Anyone get confirmation that Premiums are on the line this week? I’m visiting the factory next Wednesday and hoping my machine arrives before then
Quoted from gn0s1s:Official shooter rod now available from Stern: https://shop.sternpinball.com/collections/accessories/products/jurassic-park-shooter-knob
Thanks. Ordered one
Got our first NIB game all set up tonight. Plays perfectly out of the box. Tomorrow I’ll attempt to put the shaker motor and amber shooting rod in.

This morning he would just continually move his head back and forth but further to each side as normal. He would push the electric fence on the left side and over hang the ramp on the right. So much so that the ball on the return ramp would hit him. He also now tries to open his mouth in areas not over the ramp entry. He never stops moving or roars at the beginning of the game. Any ideas?
Quoted from EaglePin:I haven’t had that happen. Is it still lowering to try to catch balls? If you start a T-Rex event does it settle down? Maybe then it could reset and go back to normal. Or maybe there’s some switch stuck that’s causing it somehow. Are there any switches reporting stuck?
I will need to check those tonight. It happened before I had to run to work this morning. I shut off the Trex head in the menu system before I left in case the kids tried to play it.
The first game the Trex head registered the event and lowered down properly. 2nd even on the same game he tried to lower his head on the right metal rail guide and stayed stuck over there. The next game he just moved all over the place and didn’t try to stop or lower.
Quoted from imagamejunky:Any Premium owners have playfield chipping/lifting issues? I'm supposed to get mine tomorrow. Fingers crossed...
None at all on mine. Everything was great out of the box. Just a Trex head issue at the moment that I listed above
Here is a video of my T-Rex head that continues to just move back and forth and doesn’t do anything different if a T-Rex event starts. All the switch tests work and motor tests work but just really noisy. I’ve sent a message to Stern but haven’t heard anything back yet.
Quoted from pinghetto:Just got my premium. Had a loud pulse on the Trex motor. Very high pitched motor noise when in attract mode.
Seems to be amplified by the rear two strings of GI pulsing.
The motors both seem to be working, but the noise is bad. Even with the glass on.
Anyone run across this? I'll give Chas a call tomorrow.
Brian
Sound anything like my video above?
@chet218 I’m still waiting to hear back from Stern on my Trex head. Mine will move around ok but makes a loud noise and won’t lower for events either.
Quoted from AUKraut:Based upon other posts it wouldn't hurt to check to see if the wiring harness for the T-Rex head is a bit tight, causing the head to bind.
I saw that posted this morning by someone. I will definitely look that over tonight again. Thanks
Quoted from pinghetto:For what it's worth. Was a bad #9 node board. Swapped #9 with #8 and the inlanes, outlanes, and shoot again lights all stayed on.
Distributor is sending out a new node.
Chas was great to deal with at Stern. Nice to have a company actually be responsive to tech support.
Brian
I haven’t heard back from Stern yet. My distributor reached out to them today but no word yet there either. No wires caught behind.
Update on my forever moving Trex head. It was the #68 step motor switch that was finicky/lose. I talked to Stern and was able to move it underneath the motor enough so it would engage it properly again. I shall see how long it keeps working. After that it worked fine but then the head would come down way off to the right of the ramp so I had to adjust the left bias to 2 and it’s working great again. I attached an image of the switch below the step motor for reference.

Fan is kinda loud but there is an after market one that is quieter if needed. The Trex motor is kinda loud but not too bad.
Quoted from rkelley17:Need some help guys...I am having problems with my T-Rex, but I think they are a little different than what I've seen posted so far. Sue worked fine Friday night and all day Saturday. On Sunday, instead of opening her mouth so we can shoot the ball in there and feed her, she started just lowering her head without opening her mouth. So, when this happens and you shoot the ramp, it just hits the underside of her jaw and gets stuck until a ball search raises her head. Then the ball will come loose and roll SDTM. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? We are loving this game! Total blast to play!
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Rick
I have this same issue where the head goes all over the place and tries to open its mouth on the wrong parts of the ramp. Stern said it is the microswitch under the motor isn’t registering right. They sent me a new one and it’s a little hard to get to. I just need to solder the new one on now. I’ll keep you updated
Quoted from lawnghost:I've had it happen once after upgrading to .95, during a multiball (forget which one..). Never happened on .91.
But, also, I only make that shot about 5% of the time.
I had the frozen screen reset happen to me tonight. I was in Trex Chase and started Raptor Tri-ball (which I don’t think was stackable before?). During these two modes the smart missile loaded up and I hit the shot and the screen froze and the game went dark and reset
Need some help here. My Trex head constantly moves because this piece drops down off the stepper motor and misses the switch so he doesn’t know his boundaries. It appears my issue is the small Allen wrench screw on the side isn’t tight enough on the shaft so it slips down. The screw will not budge though. Am I on the right path? Is that screw suppose to tighten?

Quoted from Lounge:It should tighten. It locks the cam on the shaft so the switch can signal the limit for travel, as you suspected.
First, I would contact Stern for a new assembly. Second, I would try to remove it to assess if it’s stripped or stuck and attempt a fix while you’re waiting on the replacement.
Thank you for the help. First Stern and first new in box machine for me. That screw will not turn in or out at all. Might be glued in so I will call Stern Monday about it.
Quoted from dpannell:Yes, this is happening to me as well, I think mine has always done that. I'm interested to hear what others say. Also mine is making a rattling sound on horizontal movements. It made a little noise when I first got it but it's much louder now. It still works as it should, catches the ball, etc. I posted some videos below, has anyone else seen this?
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1t1ZASjGK1WyRLrMD97GULSk41awcipgD
Mine makes that same noise too. It didn’t at first but when my Trex quit working it did this. My Trex still doesn’t work but I have found the solution and Stern is sending me the part. My cam keeps slipping down the step motor post due to a screw not tight enough. The cam misses the switch most of the time. My Trex would move all the time or hit the ramp or try to open his mouth in wrong places becoming jammed and I’d have to shut off the machine quick. Not sure if it hurt the motor those times
Quoted from Alattig:I’m in. Picked up our Premium on Wednesday but just got it upstairs today. Awesome game.[quoted image][quoted image]
Awesome. Exact same 2 games I own
Does anyone else’s Trex move over to the right and graze the metal ball trail on the right? Mine will clip it once in a while or he will rest his head too far over it and the ball can run into him. Will the right bias change that at all? Or should i try to do a manual raise of the Trex head with the screws down below?
Quoted from adamross:snaroff I keep getting this error message when doing Balenaetcher attempts to write the image to the SD card. Do I need to delete the SD card before attempting this?
[quoted image]
EDIT: I downgraded to .97 and the t-rex issues are still there. Which leads me to believe it's not software related...? Strangely, when I qualify t-rex multi-ball the t-rex just continues to move left and right.
Mine would continually move because it wasn’t hitting the switch to know it’s limits. I posted a while back in here how my actuator was too low and passing over the switch. I’ll try to find the post
My premium is from October with no play field issues. Just some minor dimpling that is apparently normal these days with Stern
My game is 1230 games on it so far
Quoted from OilGuy:thanks for the help PA, jaw works fine. When doing the T-Rex horizontal and vertical tests, it says please wait, homing motors, then moves the head one direction and never stops running the motor without moving anything. Maybe it’s a positioning sensor? Not sure how to test for that.
I had that happen to mine. My actuator kept sliding down the shaft so it was below the switch and never hit it. I had to drill out the set screw and install a new one
