Quoted from PEN:

I have owned around 30 vids, but currently only have Crystal Castles. I consider it to be one of the best classic arcade games right at the end of an era (1983). It is the second Crystal Castles I have owned. I consider it my favorite vid, and part of that is the art on the screen and on the cab. I bought a vintage wool couch to match it . I couch is old enough to have been called a Davenport.

why no Defender or Stargate or Zazzon in the list ?

#263 4 years ago

...of course, the RoadBlasters is primo too.

#265 4 years ago
Quoted from PACMAN:

Short answer. I can't have everything
I started with rarer titles, from there I've worked my way back to more common stuff like those you mentioned. I may get them, we'll see.

cool.
well, if you ever want to sell it all as 1 bundle, let me know

#267 4 years ago

too nice
aside from drooling to get Choplifter & RoadBlasters in the collection...

i've also been looking for find awesome representations of the arcade games that would match each of my pins that are based on 80's arcade games, such as:

Defender
Tron LE
Q*berts Quest
Space Invaders
Joust
Super Mario Bros
Mr & Mrs Pacman
Star Wars
...few others...

One day, it'd be great to see the arcades next to the pins.

#269 4 years ago

...and Spy Hunter.
...and Krull.

...think i draw the line at Street Fighter 2.

Well I can see that, the resto vs repro thing. Personally I would take a fresh built repro cab over an original.

man, that statement on klov issues a 2 year all-out global thermonuclear division & assault

Quoted from Chosen_S:

It could play DOT, , but to do it right I need a pull spinner, which I dont have, and couldnt find at the time, of course, I think there is one available now... one day

Anyone have a bartop like arcade game that can take quarters?
I want to make something like this for a location or two...
P.S. not mega touch, something like a jamma game setup.

Playchoice 10 countertop

#451 4 years ago
Quoted from dantebean:

I've watched PACMAN's restores for a few years now. I have yet to figure out if he plays them, just collects them, resells them, or just hoards them until he can unload them in the future. No judgement here and are some of the best looking games I have ever seen.

he's making them all for my private collection

#454 4 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

When did you hit the lottery?

just sold my TOM at TFP for $10,000,000 last weekend so I can finally afford to buy his collection now.
adding the colorDMD really made the difference

Playchoice 10 Countertop replacement joystick
Mine has a few small parts inside that are completely worn, that I'd need to custom make to get working. So, this full replacement is amazing. I can now merge the working parts from 1 of the old joysticks into the best parts of the 2nd joystick, so both p1 & p2 sticks are in best condition

EDOT looks a little lonely back there

#507 4 years ago
Quoted from PACMAN:

It is, i have to redo 1 of the side art decals on it, got lots of bubbles from the pre mask.

if i could take like a month off during the summer and just come and apprentice with you, it would totally be a blast & improve my own repair todo list skills

Yes, yes you could Probably have a slight melamine after taste though.

have you ever added any time capsule easter eggs inside the cabs you fix up ?

#553 4 years ago
Quoted from marcand:

Own: Centipede Coctail, Ms. Pac Coctail
Owned in collection and sold: Jr. Pac, Asteroids X2, Track & Field, Smash TV, Dragon Spirit, E-Swat, Centipede (upright), Neo Geo (2-slot), Bad Dudes, Dark Stalkers

so you definitely like Centipede. do you like your cocktail version or upright version better, having owned both?
...or is it more about use of space?

ps. i have an upright centipede cabaret

#559 4 years ago

For sale on 6 street, Austin image.jpg

#563 4 years ago

got a new toy today (has multigame mod too)
cabinet & CPO are 10 of 10 condition
dig me some cabarets & vectors !

anyone know if there's a way to slow down the breakout game mod?

tempest-1.jpg

#565 4 years ago
Quoted from marcand:

The real reason is aesthetic. My wife converted part of the unfinished basement to an arcade by putting up some drywall, painting it black and then putting up decals. I have Space Invaders on one wall and Centipede on another. I had an upright, but the cocktail shows it off better (see pic...sorry about the flash).
I prefer Millipede to Centipede. I am trying to trade for a Multi-Milli board (Braze Kit) and then get the stuff to get it onto my Centipede cab (with adapter).

Centipede wall.JPG (Click image to enlarge)

hey... looks like you totally dig centipede...
if i remember, i'll take a pic of something you'll probably want

TRON's evil cousin

#574 4 years ago
Quoted from PACMAN:

If you can find a working Slither board set i can build the rest.

could you / would you - build a stargate cabaret for me?

#578 4 years ago

don't ever say I haven't given you a reason to drink, Tron & EDOT fans...
recommend you have 3 or 4 drinks before watching (don't give up... watch the whole thing)

I resemble that comment

#814 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballsmith:

I did find one, but the owner wants to repair some issues with it first when he gets around to it. I offered a good price for it, but when I actually bring it in is up in the air at the moment.

Smells fishy

I've had to pry a few games away from people... But that's an odd one.
Look out for the "local guy" who will conveniently show up and talk him out of it in person, while you're waiting in the wings

got an unplanned call from STI today.
(they never called to coordinate date/time).
they said they were going to deliver in 45 minutes from then.
there was no way i could get home for delivery.
so, asked them to call & schedule a day next week. boooo....

didn't get to take delivery of new toy today
so maybe next week i'll post a pic.

Wondering where ya fell off to

#862 4 years ago
Quoted from j_m_:

they will be restored to their former stand-up glory. my neighbor has already done one and it came out amazing
did they even have q*berts in cabarets [officially, not operator conversions]?

I don't think it was ever a mini. I'm just space constrained lately and only have room for a couple minis

#863 4 years ago

Speaking of which....

Look who finally arrived today

Quoted from robotron:

thats how i started. then i added nos robotron cabaret, nos make trax, nos crush roller, bubbles #1 prototype in cabaret.

Soooo nice !!
Let me know when you're tired of any

I'm at:
Centipede cabaret,
Tempest cabaret (with multi game upgrade), &
Stargate cabaret (just arrived)

#887 4 years ago
Quoted from ENDOFLINE:

congrats on the Stargate mini....she's a beaut!
are you any good at Stargate? one of the toughest 80's games out there

Still trying to get past level 1

It's like the Tron pinball challenge of the 80's vid genre

#909 4 years ago
Quoted from Nexyss:

I sold most of my vids to make room for pins over the last couple of years, but the vids are starting to make a comeback.
Bubbles
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Super Sprint
Rastan (soon to be converted back into Robotron)
Centipede cabaret
Stunt Cycle
Big Buck Safari (for sale or trade)
Pole Position cockpit (will be delivered soon)
Roadblasters cockpit (will be delivered soon, and will need some work)
I am actually considering putting my No Fear up for sale or trade to get more arcade games. I found that Metallica is the pin I play 99% of the time, so I don't feel the need to have too many others.

ahhhh man... would be awesome to have a roadblasters cockpit. will you post pix of it when you get it ??

#926 4 years ago
Quoted from j_m_:

I've got a complete, original and up and running Gaplus that I'm looking to sell. everything is original (matching serial no's) with the glass marquee. the artwork on the control panel and cabinet is probably what I would give an 7.5/10 and some idiot before me taped up the instruction card windows on the glass bezel with electrical tape.
I just recapped the monitor and it looks beautiful. the only issue is a weird graphical glitch for the last ship in reserve (down in the lower left corner of the screen). I've verified all of the roms and everything checks out ok.
pics upon request

The only arcade games it really makes sense to own are the ones with unique controls that just aren't fun to play on your home computer or even MAME cab.

It definitely takes some patience because it isn't precut to the contour of the cabinet, it just comes as a large rectangle. So I had to cut it out first right along the black edge part and then apply it. Probably took about an hour I'd say for both sides.

is the side art going all the way to the t-molding, or is it cut shorter, and the black is the cabinet side paint?

Quoted from girloveswaffles:

Oddly enough, I've seen more tables than uprights. There was one of each at Arcade Expo this last weekend.
The table got a lot more play. There seemed to always be four people on it. given a choice I'd take a table version. Allows four players and has a colour monitor as well.
BTW there was a SEGA Missile Command cocpit at Expo as well:

I neglected to get a picture of it during Expo when it was assembled and running, but I did get a picture of the back half last month before it was put together.

Quoted from Otaku:

I have the Space Firebird cabaret. Looks like your was painted black. Does your have the bezel? Not sure if I see it in the picture. Unfortunately mine is missing it. Very rare piece. Have yet to locate a boardset but after research I think the set from the cocktail machine would work with a EPROM swap for accuracy. (or an upright without the EPROM swap, which are also very rare though.)

here's my last pic of it
