I'm soon to be an official member. Just ordered my LE. Couple of questions:
1. I was told even though I'm ordering late, I still might get a lower number. but, I was also told it was a later run. I ask because I would feel more comfortable if it wasn't one of the earlier runs which seem to have problems with playfields.
2. I saw post for subwoofer. Ordered, thanks team. I also saw the note about pinnovators. I went to their site and saw product they had that allowed up to 4 pins using same subwoofer. Anyone have this product? Is it good?

Thanks, Stan

Quoted from EaglePin:

It just lifts up by the apron and then slides out very easily. On this machine when you’re done and ready to slide the playfield back in, it’s probably best to slide it back to the point it hits a stop & then lift it up a bit by the handle attached to the back of the playfield to get it past the stop, and then you can slide it in the rest of the way again from the front.
I’d say try to tackle it yourself. I was in your same position a year ago. I’m an accountant and had zero point zero mechanical or fix-it experience in anything, let alone pinball. By using the keyword search and reading advice on Pinside & slowly getting a feel for how some of the mechanics of the machine are supposed to work I’ve become more comfortable tinkering with it and making some minor adjustments. I still have a long, long way to go (for just two examples, I still need to learn to solder and I have no clue about the boards for electronics). When I bought my 1st machine last year I didn’t even know what a nut driver was. Now I have a set of them (very handy on these machines). I suggest going slow, learning as much as you can, and asking questions for advice when you aren’t sure. It’s fun learning about it as you go.

Nice explanation Eaglepin. I too had very little mechanical experience and now I've done full playfield swaps. But, I would never classify myself as an expert in pins. I definitely started at zero too.

Quoted from hawkmoon77:

For anyone following along on the issues with my playfield, there is an update.
Two senior people at Stern reached out to me over the last week or so after hearing about the issues and seeing the pictures. They are sending a new, populated PF to my distributor who will swap it out for me. Everyone was extremely kind to me throughout the process. It should take about a week or so to arrive. I wanted to thank everyone here as well for your counsel and support. Knowing what I might expect (and should ask for) was very helpful.

yay for you and THANK YOU Stern. I love to hear good customer service experiences.

OK, my LE has arrived. Number 357. Did quick check:
- no pooling or lifting on clear coat
- T-Rex catches balls and seems to be working perfectly
- Rescue inserts all Red, none clear
- I have the numbers near sling shot post, for whatever that is worth or means
- only issue I found was one black screw under coin box. Anyone else see this? I guess I really should lift Playfield and see if I can find a missing screw.

Anything else I should do a check on?

All in all, wow, this is a keeper.

Quoted from AUKraut:

Check the playfield plastics above the Raptor pit. That looks like one of the screws that hold the 3 Raptor LED PCBs in place.

Well, checked the plastics on Raptor pit. All screws there. Looks like most of the Playfield plastics use that same black screw. All plastics had screws. Maybe check under Playfield?

#1184 4 years ago

OK, for those that have external subwoofer (the Polk one that several have recommended). Can I just hook up or do I need to buy any other products to make it right?

Thanks in advance.

New Stern pin? I was looking for the "born date" on my new JP LE that arrived today. It's number 357. When I looked for born data, I saw this sticker on the edge of Playfield. It says, "JAWS LE" and in pen the number 491. My number is not 491, it's 357. Is this a mistake and they put wrong tag for a future Stern pin? OK, maybe just wishing. By the way, can anyone tell me where I would find the "born date?"

Thanks.

I am LE #301 and this is my sticker 533.[quoted image]

Ha! OK, so no JAWS Stern pin...for now. Congrats on your pin too. Any issues or did it come to you in perfect condition?

#1197 4 years ago
Quoted from EaglePin:

There should be a tag on the back of the machine that has the date.

Thanks, back of backbox. September 19, 2019

This may sound silly, but can I turn off T-Rex and let it play like a pro? Save wear and tear on T-Rex mech. You know over time we all are going to have to fix that head.

Update: You can can go to Game Features and turn off T-rex vertical and it makes game work like a "pro." So, at least you can turn off to save mech usage or if you have a problem with T-Rex, you can temporarily turn off until you fix it.

#1331 4 years ago
Quoted from Chambahz:

I find that tough to understand. Play it, play it, play it til it falls offs onto the playfield. Then get it fixed and do it again.
The moving head on the Premium/LE is one of the main differences between the versions. Not sure why anyone would turn it off to save it for later use.

I get it. It’s just nice to know you have that option.

#1400 4 years ago

Anyone else notice? JP LE ranked #1 in pinside top 100. At least for now.

#1536 4 years ago

Ok, I might be the first one. I’m installing playfield protector. Down to the truck. Anyone know how to remove? Is it just this Allen wrench set screw?

Once done, I will post pictures and video for other folks to help install protector.

Thanks.

Never mind, it was the simple set screw. Almost done.

so how did you remove the truck?

It was simple. Just loosen black set screw.

Anyone install different color posts and flipper rubbers? Would love to see how different color options look, especially the posts in front of ramps.

Here's my idea. I try to blend post with the color of the Playfield near the post.

Here's another setup for colored posts to better match the play field colors.

I guess I'm the first one to install a playfield protector. I will post a video of the pictures I took to do install and to take off parts in order to make way for the protector. I also added colored cliffy posts and red super bands on flippers. Things to note: 1) protector caused newton ball to rub on playfield, so I had to add another washer on top of playfield so the ball didn't rub on the protector. 2) upper flipper stroke stop rivet broke so had to redo rivet. Fortunately, I have a rivet vise. Now, working 100% again and with a nice playfield protector.

Quoted from hawkmoon77:

So do you go over the existing mylar they add at high use spots, or do you remove those and then apply? Also, which PF protecter did you use?

I didn't remove the existing mylar, just put the protector over everything. I purchase the protector direct from Mirco in Germany. The ones sold in U.S. don't seem to be the same quality. Here's a link: https://playfield-protectors.com/22/Playfield%20Protectors?page=5

"7. Replace EOS actuator that fell apart due to bad rivet."

Saw this posted by another owner. I'm guessing several folks have seen this issue. Not a major issue, but jeez, a basic part that's used heavily should have decent flipper parts. Is there a better replacement anyone recommends? I fixed my rivet with my rivet vise, but I'm not sure it will last long.

Help! I guess I don't know newer pins. I'm trying to connect up Pinstadium lights and it's not clear to me what are flashers. I assume most of the bulbs are GI, but I can't distinguish ones that are flashers. Thanks.
