Quoted from VonPinball:

It's hard to get it in the mouth without a direct, hard hit ball, as others have noted. I have everything set on default.

It needs to be a clean shot but in no way should be "hard". Do you have a video you can post?

There are numerous adjustments both in-menu and physically. You can fine tune the home position bias to make sure it is coming down in the center of the ramp (the last 3 game adjustments are for this)

There is also a physical height adjustment on the vertical motor bracket. The jaw should just barely make contact with the ramp. To test go into diag-game-vertical motor test. Lower the trex to the lowest position. If you hit the start button the jaw will toggle open and close.

If the ball goes into the mouth but doesn't grab try removing the spacers on the clear roof plastic at the front of the ramp. This is there to make sure the ball trips the ramp optic in order to fire the mouth magnet.

Quoted from PBatt:

There is a switch to determine position. Its a small roller on it. I believe this is the source. I loosen and tightened the hex bolt on the shaft of the stepper motor to try and adjust it. No dice. I think it uses the switches to determine its final resting position. While I could adjust the switch arm, that will still leave the head slightly off center to the right (it needs to be one click over to the left).

When playing the heads does center and lower correctly. So perhaps getting the switch to trigger would work? I wonder if the mouth/magnet/jaws require a "correct position" (determined by the switch), to activate.

All calibration is done is software. Use the last 3 adjustments in the ADJ-GAME menu to calibrate home position bias as well as left and right. If t-rex is dropping too far to the right move the bias a couple steps negative. Too far left move it a couple steps positive.

For those of you reporting T-Rex rejecting shots problem there is a new test. Go to DIAG-GAME-RAMP OPTO. Take the glass off and shoot the left ramp. Clean shots that go all the way through will tick the count for ramp entry and ramp exit by one. If the number of ramp entries does not match up with the number of ramp exits then the ball is skipping over the entry optic. If the entry opto is not triggered the T-rex grab sequence never initiates.

You can go to utilities-volume-speaker type and change the ohm setting

Ramp opto ignites catch sequence. Mouth opto verifies ball in mouth when catch sequence done.
Bad mouth opto= credit for t-rex catches you didn't make.
Bad/ ball skipping over entry optic = no catch attempt or late catch attempt as ball crosses opto beam on way down.

Quoted from accidental:

I did until I fixed the flipper alignment. Stern seems to ship their games with ‘saggy’ flippers. When down they should be perfectly in line with the lane guide, making a straight line. From factory they sit too low, requiring earlier shots than normal, hard to be accurate up the middle, and more difficult to trap the ball.

The 'saggy' flippers are aligned for maximum power to side shots and minimum power to the truck. Not all flippers on all games should be in line with the ball guides. Only Steve does that because he likes backhand shots and easy traps. It's your game to align the flippers as you wish but both JP and Maiden uses "flopped" flippers for the side shots on purpose.

Quoted from fooflighter:

Would aligning the middle tip of the flipper bat to the alignment holes give the intended factory position?

Correct for the bottom flippers. Top flipper the hole aligns to the top of the bat.
