I always want to play a Krull pinball machine!

Quoted from kciaccio:

Me too!

I don’t get much opportunity to acquire games anymore, especially since Covid, so I am left to build what I want from whatever resources I can find, sometimes it starts with only a photo and years of desire.

(I added a few more pics on my previous post of things I’ve made over the years)

Well after a long hunt I finally found a special game I have wanted to add to my collection for years and just finished fixing it up. I have been looking for unique arcade games with unique controls and this game fits the bill. Years ago I played the game at PHOF and I instantly fell in love with it. Certain games have that special feeling and never seem to get stale and this game has that magic feeling of fun and has you pushing the start button over and over again. It is a simple game in terms of graphics and presentation but it is a difficult game that challenges you with a precise knob control technique that keeps you on your toes while playing.

When I got the game and was trying to determine what to do for graphics- a light bulb went off in my head. I was staring at the game and had a great idea pop up. I thought to myself-if I am going to redo the cabinet decals-I might as well make them pop and do something custom. I was looking at the front bezel and saw the red, orange and green colored balloons sticking out brightly. I had an instant thought of-it would be cool to do colored balloons on side art to match the front bezel more and make it unique.

I ended up getting together with a great fellow pinsider who helped me design and make the custom art decals. He has helped me with multiple projects now and is a great guy who is very talented. I am very happy with the way it turned out and to me it really is a work of art and I will be proud to display it in my home. Really simple fun game that never seems to get old and I am super stoked to add it to the collection.

Funny story-When I first got the game I had my wife play it and check it out. It is not an easy game and it takes some time to learn the sensitive control knob. Well my wife really sucked at it and she ended up saying-'This game is a piece of shit and I do not like it!' She went back into the house to watch TV as I sat there in disbelief. Well days later on a weekend she was having some Margaritas and said-'Hey I want to play that game again-turn it on for me'. She pulled up a stool and the next thing you know-I could not pull her away from it and she was having a blast playing it. She was frustrated at her lack of progress but would not give up. Long story short is now my wife really loves the game and she helped me fix it up-so now she has an attachment to it as well. Good stuff

Here is a video(not mine)

Thanks, I also have an extra board set for Circus I would consider letting go and I think Bill mentioned he has an extra project cabinet if needed as well.

Also if you are interested in getting a copy of the cabinet art file I would be happy to pass along the pinsider's info who assisted me.

#4509 52 days ago

Phet on KLOV did a similar restore on the art but I think he kept the balloons alone color - just not red . I may be wrong as it’s been awhile. I really like the multi colored side art - it suits the game better and looks great ! If you’re willing to share the file I would definitely be interested ! I just need to find someone to rebuild the monitor chassis on mine .

Anyone possibly interested in a nice original Nibbler? I might have to sell mine. Feel free to send me a PM if so. Thanks.
[quoted image]

I am selling my original Nibbler now. It's in great shape, none of the usual Rock-Ola cabinet issues, and it has a great picture. There is some burn, but the monitor has a great picture. I have the original manual as well. I got it a couple years ago to play with my daughter, but she never really liked it much. Feel free to message me if you are interested. I am not in a rush. Thanks. (First two pics are from current location, last two from where it was before, but I wanted to show those angles.)

Anyone know anything about this cab? Was out of town and saw what looks like a Valley Dynamo cab with the biggest CRT I've ever seen in one. Game is just Raiden DX but that cab is ideal.

Also not mine, but a few other neat cabs there.

Universal made some cool cabinets. ladybug and dedicated mr do came in that style of cabinet. the just had different backdops above the monitor glass. Looks in nice shape. game is a little like scramble with some defender mixed in..

There are a universal collectors out there. I am sure its worth saving. It probably has a crappy monitor in it. dont pay too much and then pass the project along if its not working..

I know what I’ve got. Once I cleaned the mud and rotten cabinet away, I know it’s worth thousands!

It’s just for me, looking for an arcade game or entertain myself. The price is right, and it looks fun. I just played it on the online emulator and it seems hard as hell!!

Let’s hope it works

I would not spend more than $100 on it untested and no water damage. $200 if its working. I would say if your looking for something, but a jamma cabinet and get a multi game cart and stick it in there. I think cosmic avenger will be fun for about a month.. I would make it into a mr. do..

I've got a pacman and ms pacman standup. A sit down ms pacman and a Sega turbo. These were my favorite games in the arcade as a kid.

That Sega Turbo looks minty

I have fond memories of that one in the arcade growing up. The sit down version with the stick shift really captured the magic for that era. I can close my eyes and feel that stick shift in my hand-oh so nice

I'll be honest..the screen progression from turn to turn is archaic and cars come out of nowhere....but it makes the game so fun. And it actually has a full surround sound system that works. I think it was the first of it's kind. It's a stupid fun game to play ...and out of all of them I figured it would be the least popular with my kids...but as it turns out my kids and their friends wait in lines to play that one. Lol. I really do love that game! I also love the digital tachometer and speedometer. Sega had some cool stuff going on with that game for it's time.

Does anyone know if the B&W Raster Motorola chassis XM-501 and XM-701 can be interchanged on a machine?? As far as i know they are virtually identical chassis but the 501 is meant for the smaller 19' Monitor and the 701 is meant for a 23' Monitor. I've got a Biplane machine with a 501 that has a busted HV Rectifier Diode and i was wanting to possibly swap out with the 701 from my Atari Le Mans machine. I couldn't find any reference to anyone doing this so wanted to check first before just swapping and hoping for the best
On the other hand if anyone knows where you can get a replacement HV Diode for a Motorola chassis that would be great too. I had a look around and there only seems to be a replacement for Electrohome and Wells Gardner chassis.

Been a while since I picked up new arcade games. Got them unloaded last night, still need to test everything today. I'll keep them in the garage for a bit to play, but eventually looking to move them. Don't feel like moving these things downstairs.

be careful with the smash tv. I think its like trog where the monitor can collapse inside the cabinet.. I would put a ratchet strap around it the monitor to keep it from expanding and dropping the monitor. if you look at the mount, its a tiny piece of wood glued in about 3" long that sits into the cabinet side about 1/4". I put L iron in to support my trog monitor.

Monitor looks pretty good. Might need some slight adjusting, or just some cleaning. Seems tiny but blurry, but it's nothing horrible. I got both games for $300. It was a deal from a friend of a friend who just needed them out of his building asap. I wasn't specifically looking for them, but hey, cheap games.

But are they really clints games? any memorabilia in there for sale is signed to fritz or a jacket embroidered with fritz on it. seems to me like they are selling fritz stuff and he was a business partner with clint.

the games could have been given to clint and he gave them to fritz. but if your not getting a COA saying they are clints, I would consider that before buying.

Recently ditched emulation and rekindled my love for old school machines by picking up a Dark Legacy. nice.

I though there were wiring issues between sportstation and dark legacy(maybe the outside players joysticks are 90 degrees off?). If not I have a spare legends and dark legacy pcb. I have a dedicated sportstation cab. let me know what it took get it to work. are your running a switcher or are you manually changing it over.

Yup you're totally right if you're using 49ways. I tried really hard to get them working but eventually gave up and went with 8ways, and they work just fine. Truthfully I don't notice much of a difference in the gameplay between 49 and 8, maybe some minor accuracy issues at first but I eventually got used to it. I had to make my own kick harness for player 3 & 4, but if you have some spare wire and connectors it's surprisingly easy.

I believe you loose out on when your trying to throw an intermediate pass or trying to hit a pass other than 8 way. thanks for the help offer, but I like blitz too much to compromise it(eventhough I am not that good at it). if it was plug and play (even if it was just work 49 way with 2 gauntlet players), then I would wire it in, but its not worth it for me to loose 49 way..

Yeah understandable. I actually did get the 49ways kind of working but I had to wire two distinct power supplies with two full harnesses to a custom made panel. One speaker per harness and two in one out VGA switcher to multiplex the video signal from two Gonbes boards. All of this is to say, it's possible!

And regarding info, this website has a little info but otherwise sifting through KLOV is your best bet, especially regarding error codes and whatnot.

I will be honest-how much do those things cost? Seems silly to me and a bit of a novelty-fun to look at on a counter top but for the money-I would rather have the real thing. I thought 1ups were a waste of money-but the mini arcade games take that to another level. Looks cool but I don't think I could waste money on them. My mother has a cool miniatures collection
