Williams, 1993Trouble on the river....sometimes (1 out of 30 games) when the ball hits either the stand up lock targets or the stand up targets to light the kickback the game will loudly buzz, the DMD has a checkerboard pattern and it goes to game over...not reset like the WPCs like to do, just game over, showing scores, but does not go through match sequence but goes into normal attract mode...
Sounds like a slam tilt. And slam tilt is on the switch matrix. WH2O is prone to this when a switch is wired wrong. I'd go over your switches, stand up or micro switches, start with the stand ups up at the center of the playfield.
All switches should look the same. White wire and black end of wire to a lug. Green wire to a lug. Silver band end of the diode to a lug.

Do you happen to be running the LH-5 ROM?
This was a known problem with that ROM (and was fixed in LH-6).

The previous owner was kind enough to message me and let me know he replaced the lock targets before I got it and that I should check out the wiring...
So I will check the wiring, slam tilt, and ROM version in just a bit...

Move the white wires/red stripe to the black end of the diode.
