They tend to get a lot of hate (WWE) or feel pretty cheap (FG). The Shadow is fun and different enough that it gets a pass. Maybe TZ's "The Power" due to the seeming magic involved?

#2 8 years ago

None.... .....I like a nice open PF...............Joey

#4 8 years ago

TSPP mini playfield is really nice!

#5 8 years ago

shrek donkey pinball

i just love me some eddie murphy sound bites

#6 8 years ago

I like Black Hole, Haunted House, IJ, TZ and both of WOZs.

LOTR is probably my least favorite as it is just passive.

#7 8 years ago

Not a fan of mini PFs in general, but TZ's is cool.

#8 8 years ago

I'm yet to play a mini playfield that I really like. If the cross game shot on Transporter counts then that one is my favorite. Other than that probably the Shadow's.

#9 8 years ago

I like TZ's, the one in TSSP, and the mini playfields on WOZ.

The Castle playfield on WOZ is my favorite as it has multiple stand up targets, a loop shot, a castle door shot, a shot behind the mechanical door and a mechanical toy (the monkey toy) that picks up a ball from the main playfield and delivers it to the castle mini playfield. Unlike a lot of mini playfields it has a fair amount of depth rules wise through various points in the game.

If the coding was better for it the AC/DC lower Mini PF could be great. Doesn't impede the main PF and could have some good challenge to if they had it going while the upper PF was going to.

#11 8 years ago

I choose Shrek too coz you can actually play it and the comments the donkey gives!

Agree. I'm still holding out hope that we will see a mode where both playfields are active. A mini playfield loop champion high score feature would be nice too.

Black Hole

#14 8 years ago

I would vote for TZ.

#15 8 years ago

Miniplayfields that offer something different are the best, like TZ and The Shadow. Congo's is different, but just ok.

#16 8 years ago

Almost forgot. While not the most fun in playing I think the LT5 engine in corvette is one of the the best integrated mini PF's into a games theme.

I like Shadow's mini

#19 8 years ago

As others mentioned, really think AC/DC's would be next-level if it was in operation during main play in some circumstances.

#20 8 years ago

TZ, IJ and Black Hole. I'm not a big fan of the cheap feeling upper playfield on Shrek/FG and the ones on WOZ are a snore fest. I do like the one on WPT because of the shear number of shots and the challenge of the shot to the far left as a skill shot. I also like the one on ACDC because it is not used too much. Does not get old.

Swords fury
Shadow
TZ
Family Guy
TSPP if flipper strong enough

My top favs

I agree with this. I was thinking that there should be a substantial reward if you can keep the ball in play the entire time without a drain, but you can just sit on the ball, a certain amount of points have to be achieved.

Does BK2K count??

#24 8 years ago

WH2O
WWFRR is ok too....

I like the rescue mini PF on WoZ in concept, but in practice it's not that fun and is only really a challenge when you've got multiple balls in play on different playfields.

#27 8 years ago

The Battlefield on TS is my favorite. The lighting is rather poor back there making it tough to track at times (haven't added a light yet) and the ball can move pretty fast on a nicely waxed surface with everything dialed in.

(admittedly I haven't played it .......YET) but I really like the looks of the upper mini playfield with the clown that has drop targets for teeth on Pinball Circus keeping my fingers crossed the redo makes it into production

The Big Lebowski...Smashing the Dudes car.

Minis that I actually enjoy playing:
Black Hole
IJ
Elektra
TZ
Swords of Fury
WOZ (castle)
Haunted House (upper playfield)

Minis that I don't care much for:
WOZ (Dorothy's house)
ACDC
TSPP
Shrek/FG
Haunted House (lower playfield)

#32 8 years ago

almost forgot about Blackwater 100 !! that's a super fun upper playfield! maybe not a mini but its got a lot going on up there

I Like both on WOZ. I like the mini castle play field more than munchkinland though.

#35 8 years ago

Shadow and Twilight Zone for me.

If it had to be one it would be Shadow.

#36 8 years ago

elektra.
there is actually a purpose to it.
hit 3 targets on left lights left rollover, hit 3 targets on right lights the other rollover. hit all 6 of the targets also lights the 2x bonus target, then hit that for 2x of course.. the bonus is huge playing the mini pf if you do it right, it has its own bonus different from main pf bonus.

This is so true - from my point of view the only mini playfield with a proof of concept that they could be fun!

Honorably mentions for TZ and Shadow, since they are really "innovative".

Wizard of Oz must win some kind of award for the castle playfield:
- 1 flipper
- 6 standup targets
- 1 loop
- 1 bash target
- 1 sink hole
- 1 ball lock

There are two paths to get balls to the castle playfield (the Monkey and the VUK) and there is even a multiball for the castle playfield.

How about banzi run? Does that count as a mini playfield.

#40 8 years ago

Shadow, both of WOZ's, Shrek, and Black Hole is really cool.

#41 8 years ago

IJ - followed by TZ.

#42 8 years ago

It is very close for me between TSPP mini and WOZ Castle Mini.
Both are very cool mini PF's.

#43 8 years ago

Another vote for WPT and BH...

....but the winner will be Pinball circus

#44 8 years ago

Lol these best of threads always turn into "let's list all the games with mini playfields."

Swords of Fury
Simpsons Pinball Party

Is the Doctor Who mini pf considered a mini pf?

I don't think so. If it is though, I think that's the best.

#49 8 years ago

IJ, White water for me.
I don't like LOTR and shadow.
