So I contacted the guy on CL about the minty looking Arkanoid for sale. I guess it is a remake from a company that specializes in remakes. Looks professionally built but running off Raspberry Pi? Looks nice but not sure I want a refake-may hold out for an original with an original board set. Actually would not mind finding a smaller cabaret style one if I can. The hunt continues.

That and an LCD monitor. Hold out for the real thing.

not the way to go.. cax is this weekend. Maybe 20% chance one is there.
2 other options, consider the sequels, revenge of doh and arkanoid returns. both are jamma. then just build one.
someone must have done it before as they are selling a conversion art kit..
I think the biggest issue is the guns. I think you have to use the namco guns and they are EXPENSIVE!!
Quoted from Zartan:Congratulations! Original numbered?
Nothing really original about those. Scratch builds.

Na.. It's a replica with a PC. I may convert it to a Donkey Kong one day but for now it's staying as a FIFJ. Got a great deal and it's in great shape. It's actually pretty fun to play.

Thanks. That conversion kit is why it is on my mind
Good point about the guns.
I just want a good looking point blank cab, and that art package was the best I saw. If you or anyone else has other ideas, I'm definitely open to it!
What's a good condition Carnevil with one gun that won't calibrate worth?
Not sure what's wrong with it, just going off the description, they're asking $1K
The price doesn't sound crazy. The game is fun until you finish it (which doesn't take long). It is good if you have guests over a lot. It didn't last long in my collection. I maybe had it a month.

swap the gun connectors on the pcb to find out. if its a board or gun issue. do you have the shotguns or the hand guns. you can buy the optic board and replace it. The shotguns are probably 2x-3x more than the handguns.
normally its a contrast issue. but if one works and the other does not, that probably means the gun.
as for a price, I assume dedicated cab. I think $1k is reasonable if its nice.

Check the clear lens on the gun itself. This happened to me before. I tried everything and nothing worked. Finally, I opened up the gun and found out the lens was dirty as hell on the inside. Wiped it down, re-assembled, and the gun worked perfectly.

Based on other replies it seems good. These damn things are HEAVY. Like seriously heavy. Like I never ever EVER want to move mine again heavy.
I don't like the game personally but it definitely gets a ton of play when we have people over. I do like the art on the game so don't mind it sitting in the basement

Thanks for all the info, I'm going to go look at it tomorrow. I think it's interesting enough but it's my wife who really wants it. Having a game room full of expensive toys is a lot easier when your wife is on board.
Quoted from DeeGor:That and an LCD monitor. Hold out for the real thing.
Agreed - CRT or bust, but I actually prefer modern electronics. With both hardware and software emulation at the levels they are today, I don't find the headaches of original hardware worth it. As long as it plays and looks like the one that I used to pluck quarters into, I could care less. Here comes the thumbs down from the purists although 99% wouldn't be able to discern the difference between the two if they didn't peak inside the cab.

I forgot the clean the lens, thats a possibility too.

It’s nice to mix it up and have a shooter in your gameroom. I have a House of the dead 3. Pinball rules but it’s always good to have some variety. I also have a Millipede cocktail machine. I don’t know if it’s the trackball or something else but the ladies seem to really enjoy it.
Bought this Neo Geo MVS cabinet today. didn't come with any games but has a first variant 1 slot MVS board. it has VRAM issues supposedly but i have no game to test it on. for now i just have a 19-1 Icade board running on it. And something special from Japan for it till the MVS gets fixed.

you do know that the single slot should be jamma audio. but the multi slots are not.. I would say get a multislot and a multi cart, but you need an adapter or to move 3 wires.

So funny enough i learned that the hard way. The cabinet is actually setup for a multi-slot system but the original jamma was ripped out and replaced say 8 years ago by the previous owner i purchased it from. I just ended up alligator clipping the audio wire from the jamma harness to the speakers and it works fine. if i want to set up the multislot audio then i can change it back super easily. I just haven't been bothered recently to dive into Neo Geo stuff. i can't afford to buy another board and a multicart at the moment or i'd do that. everything's so expensiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

dont bother buying carts... If its not on the 161, then maybe buy those. but if you are after like 10, you probably would pay for the darksoft one.

Will keep that in mind. The Neo Geo board itself needs to be replaced and it's just alot of money to throw away right now. That said i did get the hardware that i bought from japan in today so i'll take some pictures of that tomorrow perhaps. too many little kids and lifting today my back is killing me lol

looks nice and just about captures the nintendo cabinet arcade vibe, but 2 things would bug me if it were mine -- the misspelling of "certain" on the instructions (the A & I are backwards - typos on message boards, meh, no one cares, but it's a complete no-no on printed art or instruction cards), and also the placement of the serial number placard (less easy to fix bc now you've got 4 holes above the control panel). it just looks wrong/goofy there, imo. they actually mounted that placard on the back of the cab (that's why it lists the electrical info), like on this original popeye i traded away a few months ago --
Quoted from Mancave:Umm not if he does the spelling on the placard "certian" points
I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the original movie props used instruction cards with the same (intentional) misspelling.

Nah, it looks way better up front and since this was never an officially licensed Nintendo Arcade, it gives it a little more uniqueness

hey, man, that's cool, it's your game.
Whats a good price on a Guitar Hero Arcade?
Needs:
Guitars rebuilt
Computer fixed
Missing marquee
Its solid and looks good. Just needs tlc.
Have any of you guys tried or have successfully modded your Galaga Ms-Pacman anniversary cabinet with PC games? I would love to add the Pacman Championship edition games to this if its even possible. Never done anything like this before.

That Namco arcade board is an official JAMMA board. I'm not sure what you are asking but you want to play the "PC games" like PacMan Championship Ed. in a dedicated Jamma arcade cabinet? Sounds like a horror movie. I thought that Pac-Man Ch. Ed. game was just a smartphone game.

Pacman Championship Edition does have a PC port (which came out way before the smartphone ports) and I can confirm it is fantastic. I know more than one person has built a dedicated cabinet for the game so it's not exactly a "horror movie" idea.

Well there are “ add ons” I suppose you call them that add 60 games to the Galaga ms pacman so I was just wondering if there was a way to add something like this also. Like I said I’ve never done anything like this before but I see people coming up with cool crazy things all the time so I was just asking.
I played the game for hundreds of hours on the XBOX. Always thought it would be cool in its own cabinet.
Quoted from ExSquid:Always thought it would be cool in its own cabinet.
It 100% would be but there's no reason to bastardize a dedicated Namco Reunion cabinet. It always bothers me when people modified them with the $30 60in1 JAMMA boards that are total garbage. If you want a dedicated cabinet to play PacMan Championship edition it might be easier to throw a PC monitor into a aracde 1up cabinet running on an old laptop or ?

Eh I wouldn’t care as it’s a the last remaining video game in my house that’s not going anywhere. And I’m all in on Pins now except for this. A guy who fixed one of my games offered to put the 60 in 1 into my cabinet but a lot of those game require a diagonal joystick which it doesn’t have. So I didn’t do it. I’m all for a little “ bastardization” if it doesn’t affect too much.
