Quoted from jardine:

For anyone interested I got Jady swinks Pinball to make the very hard to find LHS Ball bumper guide!!
Someone on here was charging way to much (as I'm in Australia so the conversion was killing the deal for me), so I contacted Jady and he got this 3D printed!! $32AUD was perfect!
Amazing work and thanks to swinks
All you need to do is tap or thread the hole to 2.5mm and then go to any hobby store for the grub screw and your done!!
Highly recommended!
So happy I can finally play and not worry about killing that guide rail or my balls.

Hi, was just checking a switch (wire ramp entry), so had to take off the rear right plastic piece. Fixed the issue, went to put the plastic piece back in, and realized the only way it fits is if I push down part of it under the big bolt under the magnet (so the plastic is bent when in position). I have to assume that big magnet bold I have is too long (somebody replaced with the wrong part?). Take a look at the attached picture, green circle (plastic is under pressure when installed).

Also when I took it apart, the bottom nut on the big bolt was unscrewed near the bottom of that bolt. I tightened it up (assuming im supposed to)

Any thoughts?

That’s an adjustable core. There is a fixed length core which prevents this.

Hey guys are there any shops to get the high wire ramp ? The metal one with the locks ? I tried to bend my ramp as suggested, after 2 hours trying i was near to hammer this game down into pieces
I also think the roll over switches maybe work worse than the original one.

I bend in every kind of ways, also i tried to position the ramp in different ways to the post, but no success.

Any pictures of how this ramp should be placed ?

Greetings Dan

Finished my CV wall art project over the weekend thought I would share with you all! Being that I LOVE CV, but am not lucky enough to own one, this is my fix

First I needed to make some rails to mount the playfield to in order to prevent warping and I need an inner flame that I can mount the larger frame to.
totan-14 (resized).jpgtotan-14 (resized).jpg

Painted and used existing holes to mount the inner frame to
totan-12 (resized).jpgtotan-12 (resized).jpg
totan-13 (resized).jpgtotan-13 (resized).jpg

Now starting to get the outer frames measured, cut and laid out
totan-11 (resized).jpgtotan-11 (resized).jpg

And time to stain the wood!
totan-15 (resized).jpgtotan-15 (resized).jpg

Wood frames mounted up!
totan-16 (resized).jpgtotan-16 (resized).jpg
totan-17 (resized).jpgtotan-17 (resized).jpg

So for the LED's I first use a huge piece of plastic and trace the locations of the playfield inserts
totan-18 (resized).jpgtotan-18 (resized).jpg

Then I use the clear plastic as a template to poke holes in a piece of cardboard and layout the LEDS, this is the most time consuming part.
totan-21 (resized).jpgtotan-21 (resized).jpg
totan-20 (resized).jpgtotan-20 (resized).jpg

I 3D printed some parts to fill the ringmaster, boom balloon, ball eject, and rollover switches so I can light them.
totan-19 (resized).jpgtotan-19 (resized).jpg

Parts installed in the playfield
totan-24 (resized).jpgtotan-24 (resized).jpg

Last with a little arduino code we get a real nice radom pattern that cycle 6 different modes!

If you find one, let me know. My ramp popped a weld and it would help me greatly! All I can tell you is that you want the guide to be just over the height of the ball. Maybe 1/8th of an inch? It is a fine balance. Mine will work great, then the “metal memory” will kick in and next thing you know I need to tweak it again.

Man, that redefines "Labor Of Love" ! Looks Great! But what happens if you pick up a CV that needs a Playfield?

#1561 2 years ago

Good point @whthrs166. I purposely built this non destructively! The only pieces actually attached to the playfield are the roller switches and saucers with tiny single screws! Also this playfield would for sure need to be reclreared.. the clear is not good and there is rippling and insert seams all over

I finally got my PDI glass and installed it in CV and EHOH, man what a difference!
It really looks like you could reach in and grab the ball.
First pic is with the old glass and the other two are with PDI.

So I emailed him about this problem. His answer was buy another ??? The other decals I installed same day are neat like the first day but this are garbage. Then you have to pay again for another which I’m sure is same(bad) quality. BEWARE IF YOU BUYING SOMETHING THERE.

#1568 2 years ago

It looks like because of COVID many want to sell just garbage. Look at playfield in some new pinballs. Then decals. ??? I truly recommend anyone who is looking for decals no to get them there. There is no integrity in doing business whit him.

#1569 2 years ago

What sort of prep did you do before putting them on. You must sand all previous decal and then glue residue. Then prep sand again more prep and sand again if you want really good results. If you just give a light sand and put them on you will get rippling, if you just remove old decal and apply straight on you will get rippling. If you put straight over the top of old one.....well you get the idea.

Installed a lot of decals, never once did I sand anything. Never had this type of result. Something is wrong with the adhesive on that decal. I would try heating the decals with a hair dryer and smoothing them before I gave up. You may have to "pin poke" those bubbles also due to trapped air. I would heat them and smooth then let it sit overnight. I have had some success with that strategy.

#1571 2 years ago

I left my garage door open on a hot sunny day and the heat from the sun caused bubbles all over my freshly decaled cabinet, what a disaster that was!

Same thing here weak adhesive very poor quality and I notice that from day 1. The sticking power was really poor. I te other for funhouse adhesive was way stronger.

I had a poor experience with him years ago, bought a bunch of PDI glass (which is $$$$) and most of it had imperfections that were very noticeable. His first reaction was to say he's never had that happen and he basically didn't believe me. Then it was discovered by other buyers picking up in person that most of the batch he received from his supplier (in Germany) had the same issues but he wanted ME to pay to ship the bad product back to him. Shipping glass is EXPENSIVE so naturally I pushed back on it. We eventually worked something out but I'll probably never buy another thing from PDII.

I can see now very clearly. He is a real piece of work Scamming people all over. The decal he sold me was oversized by about 5 inches Which is tot normal. He like to screw peoples whit his products. Whit I think he get the left overs or defective and sells them as “good quality” A real prick

I think we should open a new tread about suppliers who sell bad parts And keep everyone updated about what they do. So no other get scammed again and has to pass by bitter experience.

I was wandering if anyone has experience
Swapping a IPB playfield in a CV

These seem to sell for pretty low prices.
Much cheaper than new pfs from germany.
I am thinking of buying a IPB, do a reclearcoat and install in my machine.

But before i do i would very much like
To hear some opinions, cons, pros..

Much appreciated

I bought one of these 10-15 years ago. Sat under the bed until Covid gave me some time. Pf is great, only thing missing was all the dimples. I had to do lots of measuring. I am pleased with the pf.

Mine has a pink Join the Cirqus on the pf.

I got one of the no cleared ones about 12 months ago. Had a few areas that needed attention before I clear coated.
I finally installed after 10 months of curing. I found most of the dimples were there on the bottom. Locater holes for the VUK were missing. Had a few holes missing on the top and even wrong sized holes for rails and the diverter.
After a bit of work the end result is wonderful.

I read something about the timber they used for these playfields is not the best quality.. does anyone know anything about this?

Hi. I’m a contractor here So. Before the usually cut the wood let it dry then it was proceeded to do anything in the lumber from playwoood(playfield are made from plywood ). To moldings or other parts. Since the wood was already dried most likely it will never bend. Now in this day they cut the wood and it gets processed right away (still moisture in the wood). And it will dry thru the time. New playfields in many new pinball have this problem. Although still playable. If the ipdb playfield you’re getting is flat that’s a score Good luck.

Might join the club. Anything I should look out for when checking this pin out? Not sure if there are “impossible to find” parts or if everything is pretty accessible

#1594 2 years ago
Quoted from CaptainNeo:

Holy crap, that thing is rough as shit. I hope you got it dirt cheap. It's going to take a lot to get that going. If you paid more than $2500 in that condition, you paid to much.

BTW, I’m reading through the thread and thought this was a funny read. Anywhere near $2500 today would be the sale of the century

#1595 2 years ago
Quoted from thechakapakuni:

Puh...hard question...

There are many thing in this game that are hard to find. First of all the white tube for all the G.I. lamps from the backbox with the cannon coil on it. The coil often breaks the white tube into pieces. A new one really hard to find !

Check this game also for ghosting around the inserts, it is normal on a CV but shouldn't be to bad.

Check for wear around the roll over buttons and that there is not a layover hiding the wear, also check for wear around the ringmaster and the jet bumper.

Inspect all magnets, the normally get flat over time and get the wood around them damaged.

Check the legs and if they caused some cuts in the cabinetdecals.

Ask for the original scrolls, they are also not available all time.

Check the plastictrim around the backglass and the white tube, these are CV only and also not easy to find.

At least chech the spring of the ringmaster, it can easily break over time.

I think this are the biggest ones...

Greetings, it's my all time fav game.

Daniel
