Thanks, I'm terrible at soldering. Would it be better to switch to an LCD? I know it's more expensive but the video quality and flat screen would be an improvement, no? Can it even be switched to LCD?

No way in hell is a LCD an improvement.....

I just converted a super off road to a LCD
I used a 26” HAPP. It plunged right in to the factor plugs.

I think CRTs look way better than LCDs on games that were designed to use them. It is easier to go LCD though, so a lot of people do it. More resolution is not always better if the games were designed to be a bit blurry (ie, pacman looks like a circle because the image isn't clear enough to see the blockiness of the pixels).

Also, if you think you might sell it later, most collectors would want the original CRT instead of an LCD.

Your right most game don’t look good with LCD. I put one in my MK2 and it looked terrible. Put one in Pac-Man also looked horrible. So I fixed the CRT. Put one is super off road and it looked better then the CRT.

Hi all, perhaps you guys can provide some advice. I have a Neo Geo cabinet, the colors on the screen turned really dark and redish hue. Can I switch the monitor over to an LCD? If so what do I need to do it and where to get it?

DON'T ! Try and save this CRT screen before considering switching to an LCD. Games were designed for CRT screens, and graphics without the scanlines are utterly painful for the eyes.

Can you post a picture of the image ? It might need a degauss which is fairly simple to do, the MVS system (provided that it's what you use) might be at fault, malfunction on the jamma plug or you could be in for a capkit as stated above.

#2206 1 year ago

I'll take a picture when I get home. Yeah it's a 6 slot MVS.

The 6 slot MVS is known for being unreliable and highly sensitive to voltage, so start by checking if you get 5v or close to it on your jamma pins, and see if you can test it on another cabinet, or test another slot. The 6 is fairly rare so I hope he is all right.

You have a 'tall boy ' 4 slot cabinet. Did someone swap in a 6 slot motherboard?

If you're ever 4 hours west, I can probably fix the monitor if it's a 25k7000. I also have the correct marquee plexiglass for that cab (used with small cracks) if you are looking to convert it back to stock.

And the old school Atari 4 player Football....

Takes me back to the good old days…..before life got complicated.....of course mabey that's why I started back into pinball/video game collecting...

Got about 110 games ready to roll. It’s still too hot here to fire them all up and have a party (102’) this Saturday but soon. I’ve gotta get a decent AC unit in there for next summer.

Yes, life sure gets complicated, kids just don’t realize how great it is to not have many responsibilities and just enjoy life.

The big ones are a blast but man, so much work to restore and especially get working right.

Atari FB 4player - I think there’s only 1 person on Earth that knows how to fix those stupid Pcbs.

neogeo normally has a wells k7000 in it. Very easy to rebuild and if you can find someone with a tube rejuvinator, good chance it come out looking like new.

going lcd will switch the game to 16x9 vs the original 4x3.

Sweet looking LL!

That was the FIRST video game I ever played in an arcade (other than pong).

The Galloping Ghost in Brookfield had one (1 of their over 650 games).

Don't see those around very much.....your collection is very impressive....

I don't follow arcade games like I do pinball, but have an opportunity to buy a Sprint 2. Can someone tell me market prices for a decent example? Is there a resource where you can find recent pricing, like the pinside marketplace?

Games from the 70's, not really much reference for pricing unless it's a grail like Pong, Death Race, or Computer Space... Sprint/Sprint 2 is a cool game for certain. I would think at least $400-$600 for that game. Working AND cosmetic condition is everything with older arcades like this! Generally, 70's arcade cabinets were made out of absolute junk. Could be quite a task to get it running if it's dead. I actually have a spare monitor bezel for Sprint if that one is trashed. I think Sprint 2 is just a board swap update from Sprint.

#2239 1 year ago

Thanks, the only reference I could find was this, and I figured they were probably shooting for the moon.

Yeah, just look at the pinball prices for comparison and you can see that's not selling.

the key is if its working. I once bought about a dozen of them and it took about 2 dozen boards to get them working. but once they were working, they did not last long. all those early game ran really hot. Great game! one of atari's best drivers

as for what its worth, Today, I would think $700-$1k if its working.
