How about a sequel to an original table? It would be neat to see a modern day Centaur sequel.

Quoted from benheck:

Maybe one way of saying it is "pinball themes we'd like but will never get"

So "original" is anything besides a movie/band/comic theme.

Sad the days of original themed pins are over. I have no idea what the heck was going on with Xenon, but it was hella creative. We just have still images to look at, and there may or may not be a story behind it. But we loved it.

Quoted from Kneissl:

With all the licenced taint in this thread I see why stern will never go original.

This. Just because it's not Marvel or your favorite rock band doesn't mean it's un-licensed. Sure, I wasn't wild about Circe's Animal House(too confusing with the movie name), but at least it was a step in the right direction.

Maybe a truly original themed pin has gone the way of the alphanumeric display?

WW1 themed pin! With biplanes, tanks, trenches, artillery, gas, grenades, ships, subs, etc. It would be awesome!

I would be all for a dieselpunk-themed pin with airplanes from Crimson Skies, and an overall 1940s flavor without cheaply dipping into BioShock licensing, but being mores inspired from Crimson & "Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow".

Quoted from Chambahz:

A volcano, mountains, cool near-animated artwork for the very colourful playfield, teekees, hula girls... Maybe even a sacrificial maiden to save from the volcano.

Shaking hula girls for the pop bumpers, and a shaker motor for when the "volcano errupts". Get the ball in the volcano to save the village. Tiki drop targets.

Mars, and it seems like Pro-pinball has things designed to the nuts and bolts already. With most of the leg work done it would seem feasible.

The graphics on the Pro Pinball games still look good even to this day. Looking at the TimeGal table on PS1 looks like they actually made a real meatspace table & just took a picture of it, and went from there. It's that convincing.

Quoted from Finrod:

It might not even be legal to sell an Axis-themed machine in Germany, they have some pretty strict anti-Nazi laws there.

This is true. However, it could sell in Japan just fine. The arcade game "Guerrilla War" by SNK had you playing as Castro Che Guevara. Needless to say, those names & references were removed for the American version.

Quoted from Sly_Old_Devil:

How about an Mount Olympus/Greek god type of theme, plenty of myths and legends to pick from as well.

Well, um....
