At a glance, it looks like only the lower-right quadrant in that picture is dark... in which case, I'd check for a loose bulb somewhere, which would take out everything "downstream" in the chain. Using Tests>Single Lamp can help identify the culprit... single-step through the lamps until one doesn't light as expected, and then suspect either that lamp or the one immediately previous.

(It's also unclear to me what the horizontal thing is on the mid-right of the playfield... glow stick?)

Hi folks...

Here are the official links for the Alien 1.2 software release:

Update package: http://pinballbrothers.com/updates/hpa12.upd
Release notes: http://pinballbrothers.com/updates/hpa12-rn.txt

** IMPORTANT: THIS CODE SHOULD ONLY BE INSTALLED ON MACHINES THAT ALREADY HAVE SOFTWARE 1.0 OR HIGHER! ** Using this package on machines with any 0.xx code version may cause serious problems with your machine.

To update your game software:

1) Download the update package file, "hpa12.upd", and copy it onto a (FAT32 formatted) USB thumb drive. Please ensure that this is the only *.upd file on the thumb drive -- delete any other .upd files that might be on this drive.
2) Insert the USB drive into a USB port on the game's CPU. (Note: you can make your life a lot easier by purchasing a USB extension cord, and running it from a USB port on the CPU to somewhere near the coin door.)
3) Enter the operator menu, and navigate to Actions > System Update.
4) Press Enter. The screen should advise you to insert your USB drive (which you already did) and press Enter to apply.
5) Press Enter. The update should be very quick, just a few seconds, after which the game will automatically reboot into the new software.
6) Verify that the installation was successful: the game and video software revisions on the startup screen and first operator screen should show "1.2".

If you're lucky enough to have an Alien, we hope you enjoy this software release. We tried our best to make the game shine.

Have fun...

Quoted from MK6PIN:

also found a loose wire on one of my weapons targets, not allowing me to collect them, hence no blinky extra ball light to alternate.

FYI, you can also earn weapons by hitting a weapon target on the skill shot... or winning a scene... or occasionally from Mother Mystery... so lots of ways to get 'em. Which is good, because the later ones are the really valuable ones.

Yes, seriously, all of you folks working to support this game are amazing! I feel I can speak for the entire Alien dev team: we're so honored that folks love this game so much that many of you are jumping through hoops to ensure the machine has a great long life, despite the manufacturing woes. Thank you!
