure come off as the most sensitive owners of any machine I've read about!
Did you miss the giant butthurt of the MM remake?
You guys need to remember this is a pinball machine, not some collector plate from the Franklin Mint ("after creating only 100,000 Elvis collector plates, the molds will be destroyed FOREVER ! Early orders will get valuable lower serial numbers on a certificate of authenticity, approved by the Presley estate ! ").
This is pinball.
You buy a BBB for $20,000 and then 4 months latter Gene makes 200 more for $4500 each.
You buy a used TRON Pro for top dollar after Gary says "No more TRON runs", and a month latter Stern does yet another TRON run.
You buy an AC/DC Premium, spend a fortune modding it out, and then a much more rare and desirable Luci comes out.
You buy a WOZLE, wait 3 years to get it, and then the much more rare and desirable Ruby WOZ comes out with better toys.
You buy a NIB Ironman for $6900 from a well know distributor, and 1 week latter Stern does another run.
If you are losing sleep over any of this, you really need a new hobby.
No professional investor EVER told his client to invest in pinball machines (or if yours did, time to fire him).
Quoted from RobT:Sorry, but when it comes to LE versions, that's pretty much exactly how they are marketed to potential buyers.
Marketing, shmarketing.
Stern, IPB, JJP they will all break your little heart.

Quoted from RobT:Perhaps, but Stern has yet to re-release an LE and I certainly don't expect them to.
Like I said, it will be a Premium or a TRON3.
Expect it.
Quoted from Goronic:If I order a TRON Pro they will make it, if I don't order a PRO they won't
So true
Quoted from Rarehero:Nope. Tron 3 may never even get made. It's in development…but many movies in development die in development.
Then it will be a premium; that is what the "or" means - another choice.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:What is the general market for a TRON LE? (I don't know if $10k is the going rate or not)
It's right about $9.5K if the usual mods are installed.
Give or take, depending on location, season, wind direction,
Quoted from Rarehero:It didn't happen then, it's not going to happen now or in the future.
That's what they said about Ironman, Medieval Madness, EBD.............
Relax, let it happen, let the warm glow of the lighted ramps wash over your soul
Quoted from Rarehero:Iron Man was never limited.
MM was never limited.
Why limit your thinking?
Open your mind up to the endless possibilities of the capitalistic world.
Quoted from Rarehero:Different era, irrelevant.
I was there, routing those games.
Pinball is one giant flow, go with it.
Quoted from creyes82:Nobody said LEs were meant to be profitable, just a handful have climbed up in value.
Exactly.
Historically, only a few pins have ever kept up with the value of inflation.
99% of them are worth less now than they were when purchased new.
Even popular games like STTNG would have to fetch $5,000 to have even kept up with inflation (let alone all the cash it took to maintain it all those years).
-
Pinball is only a realistic investment to people who route them.
Quoted from Rarehero:Disney is kind of ashamed of Tron
Wait till they see the reboot of The Black Hole..............
Quoted from Rarehero:Tron's license is expired. With all this speculation - keep in mind that Disney may not wish to renew product licenses for Tron Legacy, as it's an "obsolete" product license as far as their concerned.
As someone who has licensed properties in the past, I will point out that companies who make money by licensing, like to issue licenses, because......wait for it............wait for it.....that is how they make money.
If you want to license a movie like "Sleepaway Camp", no matter how embarrassing it is to Newline, they will still issue you a license - because otherwise that is a property on the books, that is COSTING them money rather than EARNING them money.
Quoted from Rarehero:Renewing the Tron license won't make them that much money, and with Tron being off their radar, they might prefer it to stay that way. They're about to make billions off of Star Wars and Marvel stuff….a few thousand Tron dollars isn't their priority.
I just called them.
They said the TRON license is absolutely available right now.
I also asked about Song of the South, and unfortunately they said it is not available for licensing in the USA right now.
Quoted from pinballkim:This guy is amazing me, he lives in LA and doesn't understand people will do anything for a dollar, money talks, end of story.
Just because a guy is a great mechanic, does not mean he can run a garage.
Just because a guy works with cartoons does not mean he should run a pinball company.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:How much will Stern really make on a B/W reproduction?
$750
Quoted from Rarehero:I think a few people were pissed, but at the same time if you were a green LE buyer you paid $6500, way less than what the red is selling for.
Same as me paying $5300 for my TRON LE - I'm sure not going to complain when people pay $7000 for the new TRON Premium.
Quoted from Trekkie1978:I seem to be the only person who enjoyed the Tron sequel.
I cranked off to it a few times when the Bluray came out.
Quoted from Concretehardt:I will assume that your family has food on their table and a roof over their heads
Not necessarily.
