Quoted from MustangPaul:How the heck do you find such nice games?
Endless searching, networking, hard work and patience.
NAW!! I got lucky on this one. Was on a road trip picking up a dozen pinball machines from Seattle to San Diego and found it in Oregon on CL as i was passing through.
I'm looking to sell my "inverted" Space Ace, but since there are so few of these around I'm having a hard time determining what to ask. The Exidy price guide says $1750 to $2500, which seems kinda steep.
Any thoughts?

Quoted from 30FathomDave:I finally got my Sinistar up and running on Friday:
I've been collecting for nearly 20yrs and have YET to come across a Sinistar, so I have collected every piece except the wood of the cabinet.
Plan is to scratch build a new cabinet, using my Bubbles as a template, and will have to figure out the change for the monitor shelf.
Hacked control panel, untested boards, build a new cabinet and stencil it.. how much time could it possibly take????

about 10-20 hours to build the cabinet from scratch, stencil graphics and paint 3-8 hours depending on experience.
all you need though is a williams cabinet that will fit your control panel ( you do have an original sinistar control panel right?) if not get one, they're not exactly easy to make or source parts for. to my knowledge sinistar, and moon patrol, and maybe bubbles used the same cabinet... (joust and robotron used the same cabs in most cases and are wider than the sinistar and moon patrol cabs)
but then again.... you've been collecting for 20 years, so you most likely know more than I do

I'd convert a crappy Moon Patrol cabinet if I could find one, but I'll have to build one. I have Bubbles, so can flush trim the sides with that as a template and basically copy that, except for the monitor shelf position. Have pics I've saved, and can probably get the position figured out.
I have a swiss cheesed Sinistar panel that I'll repair, a joystick, a repro overlay. Have an untested boardset and nearly a 2nd one. Nice marquee, decent bezel, and all the cabinet parts I need from a parted out MP cab. I think it will be an easier one to paint, since the entire thing is black, before stencils!

You do know that the cabinet for Sinistar is narrower than all the other Williams cabinets of that era.
Quoted from girloveswaffles:You do know that the cabinet for Sinistar is narrower than all the other Williams cabinets of that era.
its the same as moon patrol, I have had both, there are some instances where Williams created 2 cabinets that were very similar with slight variances, and then placed either game in both cabinets

sounds like a lot of fun, post here when you get it finished up!

It's the same width as Bubbles and Moon Patrol.

Any Star Wars fans got $20k lying around?

i was wondering when these would start hitting the market. It's going to be like pod racer and the others, where you can't give them away for $400 working at auction because nobody wants to move them or have the space for one.
Quoted from IdahoRealtor:That guy wants almost $2000. Is it that collectible?
It's pretty collectible, but $2K is nuts. It's an $800-1200 game IMO, depending on condition. It's in the same ballpark as Robotron.

A Sinistar was recently listed on craigslist just a few miles from me for $1200, it was in pretty good condition.

I hope that is true because they are AWESOME to play at D&B and I would be glad to sell my Daytona USE 2 TWIN to make room for one of these!

they will. They always do. I didn't like the SW one. because you can't fly where you want. I played some airplane dogfight one that's a battle pod like this and you can fly where you want, felt so much more realistic. The SW one just felt like a shooting game with minimal flight control.
Just let me know if you ever need to use my arcade
Quoted from Reality_Studio:I recently bought a project version that was partly working but has various issues for $260, I made a video of me restoring it here:

As for which arcade games I have, some of them can be seen in this video I just posted a few days ago:
» YouTube video
Hopefully that video won't offend anyone here because it definitely offended some over on Klov. But in that video you can see:
Millipede
QBert
Frogger
Crystal Castles
Ms Pacman
Jr Pacman (conversion)
Out Run
Tempest
Defender
Robotron
Space Duel.
Aside from the games seen there I also have these at another location:
Jr Pacman (dedicated)
Road Blasters
Joust
Super Pacman
I'm also in the process of restoring a Stargate and Twin Eagle 2 that I just bought. I am looking for Mouse Trap ideally locally, if anyone local has one that they would want to sell or trade, let me know!
Quoted from BulkOfTheSeries:Just let me know if you ever need to use my arcade
We're the same time zone, but a few too many miles apart
Finished my Time Pilot restore, started as basically an empty cabinet missing most everything except a jamma harness and switching power supply. Kept it as a jamma cabinet, but made it look like Time Pilot again, pretty happy with the outcome. Videos of the restore are on my youtube channel, part one is here, it's four parts total:

Agreed I do like the dogfight version better, maybe not being branded it will drop faster. Where is the best place to keep an eye out for one getting dumped?
I'm STOKED!! My Dexter boards for my 2 MACH 3 games will start shipping March 8th. Anyone else getting one?

Probably should have picked one up, now that they're working on Star Rider support...

My dad wants one of these so bad. I think it is cool but could find other ways to spend that kind of cash. But knowing my dad he will probably buy one at some point.

used to be super auctions. Auction is the best for stuff like this. Large big movers like this do not sell high. I know there is an arcade auction still active but I forgot the name.
Where's the control panel art?

Well he may have a few extra or people may have dropped out. Contact him.
Quoted from PACMAN:Where's the control panel art?
Mine didn't come with a Time Pilot control panel alas, even that was stripped away. It came with a different size generic control panel so I kept it because I don't know if a Time Pilot cpo would even fit right. The other reason is the hole patterns would look weird as none would match, like the joystick is in a different spot (and there's two of them) and the buttons are in different spots (and there's more of them) so I thought it would look really weird. Hence I just left it as is, have to make compromises on jamma cabinets sometimes.
So it's a generic Jamma setup with time pilot art? Im guessing you wanted it to play multiple games instead of just one dedicated game?
It's not really a Time Pilot than is it? Also, to really play TP right it needs a Monroe joystick.
Is this going in your porn star arcade?
My CPO is N.O.S. actually so I didn't need to make a repro for it. There are others out there though.
I did however work with Rich at thisoldgsme to fine tune the front and side art.
Oh and I remade the bezel art.
Time Pilot is one of my top 10 favorite games of all time.
Quoted from MustangPaul:he didn't buy it from you yet.

Yeah I got the cabinet completely bare, it only had a jamma harness and switcher power supply. So I turned it into a jamma cab that looks like Time Pilot, since it was originally a Time Pilot cabinet. Sure it's not perfect like not having a monroe joystick, but some games I want are so rare (like Juno First, etc) that I know I'll never get them, hence I did want one vertical and one horizontal jamma cabinet for those cases. I gather you aren't a fan but it works for me along side my other dedicated cabs, and now I'm out of room. All my games eventually do end up at my film house.
Quoted from Reality_Studio:All my games eventually do end up at my film house.
I did not realize what business you were in until now. I looked at your website what is up with the "She Smokes" videos? Is this a fetish? I would have never thought watching girls smoke as being a fetish? Some of the fetishes from today have me scratching my head. Man I am getting old. I think my dream fetish would be girls in near nothing polishing my pinball machines (;

I can't understand that one either. I lean more towards girls who don't smoke and brush regularly.
i have a surplus of games showing up soon. anyone have mixed-use office space in north-west austin I can put these games in & a desk ?

Yeah there's a fetish for everything. Fortunately for me most people don't get it, which leaves all that money out there for me to collect
To get back on topic, I also got one of my grail games recently, Mouse Trap! Picture below and my restore video below that. It was filthy and arrived dead with no working audio but I sorted all that. The audio fix was indeed an interesting process. This is one of those games I suggest everyone try, it's really fun and frantic. I do a let's play of it near the end of the video. I didn't change any parts on this one because it was all original, so I kept it as a survivor and just cleaned it up and got it working again.
Original cabs are very cool, but I'm a player, not a collector, and I just care about getting the real PCB game experience. My candy cabs switch up, right now I'm running Wyvern Wings, Bubble Bobble, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and SFIII Third Strike.
Tomorrow I might switch Third Strike to Hyper Fighting, Alpha 3 to Progear, Bubble Bobble to Puzzle Bobble, and Wyvern Wings to Espgaluda.
I like variety and also games from eras where they didn't have dedicated cabs. fun to mix it up as the mood strikes me.
Yeah, I get what you're saying. 90's games are pretty much generic and easily swappable between cabinets. Good luck playing Spy Hunter, Paperboy, Tron, frontline, tempest, missile command, any driving game, etc. though.
I think a big part of the experience is having the dedicated artwork and controls.

I agree with both of you guys!
I have a mix of both worlds... it's nice having super punchout and tempest sandwiching a jamma cab I can swap whatever I want into
does this count as an arcade. Just picked this up after a 12 hour drive fest. Extremely clean. now I have to find a gun that will work to mount to the trigger assembly. Plays like this but shooting is very difficult to aim.
Quoted from PACMAN:I think a big part of the experience is having the dedicated artwork and controls.
I agree...now who has my Wacko they want to sell or trade?
Quoted from PACMAN:Good luck playing Spy Hunter, Paperboy, Tron, frontline, tempest, missile command, any driving game, etc. though.
Yeah, I'd want original cabs for all of those, but I also don't actually have any desire to own them. Maybe in some perfect world where I had unlimited space. I'd have kept the pins I sold to make room for candy cabs then too. So it goes.
