Yeah, RFM is coming out great. I'm actually headed down to finish up the PF cleaning soon.

I installed all new speakers and custom painted it with a black metallic fleck paint that really looks nice. But what stinks is I have to wait for the new decals to get here before I can put it all together and play it. It's like being a kid again waiting for Christmas morning. LOL

As I work on this though, I keep thinking of this thread and saying to myself...Damn! I wish Gecko could've had this for another month and gone through this perfectly. I also wish he'd a threw an LED in here too. LOL

Anyway, I wish you could see it bro, and as I told Diesel, if you for any reason are ever headed up my way, give me a heads up so you can stop by.

Same for you bud...any time you're in NJ, you're welcome to my basement! And not in a silence-of-the-lambs kind of way just to be clear!

Thanks bro. I'm sure we'll meet up some day, and the pleasure will be mine my friend.

Quiet night last night...got home from work frustrated and late...so I put up a few games on AC/DC which did not get rid of my frustration

But, that said, I did partially rebuild one of the flippers. I was going to reinstall it, but realized that some of the mounting holes were stripped on the playfield. So last night I also broke out the wood glue and toothpicks...

Maybe tonight I will finish that up, but it seems likely that the playfield is going to stay out while I'm on vacation. Lots to get done before going tomorrow morning and pinball is not tops on the to-do list!

Got some good stuff done last night...it's safe and sound for the next week while I'm away!

OK, so I'm back and trying to knock things out...

First thing was the main ramp flap. It's one of the big reasons I tore this machine down. The old one was curling pretty badly and rejecting a lot of balls. You can see the new one is a lot better. And not curled!

Time to break into the backglass assembly. Man, I didn't realize just how many bulbs were out....

Picked up a bell from Pin Logic...been sitting on this for quite a while. And it definitely looks a LOT better than the original plastic.

This is my big challenge...the ringmaster isn't sitting flush. I first pulled out the protector. It helped, but not quite there. So I'm not sure next steps. It's the right height, but it's canted to the back just enough that it won't seat.

Bummer.

Can you add a shim to the assembly?

#112 9 years ago

Pictures don't do them justice, but cleaned up the subways and gave them a nice flame polish....

So the ringmaster isn't 100% yet, but I got the subways in, fired it up and started to go through it...

Let's see...so far I found a broken GI string (repaired) and two bad switches (also replaced).

But just about ready to maybe actually put a few balls in here!

Wow....that's.....bright.

Looks great. I find it is really hard to photograph ramps, LOL. Nice work on a great machine!

it's actually not quite as bright as it looks...just taking pictures in a dark room with bright lights accents them. But it's pretty sharp looking.

The bell is actually really nice in the backbox. The new LEDs in there really accent it and it almost sparkles.....

I did put a super-crazy flasher in the ringmaster and that's flat-out awesome!

Put some blinkers in behind the Cirqus Voltaire letting in the backbox.

Heck I'm just thrilled that it boots with no credit dot

Now that you have the bell installed, put a second plastic ball in the backbox, go into adjustments and shorten the backbox cannon coil firing interval to the shortest time permissible.

I have done this myself after installing the bell and it works really well with an additional ball - since you no longer have to wait for the first plastic ball to complete the cycle around the backbox.

Gentle bend of the spring when he's upright will help.

be sure to put some solder inside the cannon ball. just feed some thin solder in the little hole. That will make the ball heavier and make it hit the bell better.
