I did a pretty solid amount of searching and there doesn't seem to be a lot of pinside info on this. I found the figurines from Zdoor, as well as the upcoming Colordmd. What are some popular mods for MB that would be worth doing? Thanks!

It's a subtle mod, but I think it's cool, replace the ball launch button with the one from Flintstones that says "Rock Me"

Target decals. There are two places that sell them, Pinball Decals and someone on Ebay made some.

By the way, I ordered the figures from Zdoor, and they really make the game pop.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of replacing the ball launch button. Im going to have to get the target decals as well.

I have the game being restored currently, and I just want to make sure Im not missing anything I would want to have done. The new figurines are already there.

I think people don't add a lot to MB typically, because the play field already has lots of toys populating it. At least that's the reason I've come up with in my mind.

Post lights look nice on the sling posts. Replace the 89 under the left ramp with a blue 89 led. The 2 purple globe flasher change to purple leds. The 555 lights behingd the backboard look nice in cool white on the left and yellow on the right.

I did all of the above (custom figures w/ LED eyes, target decals, “Rock ME” launcher button, LEDS) as well as black mirror blades, chromed ramps, mantis hole protector, upgraded subwoofer, and remote controlled color changing backbox and under cabinet lighting. Oh, and I had the coin door custom painted as well. I’m sure there are more MODs, but the only thing I’d consider adding to mine is the color DMD. Enjoy your MB.

Spots on the slings and under the apron

Kind of an expensive mod for something that really is not in the spirit of the game.

#9 10 years ago

Agree. Looks like it was made for BSD.

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet- If your machine does not have it.

#1 mod- Drac Track support bracket that goes underneath to keep wear from appearing on the play field. Here are directions on how to install and check to see if you have it: http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/01-15202

After that

Mantis scoop protector as mentioned earlier as the Mosh Pit can become the size of an orange if not protected. If wear has started, then a Cliffy. (Some use the Cliffy instead of Mantis your choice.)

LED under the inserts. This game has a lot of inserts and it is hard to see what is lit with incandescent lights. Frankie's head is a good example.

If you are going to put new decals on, get the metal standoffs so the legs don't wrinkle.

I have Z doors painted figures and they are awesome. A million times better than the originals and pictures do not do them justice.

I was surprised to see it. I had never heard it mentioned. I think I'm gonna pass myself, even though it does look kind of cool IMO.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the zdoor figures as well, I've heard lots of people like them.

Figures obv.

I like the little tesla coils for when doctor makes frank come alive.

I like the wolf shown above also and have never seen him before.

Upgraded Scoop weldment bracket.

Color DMD will be a must I am sure.

Check out the pinbits blackout mod. Also the lower pf is kind of dark so I am putting in star post lights. Super or ultra bright leds in the monster and instrument inserts are also helpful. The pinball decals stickers are nice and the pinball decals green led light for Frankenstein looks interesting.

Can you provide a link or picture?

How about a topper?

Thanks for all the help. What about the custom backbox LED kit:

http://www.pinballdecals.com/PartsByGamePages/MB_Page.html

Pinballmiked mentioned one above, but I'm not sure if this is the same one.

#19 10 years ago

I'm not familiar with the Custom backbox led kit but if you replace the non flasher back box bulbs with cool white less it will greatly enhance the colors of the transight.

There aren't a lot of mods for MB because it's already chock full of cool toys from the factory.

I'd personally be careful not to overdue it on MB. It just doesn't need it.

Hi Jim!

Are the metal standoffs the same ones that stern released a while back? I believe pinballlife sells them. I've been thinking of installing them but wasn't sure if others were made especially for B/W.

A Jacob's ladder topper would be really cool. I have the plasma balls which are nice also.

#23 10 years ago

I wanted to try the UV lighted flipper kit the guy from Germany makes. But I haven't yet. I think Joey sells them at PDI now.

That's pretty much the conclusion I've come to. There is already a bunch of stuff on the playfield, adding more just seems like it could end up being too much.

I really like the ZDoor custom painted figures but they are pretty expensive. Are they difficult to remove? And do you have to send them out to be painted and then are left without the figures for a while before they are done?

Also, someone mentioned "little tesla coils for when doctor makes frank come alive". What are those?

I don't think the figures are very difficult to switch out. You don't send your figures to him to redo, you either swap them out, or buy completely new ones. Here's the thread on it:

Edit: Except for Frank, he needs to be sent to be redone

Really dumb question, but I ordered the button that says "Rock Me" from Pinball Life (http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=966) and when I went to install it, the button or words "Rock Me" are sideways and I can not figure out how to adjust it so it it straight across.

Any ideas?

Also...does everyone know of the Easter Egg to get Lymans Lament starting on first ball? I saw it on IPDB this morning and tried it out, pretty cool.
