that one is in really nice shape! Nice score!!
Quoted from rod90:Yes, it is the wartime conversion. It pre-dates Shoot the Bear.
Wait, what?
It’s it a Trap the Jap? Or Shoot the Jap? Or one of the conversions where you shoot Hitler?
Would love to see some pictures.

This is the listing from the completed E-bay transaction. I have a Shoot the Bear that I have to finish before I move onto this.

I really want a ray-o-lite machine. Had a chance to buy a sweet shoot the coon over 20 years ago and passed on it. It was double the cost of a new pinball machine at the time and I couldn’t justify the expense. This one was at an auction last year. Very cool!

Thanks for the pictures. It will help when I get around to fixing mine.
What did that end up going for?

I’m not sure but it was definitely more than I could afford.
Are you restoring the shoot the bear for yourself or do you plan to sell it?
Please post a few pics!

I am nearing completion of my 5th Shoot the Bear. Actually, my 4th Bear and one Duck conversion. I will start on my Chicken Sam conversion upon completion. The Bear will be for sale. I have not decided on what to do with Chicken Sam.
It has been a long journey. Pictures and my progress are posted here.

Thank you for posting the link. You do amazing restoration work and do a great job documenting the process. Please send me a PM when the Bear is done and ready for sale.

That’s really frigin cool.
Good on you for taking on this project to save it.
I’ve never actually seen a war conversion in person. I think they are really fascinating as a lot of the artwork seems hand done making each machine kind of unique in its own way.
Some of the ones pictured here are really interesting.
Just completed a semi restore on my Super Off Road that's been sitting around for a while now. The control panel was swapped to the US version which is virtually the same dimensions as the Oz version with the main wood section. Differences between the 2 are that with the Oz CP all three metal panels are front facing whereas the US version has the red and blue panels wrap around the sides. The other most distinctive feature with the US version (and why i swapped the Oz version over) is that all wheel shafts run on proper bearings whereas the Oz version uses those crappy plastic Thompson bearings that Atari Sprints use. Cab was cleaned and a new CPO decal + metal panel decals were applied with a freshen up of the paint and swapped to chrome T Molding. The foot pedal panel was also painted up, with chrome molding added and coloured sandpaper (with adhesive backing) applied to the throttle pedals. At this stage i've kept the original cab T Molding but will most likely swap that with chrome after the silly season ends. I have a sheet of tempered glass ordered for the monitor cover (the original acrylic piece is fairly sad) plus another piece of glass for the front of the marquee. It does need a new marquee also but that's for later too. I will remove the coin door soon and re-paint all that too just wanted to get it up and running for now. I had the original board in this but couldn't get the yellow car steering to work, after extensive testing it was discovered that the main board still has a slight issue (getting repaired now). Machine is currently running a separate board with the Track Pack chips and is all working really nicely. Quite happy how this has turned out and stoked to be able to play it again

Hey Happy New year all, this is my final video of the year and what I ended up with. Kinda bummed I’m out of space and nothing to work on. Hoping to bring in a couple new machines once I sell the golden tee and Star Wars. Always trying to keep things fresh and running. Be safe out there and enjoy
Arcade walkthrough December 2022
Quoted from JakePG:If anybody has a collection of original, good working machines that they want to sell, let me know.
Like how many and what titles are you looking to buy? Rarities or popular titles? I could possibly be persuaded to make a package deal in person...
Quoted from Gumby510:Arcade walkthrough December 2022
Looks great-love the variety. Love the Space Harrier-one of the games I gave up on. Just like Wacko-once it hit a certain level-the desire dropped off. I may still pay some big bucks for Enduro Racer while my son is still young.
Picked this up for $650. Fantastic original working condition, looks completely untouched inside. Power supply has corrosion sadly. The couple I bought it from said they bought it from a collector a few years back but needed the space.

Fantastic game.

Put my order in with FlipNout pinball yesterday. Lets see how this goes. My GT 2017 has just been sitting around not getting much use since the pinballs have overtaken them. So figured these 3 games will give it some juice. Especially Bags and Bowling. Very nervous about how the "conversion" is going to go. Hope its not to hard.

Most likely just changing control panel overlay, marquee, and computer. Probably exact same control scheme for all 3 games

A lot of wires under the control panel. Ill figure it out but.....sheesh! I found some you tube videos that looks like they will help.

I'm sure, IT said shipping out next week! YEAH!!!
Quoted from Reznnate:Long shot, but anyone have a Mr. Do! that isn't seeing much play anymore and would be willing to let it go? [quoted image]
finding a mr do! is not hard. finding a dedicated mr do! as pictured above is..
mr do is universal standard. so you can get a universal to jamma adapter and play it in one of your own cabs. You can also play mr do!'s castle as both are vertical. if you want to play wildride, or do run run, same adapter, but you need a horizontal cabinet. You can probably find repo or original art to dress up a cabinet if thats your goal.
good luck with your hunt!

You need to make sure it's one that has the amplifier for the sound output, or you'll have to wire in an amp for sound.

Just for shits and giggles-how much is he looking to get? If the price were right I may find room in the garage for it. I know shipping will be $600 for NAVL
I am eyeballing this handheld.
Plays every game up to n64 and Dreamcast very well, and comes packaged with them.
Quoted from Azmodeus:I am eyeballing this handheld
Super bad ass. I posted about it in this thread(previous pages). I use it a lot for traveling entertainment. It is basically a little portable MAME color gameboy. Highly recommend-lots of videos on Youtube for configuration/setup
You might very well be the reason I started looking. Got to get it now. Will post more after I get it.
I’m looking forward.
Going to do another full play through of symphony of night!

That is awesome man! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been stuck on wanting a Steam Deck, but with a proposed 2nd Gen coming out who knows when…
I think this will hold me down for a while!!
I’m buying!
So, main website says it has to ship out of China. Is there another trusted source to buy from that can ship from USA? I imagine shipping from China cost a lot more, but takes forever.

In terms of China shipping and buying on Ali express i have no experience there yet but similiar concerns. Im going to buy it through Amazon. It’s ultimately about 15 to 20 more but then I get hassle free customer service.
I’d like a steam deck too.

From this one? Is this the option that comes with the additional Chip pre-loaded with games?
Yeah.. Amazon is the way to go. I got burned buying a product direct and when I wanted to return the product I had to pay for shipping costs. $25 on a $75 product!!!
If I did Amazon would have been free shipping to return!

Also I heard that replacing the memory with quality simms is recommended. Potentially fixes sound issues on cheaper memory.

Great game. Easy to learn but hard to master. A toss up between Luner Rescue and Alpine Ski for my favorite Taito.
I just can’t get enough of these games! I know it’s because they are a piece of my youth. I still remember the feeling of actually beating my friends on Toobin, or getting to see a level on Donkey Kong for the first time that no one around has seen! I remember spending an hour a day collecting pop bottles from around the neighborhood so I could get the $0.25 deposits to play whatever game was at the corner store. Taking my allowance for cutting the grass, taking out the garbage helping the neighbors, then using my skateboard to get downtown so I could play at “Fast Eddies”, On my parents bowling league nights, I would beg to go so I could play whatever they had there at the time. I wish my kids had the same thing we did.

My son (11) who has been around coin op for his entire life has been my designated game tester after every restoration. Doesn't matter the era, pin/vid/skill/slot. If it takes a coin he will play it. He has friends at school who here about our game room and ask him to come over to play. His last birthday party I had 4 kids playing TMNT for two hours straight. Once exposed to coin op they typically love it just as we do. Even with all the console and internet games they have to play today.
Speaking of Toobin. I helped a friend run a FREE arcade in downtown Rutland VT a few years ago with 20 vids. Toobin was one of five I owned and operated. It was a huge hit. Two people playing it every night we were open. The arcade was originally supposed to be open to the public for 2 months. It got extended 3 times, the last by the mayor of Rutland himself as he heard how popular it was. Kids would be waiting at the door before opening. They considered it a worth while investment to the community. This is typically not looked at as a nice area unfortunately. We ended up running it for 10 months. Rent was donated by landlord. Heat/electricity by the city of Rutland. All time, repairs, and games by ourselves.
