Best game I’ve ever owned
My 3 week old newborn arrived today w/ a June 5th build date and my lineup is officially full. My 1st NIB & like every other pin, my wife says we'll never sell it. she's already started going crazy ordering mods. Now just need a topper.

Congrats!
I see you parted with a lot of cash for the Munsters topper so maybe you won't mind the steep price of the JP topper... LSOG has the topper in stock...
Mine is on the way.. I already have the awesome Tilt Topper (in green to match my LE) but got sucked into the "I can't have an LE without all the features" trap. I will decide which to keep once I give it a try. Or I may try to modify the Tilt topper with the hardware(node board etc) from the Stern one and get light up letters... Who knows..

Congrats! I'm enjoying my topper. It looks better in person (mainly the torch lighting effect) than the videos and the progression to get to goat mania is a fun addition.
I would get your order for the topper in ASAP. When I picked mine up my distributor said he put in an order for 3 more and was told by Stern it was the last of them and they weren't making any more.
What's everyone using for flipper power?
Per this thread, I set it to 7.0 degrees, my flipper power was pretty high (245).
Upper loop and right loop was near impossible, right ramp was very difficult.
I now dialed them all back to 235 and everything is so much easier! Set new GC on the first game.
It's crazy (and frustrating) how much of a difference these settings make!

Congrats! I joined the club last week. Birth date was June 3. I promised myself I’d wait 1-2 months before reviewing JP but right now, my feeling is that this is May be the best and most complete pin I’ve ever played.
It will be a long term keeper for me so I have already been buying mods. I may not quite be done as I still need to add art blades and possibly the a Mezel raptor tower. Must haves I’ve already installed included the Mezel raptor pen and Mezel events sign covers.
As for the topper, unless you must have the goat mode it comes with (this game is so deep, I don’t see the value), do yourself a favor and get the Tilt Topper. Mine just arrived yesterday. I haven’t seen the Stern one in person but Tilt’s topper is way cool and at less than half of the price of Stern’s, a much better value and topper IMHO.

How's the clear coat looking on these new machines?
Quoted from seenev:How's the clear coat looking on these new machines?
This is my first NIB Stern and that was/is one of my biggest concerns. I had played the Pro back in January and loved the game so knew I would want the Premium with the moving T-Rex head (that feature alone makes it worth paying more for the premium - maybe the coolest toy on any pin I’ve seen) for my home.
My plan was to wait for one to pop up on the secondary market so I knew Id be getting a good playfield. After 3-4 months of watching the marketplace, I realized that when they do pop up, they go fast and for not too much less than what they go for NIB.
From what I can tell, the clear on mine, while thinner than many recent Sterns, is good. No pooling or chipping around posts and I can’t feel the inserts at all when touching the playfield. Will that hold over time? Hopefully but only time will tell. In the meantime, I am really enjoying the game and glad I rolled the dice and think I got one with a decent playfield.
Looks great. We're not a fan of the Stern topper. I know it gets you another mode but I doubt I need yet another mode. Shaker & ext volume control are on the way along w/ a big mezel order my wife placed the other day. She hasn't even playrled it yet but she's all in.

I set all mine to 235 after someone else recommended it. Seems to work well. I had mine at 7.0 at the flipper but that made it 7.2 at the top so I backed mine down to around 6.7 at the flipper. Seems to be a good balance so far.
My TRex is making a grinding noise when it shakes it's head left right. up down seems normal. with the table sounds on & the glass installed you can't hear it but w/ the glass off it sounds like gears are getting eaten. is this normal or if I should be opening it up to see if an adjustment needs to be made. I'd hate to find out there plastic gears in there wearing down.
here's a vid where you can hear it. its when the head moves left to right. up & down seems fine.
not sure if this is related but it came shipped w/ a piece of foam on the trex ramp but the trex head was NOT resting on it. the head was off to the side up against the chrome wire rails.

Mine makes the same noise I think. Haven’t listened with glass off. Also was shipped same way.

I fabricated my own custom topper with some reptile aquarium plants, a raptor toy, some insulation foam, a branch of an applewood tree, LED strips, and paint. <$100. I have a few more small details to add like small signs and a electrical box on the raptor pen walls. Looks cool when it shakes.

show the machine as a whole, i hardly can see a thing.
the control room pin that pops up to trap the ball was getting stuck in the up position. then the game would get all confused & eventually tell me the ball is missing. loosening the 3 coil bracket mounting screws, then moving it a little so the shaft would return easily, & then retighting fixed it.

1. Both sides are on the same piece of oversized paper and only the graphic is cut to shape, not the backing. So you get to do that yourself and hope you don’t cut into your art.
2. Low quality material. Not near as thick or durable as what is on my GB art blades. Not even close. Plus, I spent the first five minutes carefully pulling off piece of the packing tape they used for keeping it rolled up that stuck back to the face of the blade when I let one side go and it rolled itself back up from me memory. The art was so thin I was afraid to just pull it off whereas if the same happened on my GB blades I wouldn’t have thought twice about just pulling it off. They need to use masking tape to hold the roll if they are not goibg to up the quality of the blade.
3. The art is hacked. The artist takes pics of the game art From the PF and Cab and then does a terrible job cutting pieces out and hacking them together. On the JP you can see artifacts (things that were supposed to be removed) near the Tetradactyl’s wing which is just a copy of the one on the PF. It also reveals the tools/process the artist used to cut it from the original art which was not what a true professional would have done (erasing the unwanted vs drawing precise vectors around the shape you want and removing it).
Also, the lightening is some of the worst looking lighting I have ever seen. The artist needs to watch a YouTube on how to make lightening. It is super easy to do well and he/she totally missed it.
4. The artist does not appear to understand color matching. The simply don’t match the rest of the game.
I don’t mean to bash the artist and/or company but if I am going to install something on an $8k game it is to make it look better. These just don’t.
PM me if you want some new pingraffix JP blades at a discount.

Since I'm new here, what's the deal with the auto-plunge? Should it feed the right inlane every time? I'm getting it to do so about 60% of the time. I've played with the plunge power but haven't found something that always works.

Unfortunately that’s one of the inconsistencies. Look for a post here that recommends a washer under the left screw of the metal fork. That’s worked for some.

Well, my control room pin stuck again today so I tried adjusting it again.
Weirder is the exact same screw that I posted a pic of yesterday came off again today. It's from the clear plastic on top of the trex ramp. Just tightened the shit out of it. Wonder how many games it'll last.
20200626_170836 (resized).jpgQuoted from Ccondo:I posted this in the other JP thread as well but I have a new problem since yesterday...
The up post on the control room shot is somehow dropping lower and I keep getting balls stuck in the divot where the post comes out. Suggestions?
I know this is 7 months old & likely been answered but I'm looking for my own stuck ball solution, saw this, & was just working on that pin. if you go under the playfield to that solenoid. it has a little rubber tipped thumbscrew that you can adjust to set the down position of that pin.
Edit - since I still had the glass off I went back & snapped a pic.

Mine came out a few times. I put some blue loctite on the threads and that fixed it
Quoted from imagamejunky:Can any of you verify if the topper works with code 1.0?
Thanks
I believe I saw it does NOT work with 1.0 code, but the instructions said nothing about updating code to 1.01 before install.
Quoted from EaglePin:For the gate in the pops, have you checked that your machine is level left to right? I just took the glass off mine and tried to place a ball there and it wouldn’t stay. That gate and rubber are sloped to let the ball roll away. I then tried to recreate your picture to compare my gate to yours. See my picture below. Mine doesn’t look like it’s set up much different from yours, but if your machine is level then maybe try adjusting your gate so it rests a fraction of an inch further out.
For the stuck ball in the raptor cage have you tried loosening the screw I circled in red in your picture below (or another screw in that area that might be holding that plastic tight)? Loosening it just a bit might give it enough wiggle to not have the ball stick there. Just an idea and I don’t know though if loosening it too much might increase the risk of the plastic breaking.[quoted image][quoted image]
mine gets stuck at the pop bumper gate too. if I sit the ball on the gate it never get stuck but in gameplay it can. it gets hung up between the edge of the gate & the rubber on the post. it shakes loose.
i still have to learn what the hell i'm supposed to do when "smart missile is away". i'm not sure what I'm supposed to be aiming for then.
when it said "super double special" and "secret special" all I could think about was double secret probation.

It’s the target between the amber pop bumpers. It’s a tight shot getting by the truck.

Use your lockdown bar button to select which award you want and then shoot the target in the bumpers to collect it. I recommend 5 rescues for the first one and then the second time through you can select extra ball

Mind mine hasn’t got stuck there, but I only have 65 games on mine so far.
Make sure you tighten screws at posts. I had two loose ones at the T. rex ramp

If you can make the shot. I think I've only hit the shot twice in 100 games. I admittedly suck, though.
Ok, anyone have a guess as to when they’ll fix the bug that causes the smart missile post to go up and the down (so not stopping the ball so you can take the shot) when T-Rex multiball starts? It’s been a bug for awhile now and it’s starting to, um, bug me a lot.

I know they have beta testers for some games but no clue on JP. Tiltforum is a bit less toxic so if it wasn’t mentioned there it might be worth a post.
