Total nuclear annihilation makes great use of the drops! Also fathom!
Laser Cue and Alien Poker
Same layout, similar-ish rules. The 5 target bank that resets after a missed shot is awesome.
Quoted from MotorCityMatt:Whats the Spanish game with the cool drops. Dragon?
Interflip Dragoon...if you want to call those drops.
Quoted from dc2010:Win surprised no one has mentioned
For sure not many out there!
Quoted from LTG:Chief Bank-A-Flip Galactic Poker Dice
Has 25 drop targets.
LTG : )
Never played it...now it's on my list. Thank you.
A simple layout, but hitting the last of eight drops on Mata Hari always puts a smile on my face. I love those chimes!
Quoted from ThatOneDude:Blackout
Flash
+1 for Blackout
I'd add:
Meteor
Quicksilver
Flash Gordon
Not that it has a lot of drop targets, but Cleopatra / Pyramid
Solar Fire
Quoted from TheLaw:Interflip Dragoon...if you want to call those drops.
For some reason I really like that game.
I’ve only played The Hobbit a few times a couple years ago. I don’t remember anything in particular about the drops being particularly noteworthy, but a lot of people are pointing it out. What is it about the drop targets that are so good on it?
Quoted from iceman44:WPT and it’s not close
Lol! I thought you would say something old-school
Quoted from Daditude:Lol! I thought you would say something old-school
Usually he says something like "old fart" when it comes to anything he can't spend $10k on and open a new box.
Quoted from RatShack:Hot Tip is spinner all day.
Get all the drops down first, and the spinner goes from 100 to 1000 points! Get ‘em all down again, and you can go for same player shoots again.
Wait, wait, wait... Mebbe everyboby is forgetting them because they're hard to see... But the drops in Space Shuttle are ESSENTIAL to scoring big in that game. And a triple sweep on those bad boiz is one of the most satisfying shots in pinball...
Hot Shot/Big Shot/Pinball Pool.
King Pin
Jack in the Box/ Jumping Jack
Not a fan of 2001. Difficult to hit them all with the 2" flippers
Cactus Canyon might be my top because of the gun draw
Iron Maiden when you can sweep them
Williams Indiana Jones to lock balls
Beatles to open up the jackpot shot on the left
Quicksilver
Flash Gordon vs EBD vs Metallica for my favorite in-line drops
Quoted from fireball2:Wait, wait, wait... Mebbe everyboby is forgetting them because they're hard to see... But the drops in Space Shuttle are ESSENTIAL to scoring big in that game. And a triple sweep on those bad boiz is one of the most satisfying shots in pinball...
True. I just played it tonight actually.
Quoted from mof:I dig smart drops a LOT...
Barracora
Defender
Laser Cue?
Jungle Lord's Double Trouble bank?
Solar Fire / Grand Lizard Flash Bank?
Any Williams timed three banks (Black Knight, BK2000, Pin*Bot, Pharaoh, again Solar Fire)?
Quoted from transprtr4u:Only 6 drops .. But the right bank of 3 on Airborne is a very satisfying shot!
Quality not Quantity.
Quoted from wolverinetuner:My very favorite EM, Hot Tip
Another favorite, Cleopatra
(Both were made in EM and SS versions)
Cleopatra has a wonderful drop target implementation. I love the risk reward of the drops that guard the temple with the 5k behind.
Trying to think of some more which have not been said yet..
Stellar wars (Great implementation with ruleset to spell Stellar Wars).
Pantera (First game to have complete individual drop control to my knowledge?).. point to Quick Draw for the middle reset tho...
Volley (Great implementation with theme)
Someone already brought up Cheetah, but special points for the top bank (probably one of the longest Drop target shots, you can directly hit the right most with the right flipper in a straight shot). Can strafe the 5 bank in one shot from the 3rd flipper, and last, you can time the shots on the rotating star drops for an extra ball or other bonuses.
Cactus Canyon (For the great gunfight use)
Vector (Maybe the first to use drops to specifically block a ramp?)
Paragon (Great use of drops to block the left path)
Hobbit (Love the D-W-A-R-F skill shot usage)
El Dorado: it's like bowling those top 10 drops, getting the ones in the corners with the littler flippers will bust your balls!
Seawitch: there's something about the positioning of the drops and their alternating importance combined with the flow of the game that is intensely fun and satisfying when executed.
Barracora: figuring out which drop to shoot for next is 1981's version of a Dwight Sullivan-coded game.
