Quoted from PACMAN:

Some really sweet titles you got there CoinDork.
These are on my want list:
Bandido
Blue Shark
Gravitar
Gun Fight
Sea Wolf
Sinistar
But i already have too many games...

I feel you. I’m at the point now where I’m really selective and pass on games I would have bought in the past because space is a premium. Gotta pick and choose wisely these days.
Pretty much out of space, yet I keep buying

Quoted from gweempose:

Perhaps this is a silly question, but why so many Timbers? Is it a rare title in high demand?

Yes, Timber is a pretty rare game that is really quite fun and highly desirable.
It came out right around the time of the arcade crash in 84 when the big arcade like Aladdins Castile started closing up locations.
The production run is just over 500 machines so it was rare from the get go.
Theres a bunch of games from that era that are really rare like this.
Some because the games sucked, but some (like Timber) were victims of bad timing on release date.
Heres a thread on KLOV I started a while back.
https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=428401&highlight=timber+tapper

Looks like he's doing a fantastic job with these.
If I didn't have a Timber I would be buying one.

Acquired this EM Sub game rescently.
A buddy went and grabbed it for me and dropped it off at my folks house in SoCal.
Need to make a road trip out there to go pick her up.

Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

Just finished a restore on my Qbert. It is a really early one. The hang tags inside the game all say "sample test". Sadly someone butchered it by painting it with the same color paint as the lines in the street. Had to remove all of that and start over. It came out pretty good.[quoted image][quoted image]

I had a Qbert a few years back that was an operator conversion to 1942.
Most of the original Qbert harness was still inside and had been hacked in the conversation.
It had a couple paper tags hanging off the harness that said the same thing.
My buddy Phil has the cabinet now and is converting it back to Qbert.

Anyhow, I was doing some research and it seems that they put test machines out at specific locations before they actually put these into mass production.
They put them out at specific location and had people taking notes on the players reaction to try to gauge if the machine would be a success or not.
Apparently they even did this in some locations where there were people watching from behind a two way mirror so the players did not know they were being observed.

Quoted from pycur:

Hi there! I just got a Time Crisis 2 Deluxe 50" dual game. And everything was fine, until about 10 minutes. After that the right monitor lost the game's signal. And I can't find out how to start the checking. Can anyone help me, or tell me a place where I can find a specialist who will answer me? The red lines are other problem with a game panel, and will be replaced.
Thanks![quoted image]

I had one of these for a while.
The monitors are nothing more than rear projection TVs. In fact if one of them ever goes completely out, a rear projection TV is a drop in replacement.
I would start with checking you connections and see if you have a lose cable somewhere.

Quoted from SilverUnicorn:

Fulltilt is correct, and j_m_ nailed it. Atari Black Widow in a Gravitar cabinet. Most Black Widow games were conversions, typically from Gravitar cabinets. It had Black Widow art on it when I got it but it was not in good shape so I peeled it off to reveal the Gravitar art underneath (which I think is better looking anyway)
Chris

Black Widows were factory converted from Gravitars.
Check the back of the machine and see if it has the ID tag.
Its probably a dedicated machine (I.E. factory conversion) rather than a field conversion from an OP.

This 1968 EM Williams Space Pilot is part of the exhibit of the Dutch Pinball Museum in Rotterdam. A very interesting game that works with fans. I made the video to explain the game to the general public that visits the museum.
Enjoy!

Very cool.
The Museum of Pinball in Banning California has one of these. As does the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.
Very interesting and fun machine.
Thanks for sharing.

Picked this up yesterday to add to my black and white arcade game collection (which is one of my main collecting areas).

Tora Tora
Its basically the attack on Pearl Harbor as a video game.
Similar game play to Space invaders, only the moon bases are a row of US battleships and your being attacked by Japanese zeros in groups of three.
There’s even a single plane that comes down that’s a kamikaze and crashes into your ships.

Very excited about this one.
Really friggin rare.

Quoted from Chosen_S:

Wow!
I dont say that often, that looks amazing, I’ve never heard of it, and I’ve heard of and played almost everything
This reminds me this email I got this morning...
“ For military members deployed during World War II, familiar entertainment from beloved musicians was hard to find.
Enter V-Disc, a record label created by the American military during World War II to boost soldier morale while abroad. From 1943 to 1949, many popular artists recorded with friends and acquaintances at rival record labels. By the end of the decade, however, the masters had been destroyed and any existing V-Discs at military bases discarded.
Luckily, the Internet Archive’s Great 78 Project features a large number of these V-Disc recordings, which range from military marching songs to love ballads, and big band to swing. Below are just a handful of the V-Discs available to browse–but you can see the full collection here!”
https://archive.org/details/georgeblood?query=Publisher%3AVdisc*

I would think this would not be very popular among WWII veterans, which may attest to why its so rare today.
I can only envision a Pearl Harbor vet walking into an arcade and bowling alley and being like "What the flying F......?).
This came out around the same time period where games like Death Race was being removed from arcades for violence because the cars were running over people. I love this sort of stuff and its one of the major things I collect.
Going to open her up and do some work on her this weekend.
I took the lower back door off to tuck in the power cable before I moved it. and its pretty dusty inside.
She plays, but needs cleaned up and the monitor re-capped.
Also, Its a mirrored game, but either the bulb or starter is burnt out.
I asked the guy if it had a colored background and he did not know.
When I had the lower back door off, I could see the edges of the black light reactive background, but couldn't tell what the art looked like.
Can't find a video of it online either.
Guess I will find out this weekend.

Delved a little bit into Tora Tora tonight.
The machine does have a black light for a reflective background (like Space Invaders) and a color gel to simulate color for a black and white game.
Basically the gel colorizes the water and the are you are firing from. The cardboard behind the glass is orange and reflects though the mirror to make the sky orange and pair it with the orange in the bezel so there is a transition. Got the black light working and replaced the bulbs for the marquee.
Gonna need to recap the monitor at a minimum and will probably replace the caps on the PCB, power supply and sound board while I’m at it.
Anyhow, here’s what she looks like in color.
Basically Pear Harbor the arcade game.

Seeburg Ray-O-Light game?

Chicken Sam maybe?

I’ve got a Shoot The Bear in my garage and looks very similar.

Quoted from rod90:

Yes, it is the wartime conversion. It pre-dates Shoot the Bear.

Wait, what?
It’s it a Trap the Jap? Or Shoot the Jap? Or one of the conversions where you shoot Hitler?
Would love to see some pictures.

This is the listing from the completed E-bay transaction. I have a Shoot the Bear that I have to finish before I move onto this.

That’s really frigin cool.
Good on you for taking on this project to save it.

I’ve never actually seen a war conversion in person. I think they are really fascinating as a lot of the artwork seems hand done making each machine kind of unique in its own way.

Some of the ones pictured here are really interesting.

Picked this up for $650. Fantastic original working condition, looks completely untouched inside. Power supply has corrosion sadly. The couple I bought it from said they bought it from a collector a few years back but needed the space.

Anybody have a SEGA Frogs they want to sell?
Not to be confused with Frogger (totally different game).
I believe it was called Frogs and Flys on the Intellivision.

Quoted from Blake:

Good luck. Thats a pretty rare game. They bring a hefty price too. Really cool game with the bezel art and back drop art.

Yep, I’m aware. My main collecting interest is black and whites and I have no issue having to pony up on the price for the right machine.
Here’s the current configuration of our main arcade room at the house. Want to add a Frogs to that lineup.

Quoted from Blake:

Thats a pretty sweet row. I know I've seen some of those machines of yours on KLOV. My handle is mk3u2012 there. Sega Combat is certainly an underrated EM. A friend of mine had a beautiful example. Blue Shark is highly sought after. VP is always fun. Play that at FunSpot in Laconia NH. Same with Skydiver. Which I'd really love to come across one to purchase. Seen a few Stunt Cycles but have never played one. Cool to see the upright Sheriff. I have seen a lot of gameplay on the two player unit Gunfight.
Here is my B&W lineup:
Asteroids
Rip Off
Breakout
Space Invaders Deluxe
Midway Gunfight
Sportorama (cool pong clone)
Battlezone (cabaret)
Shark jaws

Nice, Shark Jaws is pretty impressive.
Ive never owned that machine.

I own a bunch of other black and white titles as well that are either in other rooms or that garage.
That's about 1/3 of them I suppose.

Quoted from Zartan:

Has anyone scratch built an arcade (Paperboy)? I want to try but I don’t want to spend more on homemade than actually purchasing a used one.

The other option is to be on the lookout for a Championship Sprint, which is the same cabinet.

Quoted from rod90:

I like the odd ball stuff. It is fun seeing adults go for a ride.
[quoted image]

There’s another version of it that’s let’s just say is a little more inappropriate.
