No. The trees come w/ a metal foot that is held under any screw you want.

Quoted from EaglePin:

Anyone know what the round thing on the T-Rex tongue is? A sensor or a light? Or the magnet? I was experimenting with the bias settings and noticed it. Just curious about what it is.[quoted image]

Found it in the manual. It's an opto in the mouth. So I guess this is what activates the magnet? I didn't realize that opto was there so I'd been thinking the opto that activates the magnet was the one at the entrance to the left ramp. I'm wondering if missed catches might sometimes be related to that mouth opto then? I took the spacers off the plastic at the ramp entrance and still had a few missed catches. It was about the same performance as it was before I took the spacers off - so not perfect but not too bad either. There are still a couple times when it misses clean shots though, and sometimes it seems like it's the shots that have a bit more speed on them that are missed more frequently.

Did you try adjusting the height of the trex so the jaw slightly rests on the ramp? This helped mine.

I have seen several reports of this. Have to remove and resolder the wires to the correct targets.

Ok thanks. Guess I’ll need my dads help then.

Alright it seems that Marc jumped ahead of me on Mods. Now I gotta catch up. My setup feels primitive now.

#2562 8 months ago

So I’m going to try to adjust my flipper. I hope I don’t mess up the gap. Thanks to those that helped with that issue. I’ll post results once it’s done. May not get to it today, playing with my son and taking him to a movie. I’m divorced so we have lots of fun father son time.

First thing, take a couple reference pics of the assembly before you start

It's literally one allen screw holding the flipper post...But keep a credit card under the flipper as you adjust (it's .7mm and will keep the proper flipper spacing from the playfield as you adjust)

Just loosen it just enough to be able to apply some pressure and turn the flipper bat...

I use a small straightedge to keep the flipper aligned to the guide rail.

The tricky part is the tightening and not damaging the flipper return spring...use a T_allen wrench or at least and allen wrench you can get a grip on - you really need to tighten the screw again more than you think as not enough and the coil force of the plunger will move the flipper bat out of position with a couple flips...after you adjust, check your alignment again with a straightedge and your clearance

Make sure to keep the hinge that the return spring attaches to in line with assembly, I use a small wood dowel rod to brace the hinge while I'm tightening so it won't move (not too high or too low - this will ensure proper return from the spring and no resistance to the bushing)

Also, may sure you have a very small gap under the playfield between the clamp and the bushing or else you'll get squeaking ...You should have a very slight amount of upward travel on the flipper, check your other ones for reference

It's not hard, you'll figure it out...just takes doing it a couple times

I destroyed my return spring on my Star Wars the first time I tried so you may consider ordering some from Pinball Life in advance

Happy Flipping

#2565 8 months ago

This is a small straightedge I have for my guitar and it works perfectly for pinball

The pic is larger than it is, I think it is 2x4 inches

Very accurate edge C&C milled and perfectly flat

Thank you so much! And wow I just placed a pinball life order literally 5 minutes ago. I’ll definitely order these before trying it.

Also I don’t know how many of you know about the external volume control switch for Sterns that Pinball Life sells. It is awesome! Just installed my first one. I hate having to open the coin door to adjust it. No more! I highly recommend them. Just ordered more for the rest of my Sterns. Install is super easy.

Yep, the jaw is on the ramp. It's not missing the catch on a lot of shots, I'm just trying to raise the batting average a bit if I can.

Just this morning I saw an adjustment setting for trex jaw hold power. I wonder if increasing this increases the magnet power. It might help with the trex catching the ball easier. Just a guess.

I've been lurking on pinside for a while, but this pin caused me to finally get an account and start interacting here. I got LE #36 and have been enjoying it every chance I get. It's the most fun I've had playing pinball, no question about it. I have it at a bit of a mean pitch, and the tilt is what I believe to be at a challenging setting but still fair. I stayed up all night last week and got a nice score. I love this game!!

This one on my JP is the Type 12 kit with plastic canvas backing.

#2591 8 months ago
Quoted from EightBallTexas:

Which vendor did you use, so many hard to keep up.

My Deluxe Speaker Light Kits use individually addressable RGB LED light strips. The included controller has 7 basic colors, but with the addressable lighting it allows for 358 different color / color changing patterns. As imagamejunky stated, the type 12 kit lights the entire grill area as you see in his JP picture and my type 13 is the Deluxe kit that only lights around the 5.25" speakers that many LE games have.

The type 13 (Deluxe 5.25") kit in a JP LE should look like The Munsters LE on the right (as they the same speakers and speaker surrounds).

My Deluxe style Speaker Light Kits are sold at http://www.SpeakerLightKits.com and my Standard SPIKE 2, SPIKE 1, S.A.M. and older type light kits are also sold at various pinball mod / parts resellers (Pinball Life, Mezel Mods, CoinTaker).

I get that and ball trough check switch messages..usually Number 4 but also 3 and 5 occasionally, clearing them just brings them back later

I would encourage you to write to Stern on their support site, I know Chas is aware but the more people they hear this from, the better...I wish there was a bug reporting submission/ticket site similar to what video game companies have

As far as the error, it doesn't affect gameplay at all...from what I can tell, the 48 v interlock killing power to the node boards when the coin door is opened is causing the software...that was my guess and Chas thought is was probably the case, but no confirmation they are working on it as a bug clear...I'm sure they've had to see i though...it's hard not to miss
