I'm yet to play a mini playfield that I really like. If the cross game shot on Transporter counts then that one is my favorite. Other than that probably the Shadow's.
I like TZ's, the one in TSSP, and the mini playfields on WOZ.
The Castle playfield on WOZ is my favorite as it has multiple stand up targets, a loop shot, a castle door shot, a shot behind the mechanical door and a mechanical toy (the monkey toy) that picks up a ball from the main playfield and delivers it to the castle mini playfield. Unlike a lot of mini playfields it has a fair amount of depth rules wise through various points in the game.
If the coding was better for it the AC/DC lower Mini PF could be great. Doesn't impede the main PF and could have some good challenge to if they had it going while the upper PF was going to.

Agree. I'm still holding out hope that we will see a mode where both playfields are active. A mini playfield loop champion high score feature would be nice too.
Almost forgot. While not the most fun in playing I think the LT5 engine in corvette is one of the the best integrated mini PF's into a games theme.
As others mentioned, really think AC/DC's would be next-level if it was in operation during main play in some circumstances.
TZ, IJ and Black Hole. I'm not a big fan of the cheap feeling upper playfield on Shrek/FG and the ones on WOZ are a snore fest. I do like the one on WPT because of the shear number of shots and the challenge of the shot to the far left as a skill shot. I also like the one on ACDC because it is not used too much. Does not get old.

I agree with this. I was thinking that there should be a substantial reward if you can keep the ball in play the entire time without a drain, but you can just sit on the ball, a certain amount of points have to be achieved.

Shadow
TZ
Family Guy
TSPP if flipper strong enough
My top favs
Ditto
I like the rescue mini PF on WoZ in concept, but in practice it's not that fun and is only really a challenge when you've got multiple balls in play on different playfields.
(admittedly I haven't played it .......YET) but I really like the looks of the upper mini playfield with the clown that has drop targets for teeth on Pinball Circus keeping my fingers crossed the redo makes it into production
almost forgot about Blackwater 100 !! that's a super fun upper playfield! maybe not a mini but its got a lot going on up there
elektra.
there is actually a purpose to it.
hit 3 targets on left lights left rollover, hit 3 targets on right lights the other rollover. hit all 6 of the targets also lights the 2x bonus target, then hit that for 2x of course.. the bonus is huge playing the mini pf if you do it right, it has its own bonus different from main pf bonus.

This is so true - from my point of view the only mini playfield with a proof of concept that they could be fun!
Honorably mentions for TZ and Shadow, since they are really "innovative".
Wizard of Oz must win some kind of award for the castle playfield:
- 1 flipper
- 6 standup targets
- 1 loop
- 1 bash target
- 1 sink hole
- 1 ball lock
There are two paths to get balls to the castle playfield (the Monkey and the VUK) and there is even a multiball for the castle playfield.
Quoted from EvanDickson:Is the Doctor Who mini pf considered a mini pf?
I don't think so. If it is though, I think that's the best.
