And the pin on the back that pushes the return leaver is better than the old CoinCo ones.

just be aware suzohapp requires a 100 dollar minimum order.

Quoted from MustangPaul:

Thanks, I ordered 2. But damn $11 to ship these 2 little things.

yes unfortunately their shipping is annoying, I usually wait till I have a decent amount of things I need before ordering from them.

Picked up a machine I've wanted since I was 10. SPACE HARRIER DELUXE!
Needs a little work on the motion, but everything else works great! Sat in an operators storage unit for 20years. Also adding a few machines from this haul.

This is a game I'd never seen or heard of until Arcade Expo 3.0 in March where they had one:
IMG_0174 (resized).JPG
This is about a month before Expo. It was really dirty at the time but it cleaned up nice. When it was on it had a beautiful picture.
I thought I had got a photo of it during expo but I guess I didn't.

Many not shown, have 15 in total in the garage. Figure I'd keep it "short and sweet" with only one picture for now as I'd need to take new ones anyways. (This is a little older.)

I have the Space Firebird cabaret. Looks like your was painted black. Does your have the bezel? Not sure if I see it in the picture. Unfortunately mine is missing it. Very rare piece. Have yet to locate a boardset but after research I think the set from the cocktail machine would work with a EPROM swap for accuracy. (or an upright without the EPROM swap, which are also very rare though.)

I think I'm finally going to restore the Paperboy I picked up last year. The thing I'm undecided on is the side art. Original style or prototype? I think I like the proto better.. but I hate to stray from something that looks more accurate. Maybe it doesn't matter since its repro stuff anyway? Anyone have opinions? And what are these worth?

#1596 2 years ago

lets get this clear, that is not a proto paperboy. its just a dressed up regular paperboy inspired by the proto paperboy. this is the proto paperboy.

as for what art to use, the inspired art is nice. A bunch of what was done to the inspired cab was overkill and I did not like. as for what they are worth, The inspired one sold for insane money. the real proto sold for insane money. A regular restored paperboy can sell for pretty crazy money. even your all black if working would sell for more than $1k. hell, the paperboy control panel alone sold recently for $925 on ebay.

I like the custom side art, personally. It strikes me as what Atari might have done before they essentially gave up on side art.

The custom would look right at home next to a Crystal Castles or Gravitar. The original? Meh.

#1598 2 years ago

Has anybody run across one of these? This is probably one of the first games I recall playing from my childhood. Would love to own one albeit, seems pretty rare.

I finally got one of MACH 3 games working, I swapped the power board that went out with one from my other game and inserted the thumb drive that they sent me with the proper game on it. Fired up the game, watched the install bar on the monitor move till it was completely downloaded and bang the game started. I have some fine tuning to do because a disc error screen comes up about every 7 seconds and the target boxes you shoot are sometimes in the wrong place but hey IT WORKS!! In the demo mode you get to play the game all the way through, almost 15 minutes but even with the errors it was GREAT to play again after almost 30 years. While I was waiting for the new game code to come I replaced the plastic coin slots and painted the housings gold and put red and blue clear buttons in and lit them up. Now all I have to do is get the 5v on the other power board fixed and in my other MACH 3, download the game OS into the other Dexter board, again do some fine tuning and then I'll have two working MACH 3's, one in the basement gameroom and one in the garage/shop/gameroom II. The first picture is of one of the Dexter boards and the rest are of the game in the garage.
