Thanks
I had another unique repair today. I'm hoping that posting these gives someone another way to get out of a difficult fix
Today I had a nasty break while reassembling the PF on Whirlwind. The pin has a few studs that have a wood screw on the bottom and a threaded stud on top. As I tightened one down, it snapped off into the new PF!
Nothing sticking out for locking pliers to bite onto. Reverse drill bits couldn't get it to start backing out. My smallest easy out was too big and just split the remains of the screw after I had drilled it for the easy out.
I then took my smallest drill bit and drilled several holes around the broken piece, staying as close to it as possible. Then I used a punch to drive the remains of the screw through the bottom of the PF. Managed to not destroy the top of the PF during all of this... Lucky
Using another wood screw type stud was now impossible due to all the drilling I'd done... Plus I didn't have an extra anyway.
My solution was to cut the head off a long screw and TIG weld it to the remains of my stud. Then I was able to thru-bolt it through the larger hole I had made removing the broken piece.
The final repair is stronger than the original wood screw ever was.
