New owner checking in! Belgium re-import. In a home for the last 20 years. This is by far the cleanest re-import I've ever seen. Great condition. Typical broken plastics here and there. It was serviced first of this year for the last owner but they installed standard lamps as seen in one of my pics below when I first got her home. A few hours later, I've added LED's and a color LED screen. Did some mild cleaning here and there. I've been playing the hell out of it and love it! I've wanted one of these for some years and the perfect deal finally came along. What a great table! Also a new picture of my updated current line up!

Items I'm looking for if anyone has spares or can point me in the best direction...

-Complete plastic set.
-Metal top and decal for the Ring Master (slightly bent lip on it)
-Original manual set.

Quoted from DK:

Are there any tricks for the acrobat shot? If a ball gets launched up through there it’ll fly off the return ramp. Any fixes for that?

Funny you guys posted about this seems I can't even get the ball to go up that wireform on the acrobat. I tried to tighten down the end of it where it goes into the playfield but I've literally never made this shot. Almost seems like it bounces off the start of the wireform and just falls down by the left side of the ringmaster.

#777 5 years ago

Well I joined the Cirquis and won tonight! I've discovered if I blast the ball up towards the acrobat lane it will not go up the wire form. If I gently flip the ball up or even back flip it from the right flipper it will go up the acrobat ramp. I found the plastic in the back was sticking out a tiny bit and this must have been knocking the ball off course to go up the wire form. Not working perfectly, but when I install all the new plastics I'll investigate that further. The place that shopped it out last year for the last owner may have bent something back there as well. But it worked enough to complete the game. I had a few cool video modes along the way as well! What a fun pin.

I also did the bell mod. Picked the bell up on Amazon and used a post stud that worked well. I did a washer on the back side of the bell and used a thread nut with elastic stop insert and secured the post to the bell. I did a nut with washer on both sides when mounting it to the back box plastic panel. Worked perfect. Nothing in the ball as is and it sounds perfect as is!

Congrats! Got instructions/list of what to buy for the mod?

I listed it all right there. Much easier then you think! Here is the bell I used, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FZT3Q7F/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Quoted from whthrs166:

Yeah this game is intricate. It took me awhile to get mine dialed in perfectly. Lots of small things that interfere with the gameplay. Fortunately once you get all the bugs worked out it plays and plays and plays. I have a sample game and I use the skinny ringmaster so I had to do the left rubber mod to keep the balls from getting stuck behind him. Once that was done, no more issue. had the RingMaster's flasher short out on the metal post inside the RM and cause fuse f117 to blow. Had to straighten the bulb holder and I placed a piece of stickable foam strip in between the holder and the post to stop the shorting when he gets the crap beat out of him.

I'm finding my self tweaking the hell out of this thing non stop that's for sure. A home owner had it for 20 years and never knew how to get the glass off! It would break and it would sit and sit till he had someone come out to fix it. When I first got it I thought it was wrecked had like 9 switch errors. All wound up being switches that he just never hit in any game play! I'm getting closer though to getting it tweaked! I've had a few air balls that were stuck in places I had to open the glass to get them out. This thing must have been a bitch on location back in the day! I did talk to one operator who had 2 on location he said out of all the pins he had on location, CV broke his balls the most! Now I see why! It is great fun!

#783 5 years ago
Quoted from pintechev:

Ringmaster has this terrible habit of throwing the ball over his left shoulder and getting it stuck under the mini PF.

I almost mastered the ring master for this issue. I give the game just the right nudge when he's ready to cut it loose and either it pops up onto the wire form and gives me a sneaky lock, or it falls into the ring master before he can go down for the ring masters' hideout! Twice is flew into the juggler for a sneaky lock over there as well.

#787 5 years ago
Quoted from whthrs166:

This is the best thing about CV for me. I also love it when you hit the ball so that it rolls over Boom Balloon just when it pops up! Bang! it either hits the glass or is launched to the rear of the game. I hit the DMD the other day with that launch!

I rolled over that boom balloon as it was flying up thought it was going to shatter the glass it hit so hard and loud!

#788 5 years ago

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm loving this table more and more! Can't wait till my plastic set and the plastic protectors get here. Mini tear down and fresh coat of wax will be in order

Quoted from whthrs166:

Congrats! Get the black out mod so your BB will black out during: side show video modes, Fire the Cannon, Boom Balloon hits and black outs. $35 bucks it is well worth it and then some.

Oh sure lure me in with another mod! hahahah ordered!!

pinballlife lighted flipper button install today. Love this kit! So easy and simple to install and looks great! This is beautiful for those who are lazy like me!

#805 5 years ago
Quoted from whthrs166:

Looks good! I like the way it pulses. I did my own with some Cointaker Fast Flash color changers. It is pretty easy to do and it runs on the 12v circuit on the coin door board. The clear flipper buttons are cheap and available just about everywhere that sells parts for Pinball.

I have the cointaker on my Creech but I like the way the ones from pinballlife fit in the actual hole for the flipper button and it comes with the harness to get into the backbox so you don't have to worry about tapping into something around the coin door. I think it's one of the coolest mods you could do. When you have a line of pins it looks great in the dark. I have the other pins pulsing at different rates as well.

Picked up some goodies for my CV and finally got around to installing them. Pinstadium lighting I picked up in Texas at the Texas pinball festival this year and this weekend I scored some original metal mirror blades for $40 bucks brand new at Pinfest in Allentown. One thing is for sure it's super tight getting the PF up now! Here are a few vids I took. One with mirror blades and then one with the mirror blades and pinstaidum lighting. One thing is for sure, the ball can't hide anywhere now! I think the folks at the space station saw my lighting. Sunglass don't have anything on this CV now!

Quoted from TechnicalSteam:

Kind of miss my Circus V. With the way the market is I'll probably never find a decent one again.

Yea these prices are nuts anymore. It took me over a year of non stop searching to find one under 5K in nice shape! CV and Creature are my favs!

Thanks! Next up is chrome side rails and chrome lock down bar

Hey guys, Where can I buy the bottom plastic piece that goes on the translite on the backbox to lift it out? Mine broke and I purchased a new one from pinball life but it's not thick enough for that plastic form back box to fit all the way in the track. I guess ours needs to be thicker for the plexi and plastic form. Anyone have a source? Thanks

#933 4 years ago
Quoted from Sethman:

Planetarypinball or bayareaamusements should have the thicker lift channel you need.

Nothing on their sites but I sent them an e-mail to see. Thanks!

This game must have been hell to vend when it was out. Out of all my pins I own and previous ones I've owned over the years, I get more people saying "Circus Voltaire is not working again!" Balls stuck, air balls, broken rubbers, and the list goes on! But I'll never sell it I think my buddy found the ultimate CV sweater though!

hahaha beautiful mess describes this table perfectly!! That should be the name of this thread! "Welcome to the Circus! It's a beautiful mess" - CV Club for Owners, Fans"

2 Questions for the group.

How bright is the neon tube? It seems mine isn't too bright. Transformer go bad on them or the tube gas out? Or maybe it's just not that bright?

Also the acrobats shot is impossible to get. Ball just bounces back there and it never goes up the ramp. Is there anyway to adjust that wireform where it will go up that wireform better? Any tips on that?

Thanks!

#1278 3 years ago

Thanks for the input guys! Of course Marco is sold out of that transformer! But I'm on the list when they come back in. I'll have to get back there and tinker with that wire form. It seems to go back there and just bounces off or just makes a left turn once the ball bumps the wireform.

#1292 3 years ago
Quoted from bobukcat:

The Acrobat shot is a tough one for sure, is yours not making it up the wireform / ramp at all or is it flying off at the top? The bottom of the wireform bolts down through the PF and you can achieve some level of adjustment there but it's also possible to not get it properly inserted all the way down into the playfield when re-installing it. Getting the guides / airball protectors at the top adjusted just right is tricky and takes a lot of trial and error. Also make sure the right diverter is closing completely and that it makes for a smooth transition from the ball guide on the right loop.

Well it took some tweaking of everything the ball hits and runs along going back there but I think I finally got it!

Added a little bling to CV today. Found a local chrome plating shop does beautiful work for a great price. Looks like 2021 is going to be expensive! I can see this snowballing and I'll need sunglasses to play my pins soon.

Pulled my Ringmaster for some cleaning added a led strip in his head that lights up nice and got one of those stickers for the bottom of the Ringmaster says jackpot. Cleaned up my subways as well I wanted to mount some leds in the ringmaster area to light it up but ran out of ideas. Anyone do that? If so what's the best way to do it.

Quoted from bobukcat:

Does yours not have the flashers inside the Ringmaster or do you mean you want to light up the scoop underneath the Ringmaster?

Yes I have the flasher inside and did the 3led purple strip in his eyes but I wanted to light the area the ball drops into when the he's up.
