I have a Japanese candy cab plugged to a mamebox that I built because I couldn't find any mamebox on the market that had the right resolution displayed for each game, there was always either some framerate issues, stretch issues or lags.

Bidders are battling it out on Ebay now.

ebay.com link: itm

Quoted from PACMAN:

Just finished my second Star Wars. Original cabinet with new screen printed art for marquee, yoke and control panel. Boards and Amplifone monitor rebuilt and bullet proofed. Controls rebuilt with NOS parts. This is for sale.

Quoted from OTTOgd:

Wow, too small, imho. Even if you can buy a 'gaming throne'/riser, it'll still be too short. Almost looks like a classic cabaret. And $500 each at Walmart; pass.
[quoted image]

Quoted from Malenko:

Final Fight is delayed till next year. I think Final Fight cab has the best selection of games.

They are $299 a pop (in the USA) I thought with conversion rates and stuff it was closer to $400 for America's Hat?

Again... Im not going to play these if I keep them, they are for kids, 4 to 10 year olds that are short, and are the perfect size to play these games. also, kids are hard on games, even if you teach them to be kind to them, they have a way about them; sticky hands and sneezes and coughs and dirtiness and such, these games will deter them from the games the adults will want to be playing... see where Im going with this... these are not for adults, nor should they be marketed for adults, but the layman adult does not know the difference between a CRT and an LCD when it comes to arcades, or vector graphics for that matter, kids don't either, nor do they care, nor do they finish playing a single quarter on the pins unless Im coaching them. Adults are going to buy them, and want to re-live what we live every day if we choose, we all know its a cheap substitute in every way, but to me its a cheap investment to draw the kids to what they actually want and away from the art (arcades and pins) I have invested so much in to.

I think these are amazing for what I plan to use them for, others may disagree or not understand.

#2155 5 years ago

It's being marketed for adults (if I see "mancave" one more fucking time...…) , but I understand they are kid sized. I've seen pictures of adults sitting at them, there's no comfortable way to put 3 average sized adults around the rampage cab.

My biggest (/pun!) gripe isn't the size but the game count, and in some cases, game selection. 4 flavors of SFII on the same cab, 2 CPS1 and 2 CPS2 games. Why not SF2CE, Super SFII Turbo, one of the Alpha games and a dark stalkers game. I know licensing would likely be an issue with MSH, MSHvsSF, Xmen vs SF, or even MvC1 but there are other Capcom owned fighting games they could have thrown on there. Galaga Cab should at least have Gaplus aka Galaga 3 on there.

a more complete post is here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,157888.msg1659546.html#msg1659546 but we're on the same side.

People will be modding the hell out of these with retropie. So the games on them aren't really an issue. Just pick what art you like and mod it. Is the impression I get from these, anyway.
Saves the labour of building your own cabinet. But costs about the same.

#2157 5 years ago

Hacking what's on there to add games has no bearing on what they are selling. Some people are gonna buy it and be afraid to crack it open. Like I posted at BYOAC I'll wait for some reviews and stuff to come in before I pull the trigger. The controls alone look like a vast improvement over the "midway home cab" from a few years back. But I have a bunch of real machines and pins, I can wait.

#2158 5 years ago

I checked out the cabs at Evo this weekend, I think they're fine for what they are. Get what you pay for and all that. Not for me, but if you're on a budget for a little toy cab I think they'll fit the bill.IMG_7496 (resized).JPGIMG_7496 (resized).JPG

I have around 20 arcade games (primarily vid collector) and I am happy to have kids beat on them...sticky hands and everything....the machines were designed to be played in an arcade...they are not museum pieces...at least to me anyway

Now I want to build a 1/2 size arcade! Like a playhouse, mini bar, only serve 6oz cans of pop, get a mini keg, and even some 6oz beers glasses. We can service those 4” Red Barron pizzas, and mini tacos. Get a child’s set of table and chairs, and a couple of 2’ bean bag chairs. If you look hard maybe you can find a 24” tv and make a small entertainment center.

It a damn good thing my kids are past the playhouse stage of it would be my next project!

I agree with you for the most part, mostly on my end; my friends and family come over to play, the kids immediately jump on the games, and the adults just stand around and watch them, and then pull them away from them, scared they'll mess something up, I tell them its good for the kids to play them, but alas, no wins.... I'm hoping the kids will gravitate toward the little ones their size and the adults actually play the originals.

Friend just pinged me about Atari Football art. Yes, i made it Here's some pix.

There were 2 different cabinet styles and side art is definitely different and won't fit both.

And i think the other cabinet has the monitor configured differently.

Was just going back to KLOV to tell you about this!!

I have a 2 player that I built a new cabinet for, but kinda stalled on, need to finish.

I love the design of the 4-player cabinet, the hard edges around the control panel. I bet that game weighs a lot..

Started restoring my super off road. Converted to a 26” HAPP lcd , installing all new decals. Control
Panel is all burned up. Monitor was not working.

Been trying to find a Wacko arcade game for a while and just lost out on one I was super close to getting. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone have one they might consider selling? I have an original Ghosts 'n Goblins I could trade/+ cash if interested in trades. I'm fine with buying outright too. Thanks so much.

Hey guys, I have a chance to buy a slew of parts as well as Maximum Force, an X-Men fighting game (not sure which particular one) and Final Fight.
Are any of these games decent/worthwhile?

The parts seem to consist of tons of raided/stripped arcade cabs. Any suggestions on what to keep an eye out for? Are any parts more useful or difficult to obtain than others?

You probably just need to do a cap kit on the monitor chassis. If you are comfortable soldering, the kits are available for less than $20.

You can probably find someone in your area to do it for you if you don't solder. It is a pretty easy job. Just remove the old caps one at a time, and replace them with the new one as you go. You just have to make sure the new one goes in the same way to match the polarity of the old one.

You can also just buy an already rebuilt chassis (probably KLOV is your best bet) and just swap it if you don't want to solder.

Thanks, I'm terrible at soldering. Would it be better to switch to an LCD? I know it's more expensive but the video quality and flat screen would be an improvement, no? Can it even be switched to LCD?

#2200 5 years ago

yeah you just get a gnobes video converter and it takes in the 15Hz signal and out puts a VGA signal.

Video quality is more of an opinion thing, I prefer the phosphor mask and scan lines of a CRT over an LCD.
