So the factory trunk mat (seen above) is unobtanium. The reproduction mats do not look like the original and still cost $450. Just another example of a survivor.
I dig the look of that grill! Gives it a snarley look coming down the road- Shark tooth grin! . Tastefully modded! beautiful car !
The weather got pretty warm this weekend here and the car started stalling at stop lights. (glad I replaced that damn starter) Changed carburetors with no joy. Finally the light bulb went off and I did some digging online with the Corvette Forum. I realized that I screwed up when I didn't block off the heat riser ports when I installed my intake manifold. Damn it! Sooooooo, I ordered the gaskets and a Phenolic spacer for (under) the carb. Should have it done before the first Saturday cruise on the 7th.
So after a couple of months driving the car to shows and events I can finally say I have the "High Altitude Vapor Lock" issue behind me. With blocking the heat riser ports, to adding a Phenolic spacer under the carb and shrouding the fuel line, the stalling is gone. I have been concentrating on small tweaks for additional performance like an advance curve kit for the distributer. I finally found a valve adjustment method that will get the valves very close to correct. These 30/30 cams have a very weird ramp system that have a lot of valve overlap so the valves always seem too loose. I finally was able to hook up with a couple of guys with 62s at a small local show. I arrived late so no pics of that one. Will do better on the next one.
