Wow. Just wow. The T-rex toy has got to be up there with the MM castle as one of the best toys ever designed.

The new smart missile gameplay is really cool.

I'm just digging in w/ a few games completed and there is definitely some new things to be excited about.

Do I need to save my game settings and re-load them after the code update? Also, does updating the code wipe out previous high scores and game audits?

I’m trying to be patient while I wait for my Premium. Watching the news of delivery of Pros and LEs (and Eliva) while the premiums get pushed back is maddening.

There are two LE code files in the download and they both have the .spk extension. One file is .spk.002.000 and one file is .spk.002.001. Do we need to install the .000 first and then the .001?

Just downloaded, extracted files, copied only the .SPK files to the root of a USB drive. Now when I plug the drive into the machine, restart it, it gives the message of "code update started" then "GAME CODE UPDATE - INSERT MEMORY USB STICK". It's inserted and no buttons do anything to move it forward. I tried both USB inputs. What am I doing wrong?

Figured it out. Your USB drive must be formatted using FAT32, not NTFS (as was the default for my PC b/c I'm a musician and have to work with both Macs and PCs. For drives to be recognized by both platforms they must be NTFS or extFAT). Why this FAT32 requirement isn't mentioned in Stern's "code update README" file is beyond me...

458 is mine! The rule set is amazing. Only issue I have is the green spring will not launch the ball up the ramp. I am forced to use auto launch. This machine was born on 9/19. Had two mystery screws in the bottom of the box when unpacking. Any help with hints of where these might have come from would be appreciated. Absolutely loving this machine so far!

The fine threaded one is from your coindoor. Wood screw likely from sn assembly under the playfield.

I just played for awhile on the new code. Pretty great update. I like the new smart missile setup. I had an idea to continue hitting Abort until I got to the T-Rex paddock and then use it to "Clear Paddock". I made it to the T-Rex paddock once, but I accidentally pressed past the selection for "Clear Paddock" and ended up on the next award instead. I really liked the new T-Rex movement too. Pretty amazing game!

Found something that was missing on the feature matrix for the LE today.

The LEs have e-clips on the flipper buttons and the pros do not. I find it insane they they would do this for the LE and not the pros.

So what's the smart middle update about? Not sure I follow. Plus any other great updates that make a big gameplay difference?

You have a choice of rewards for completing the smart missile shot. When the ball is held over the left flipper by the up post, you have about 3-seconds to choose from several different awards using the the ACTION button. I hit it twice last night to start a CHAOS MB and I couldn’t help but let out a ‘YES!’ that could be heard throughout the house.

The T-Rex is much more animated. It’s coordination with sound and shaker is pretty spectacular. If you have a JP Pro...you are missing out.

The raptor pen received several enhancements. That area eats up a good portion of playfield, so I was cringing to see so many players basically avoid the raptor pen all together because of the possibility of losing your ball trying to make progress. I think there’s been an attempt here to make the raptor pen a lucrative scoring opportunity and more fun at the same time with this update.

There were some enhancements to how amber translates to points. That and the other scoring enhancements. The control room modes seemed a bit easier to understand what I was supposed to do now. The game only has one spinner, but it is extremely satisfying to rip it for points or as part of a mode.

A few different/new back glass animations, DMD attract tutorials, sounds, and new light show improvements. Overall, the callouts sound mostly unchanged. There were a few new sounds I hadn’t heard before. The game would be a perfect 10 if they had just got some callouts from Jeff Goldbum, Sam Neill...and the Dr. Hammond actor just isn’t quite the same sounding as the original actor.

I agree with this. I imagine stern was given choices of what to license and nedry was the cheapest option.

I try to remember that what makes a pinball game great is the actual pinball gameplay and this game is def a 10 in that area.

Why are they still shipping it with a green spring when the manual clearly says orange, and they were made aware very early in the first run of pros that green wasn't quite getting it done? You'd think they want to get at least one complaint off their backs.

So easy to correct, unless they have a thousand green springs they mistakenly ordered and want to use up, which is probably the case.

I dunno about you, but Walking Dead is one of my favourite pins ever made. I don’t need Rick callouts to be pumped when starting Horde mode.
I’m also not a fan of video clips from the movie being used in any pin. I find that leaving a little to peoples imagination is much more immersive.
My two cents.

I've put up about 40 games on my LE, my only complaints are right ramp and orbit are not consistent and I consider myself a pretty good player, GC 2 bil. I like long playing games, own BM 66, Hobbit, POTC, SW...I don't know if I see this as staying past 6 months to be honest.

I was told by my distributor that Premiums were to ship second week of October but that was a few weeks ago and I don’t know if that’s changed. The anticipation is killing me. I would love to hear when someone gets word of their Premium shipping.

Mine told me today that production begins next week and they were extremely oversold. Hopefully I’ll have mine by Christmas.

Oh man, don’t tell me that. I put the name down for a premium in late July so lets hopefully I won’t be waiting that long.

Stern generally use flipper buttons with a molded flare that keeps the button from falling out. They often wear down and buttons fall out. Happens all the time at our locations.

They have upgraded flipper buttons on the LE.

I find it frustrating that this is where corners get cut. The cost of a pro can cover a flipper button upgrade that is an actual problem that needs solving.

Hopefully it's a change in all buttons going forward, and they just haven't run out of old red stock yet. Can't imagine they would purposely keep two different versions of a flipper button to save a few cents. More trouble than it's worth, even for penny pinchers.

Just got a call from my distributor. They cut production way back on the Premium's for the first batch run in October. I was number one in the cue but I let my position slide to the second run which is slated to go in Mid November to help another Pinsider out who is local to the distributor.

Darn, we now have to hope for Premiums by Christmas, and expect quality, without them rushing.....

Are you F'n kidding me? I would have just ordered an LE if I knew they were going to push back the Premiums until potentially November/December...

On one hand I'm like, "thanks for delaying our premiums to rush Elvira on the line with alpha code," but on the other hand I'm like, "go ahead and let my playfield cure for another month or two before assembly."

Well, that's a positive way to look at it at least. We have no choice, so might as well have a good outlook.

I know some you also had the issue with the t-rex blocking the ramp occasionally.

Try setting
#237 T-rex left position bias to -2
and
#238 T-rex middle position bias to -2 or -1
