That came out fantastic. You really need to share some of your color correction secrets with us.

Not sure if anyone saw it, but there was a posting for a "damaged" Paperboy in Denver on Craigslist that ended up flagged - maybe because they were basically doing an ebay style auction, not stating price but requesting bids. Before it was pulled, I did get in touch with the seller, and the guy told me the game has a need for steering calibration, sound doesn't work, and looks as if the bezel might be missing. He said no water damage and no damage to cabinet or decals.

Any idea on what you guys think might be a good offer? I'm in San Francisco and would have to ship, too. Not sure if it would be worth it. I welcome any thoughts. Thanks.

I would never purchase a large item like that from Craigslist and trust the seller with my money. You're too far away to do anything about it if he screws you over. You can never be too careful when dealing with people on the internet.

I have a 50 or 60 game jamma in an original dig dub cocktail unit. Love it!!! I jus bought a new 12vdc power supply off ebay. Mine has been acting flakey and only powers up half the time. Still has original crt tube with no burn in or other issues my fav game on it is ironically...dig dub or dig dub 2!

Is that a decal or painted? Looks beautiful. I got lucky and found a NOS control panel overlay for my MACH 3.....now if I could just get the game working or find someone that could get it working.

#664 8 years ago

The panel is painted, I made stencils for all the different colors. Black, white, yellow then red.

Good luck with the Mach 3 I've heard they are very tough to get running.

HUO Mappy, HUO Tapper, HUO Carnevil, HUO Ms.Pac/Galaga Namco, HUO Space Ace and Amp Star Wars with a cool bar love tester for good measure

#666 8 years ago

Only 2 of the classics:
Ms. Pac-Man - S/N #26,350 - of an estimated number I have seen several times, of in excess of 115,000 made
(all versions including standups, cocktail tables, etc.).

Space Invaders - S/N #31,847 of more than 60,000 made.

Sorry but at my house, the Pins rule.
(At least for now, LOL).

But, I'd enjoy adding a Gangbusters and a PaperBoy.

Dang that was a lot of work but from the quality of your work I can see you enjoy what you do.

#668 8 years ago

I'd love to have a Darius gaiden, whatever the latest outrun is, an all in one Mortal Kombat with an insane sound system, and a super Mario bros 3

And a few pc dedicated cab games... Lovers in a dangerous space time and geometry wars

Pins rule in my house too, but I have my weaknesses

I have a Galaga '88 JAMMA PCB waiting to finally be installed in an original Quadro Games Jumbo with rotating screen (arcade CRT) which I'm on a hunt for. Not easy to find, but well worth the wait - LCDs or PC-CRTs just don't give me the original "arcade-feeling" at all. I'm planning on using 3 "channels" on the Quadro for PCBs and the 4th one for a MAME PC.

I'm really excited to have found a nice Paperboy recently, and now I'm on the hunt for a nice Food Fight. Anyone have one they'd be willing to sell? Thanks.

Finally finished the restore on my Super Sprint after doing bit's here and there over nearly a 4 month period. I'm fairly happy with the results as this is my first major (balls and all) restore project. I've got more pics of the machine in various stages and how the process unfolded in another thread if people are interested.

Great list of vectors. I'd really like to find a Speed Freak myself sometime soon; and a Boxing Bugs. Probably the two highest on my vector want list.

2 x San Francisco Rush the Rock w/ LCD upgrade
Ms. Pacman w/ 60-1 w/ fire buttons mapped to player 1 & 2 buttons to keep "stock" look

and currently on the hunt for a grail game == Star Wars Trilogy Arcade

I used to have 2 boxing bugs, 2 warriors, 2 cosmic chasms, barrier, star hawk, and ripoff cocktail, but they left with the great "why do I need them all" purge.. Before that was the "why am I collecting laserdisc games purge". Of all the games that I have let go, the ones I miss are cosmic chasm, boxing bugs and turkey shoot.

I also miss mystic marathon, but I will probably put that in my spare duramold cabinet. I was going to try to put in an inferno, but I don't think it could be a 2 player game in that confined space..

Did you have MACH 3?

#688 8 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

Not anymore. Mach 3, Firefox(ur and cockpit), and star rider sitdown were last 3 ld games I had. I was offered a Mach 3 cockpit a year or so ago and it was a pass. If it was an ur, I would have given it a thought. at one point I also had space ace, dragons lair, cliffhanger, astron belt, and super don. I briefly had a freedom fighter and badlands, but I got those when I was done with laserdisc and passed it along to another collector.

Cool, when mine was working it was set to demo mode so you could play all the way through, 15 minutes of non stop action...what a work out. Mine won't go past the 2nd line on the boot screen and I haven't found anyone who can come and work on it.

I would contact joe about it. He is probably on here as acejedi (thats his sig on klov). He is expert at all things laserdisc. I have not messed with laserdisc in 10+ years.

#692 8 years ago

This is what I'm currently working on at the moment out of about a dozen other projects. This version of Space Invaders is pretty rare in the States. I'm still trying to find a working replacement boardset. I know some had Midway boards with a custom finger board attached, but I'm trying to stay original to the Taito boardset this cab came with.

Quoted from toyotaboy:

actually, I think most restorations look like crap. Reproduction stuff is always < original. Even the best efforts with the original atari films are just decent. I would much rather have 10% overlay damage vs a game thats 100% repro.

Pinball, I think is sort of the same. Although I have seen less repro art for pins, I saw the repro kiss backglass and its horrible. I would imagine you have color issues/loss of detail with repro playfields, side art, and backglass on pinballs. But with pins a thrashed playfield offers you very few options and it has a serious effect on game play.

Wow, that's awesome. I'm getting down to a small list myself of vectors I don't own. I got a Starhawk last year in super nice condition. I just snagged a Barrier, should have it delivered soon. I have an original Chasm cab, repro: side art, control panel, cpo; but missing everything else, lol. I'm planning on doing a zvg setup in it for now until I can find original parts. I'd still really like a Boxing Bugs and basically anything else on my "I don't own this vector" list.

My current arcade list:
Armor Attack
Asteroids
Asteroids Deluxe
Barrier
Battlezone
Black Widow
Cosmic Chasm
Crystal Castles
Eliminator 4-Player
Ghouls 'n Ghosts [Board]
Gravitar
Hockey Champ
Major Havoc (SD conversion)
Midway Arcade SD
Omega Race (x2)
Pop'n Music
Quantum
Red Baron
Rip Off
Solar Quest
Space Duel
Space Fury
Space War
Star Castle
Star Hawk
Star Trek Captain's Chair
Tac/Scan
Tailgunner
Tempest
War of the Worlds (b/w)
Warlords

Cosmic chasm is a great game. Far better than the vectrex version that people are familiar with. But its a wiring mess.. I had 2 complete cabs and the monitor and pcb out of another. It was a pain to get it working. I did not want to have to ever fix it again, so I sold it off to a guy in WA.

The 2nd cab was a water damaged mess. I gutted it and sold the parts to a guy in LA who was going to build a cab for it. the extra board went to a fellow collector who did board repair. 2 years ago I sold the spare monitor to someone in OR. I think he was working on a project cab too. I was keeping it in case I wanted to zvg it, but its a project I would never get to or at best zvg with a 6100.

I would say forget about finding the parts for cosmic chasm, and be happy with zvg. Finding the 3 transformers you need for it will be difficult.

As for barrier, its really bad.. Beautiful cabinet art, but coleco handheld football is more fun. I would say its best use is donor tube for sundance(the only 2 to use the 22" tube). I am happy with just solar quest, armor attack, ripoff, star castle, speed freak, and space wars. I thought star hawk was cool looking, but its boring. Same with warrior, its beautiful but boring. The only one I am sort of looking for is tailgunner UR. I had a cockpit, but I sold it to a fellow collector. But what keeps me from really looking is the UR joystick. I would want a better stick in there.

A friend of mine just completed building his dedicated Chasm. I was talking with him on it, and agreed; the internals are a mess. I'm fine just doing a zvg setup in mine; as once it's done you hopefully shouldn't notice the difference. Still, I wouldn't mind having some original parts.

Agreed Barrier is bad, lol. But it's more to the collection more than anything at this point. I'd love to find a Sundance as well, but haven't heard of many of them. I got offered one about a year or two ago for $8,000; but that's a bit much for me. I'm happy with my Tailgunner UR; I just need to get the thing working. Monitor has been repaired, but trying to find someone to take on repairing the board. The joystick is weird. Still, can't wait to play it once it's running.

Got very lucky, my quest for a Quadro Games Jumbo 25" with motor driven rotating screen ended in a classic barn find.

Great screen, everything's working but it needs a LOT of cleaning. It had living spiders inside!

The CRT is mounted on an original bicycle rim.
Love the ashtray in the middle of the control panel.
