Quoted from whthrs166:

Yeah these issues are typical on not just CV but all of the Williams Bally games. My CV had a cold solder joint on the light board behind the Ring Master which caused the center WOW target light to wig out now and then. Not the easiest one to get out. I was fortunate that I had a new magnet core for my Mini Play Field and installed it on mine.

When I got my CV I sorted out all kinds of issues. Then I thought it was 100%. After playing it for months I realized that none of the WOW inserts lit up. Every single solder joint on that lamp board was cracked from countless ball impacts to the targets. I just reflowed all the solder and it's been perfect ever since!

Quoted from xfassa:

Anyone else purchase a repro insert body from Planetary Pinball? If so, does it look like mine? I can't get the trim pieces to stay on as the repro is trapped at the edge (opposed to the original that lays flat at the edge). The repro tapered edge "pushes" the trim piece off when trying to install it. Any ideas? Thanks.
[quoted image]

Had the same issue. I put two sided tape between the trim and the body. It's not perfect but does the job.

Thanks for the feedback!

The problem is caused from the sloping edge around the insert body (see photos). The photo shows the new insert body butted up against the old insert body. I placed a piece of blue tape on both pieces to highlight the slope difference. The old insert body has a steep slope and a large flat landing near the edge. The new insert body has a much more gradual slope and no landing near the edge. The steep slope allows the insert body to fit into the back box and the flat landing allows the trim to snap over the edge.

FYI. I used the doublestick tape without the trim installed and it still wouldn't fit.How did you get it to fit???

Hey guys, anyone installed a Cliffy in the shooter lane? I bought the one shown from Pinball Centre because they had the metal one for the Ringmaster.

Have I bought the wrong one or has the post for the shooter lane gone in the wrong spot...I'm guessing the former!

definitely the wrong one.

So I am going to install a complete rubber ring kit on my 09 HEP CV. The rings that were put on it have been on now for 10 years. (It’s Time) I have the traditional white on there now and I decided to go with the Titan Translucent. I created this kit on the Titan site and it is saved in their database. (Very Cool) I chose the Translucent because of the way my led colors interact on the white rubbers. I think the Translucent rubbers will Colorize with the light play! We will see. I will post up my pics and summation.

#857 4 years ago

Here a few pics of before and after. It definitely was time for the change.

Curious to see what those look like with the lights on. I went with purple Titans a while back and they looks great.

#859 4 years ago

So after the Translucent rubber retrofit, my summation is that I got just what I was hoping for. What now looks like illuminated rubbers. The light play from the leds onto the rubbers. My sling LEDs are color changers from Cointaker. The rubbers look like they are changing colors! I decided to stay with my Green flipper rubbers though. I have an apron LED strip that is green and it really illuminates the flipper rubbers. I instead used the translucent flipper rubbers on my MB. And at the risk of Pinball sacrilege, I will show the pic of the MB here to illustrate the translucent color play of the LED strip.

Does anyone have an extra high wire, wire ramp they would be interested in selling? Mine has a welding issue and I'd like a backup before I attempt to fix it.

Joined the club today. Have a little bit of work to do (small adjustments, rubber replacement, etc), but this is one of our dream pins. Will no doubt have some questions for the group as we explore this thing

Oh!! Blue Neon! I’ll trade you my red . It is literally the only thing I don’t like about my game.

Picked up some goodies for my CV and finally got around to installing them. Pinstadium lighting I picked up in Texas at the Texas pinball festival this year and this weekend I scored some original metal mirror blades for $40 bucks brand new at Pinfest in Allentown. One thing is for sure it's super tight getting the PF up now! Here are a few vids I took. One with mirror blades and then one with the mirror blades and pinstaidum lighting. One thing is for sure, the ball can't hide anywhere now! I think the folks at the space station saw my lighting. Sunglass don't have anything on this CV now!

Very pretty!

Kind of miss my Circus V. With the way the market is I'll probably never find a decent one again.

Yea these prices are nuts anymore. It took me over a year of non stop searching to find one under 5K in nice shape! CV and Creature are my favs!

#869 4 years ago

Thanks! Next up is chrome side rails and chrome lock down bar

#870 4 years ago

I had another one lined up but it was such a wreck that there is no way I'd buy it. Supposedly some one snatched one up missing a bunch of mechs, boards, dmd, and beat to hell PF, water damage cabinet to boot. Not a good deal at the price they paid. Sad thing is I had to think about it for a minute.

Can anyone confirm the connector J113 is not being used and J114 is?

My CV shows the wires for J114 (reading from the manual) are in fact connected into J113...or am I reading this wrong?

My next thing to do is change all the rubbers on this beast. I have heard good things about Titan so I am going to try them. Want to stick to white as I think the original colours looks best. Not one for going purple, blue, translucent...etc.

Can anyone confirm if they have bought the kits from the Titan site and any sizing issues? I've found this which gives a pretty good explanation of why they added or changed some sizes so was going to go this: https://www.titanpinball.com/kits/index.php/view/id/575

That is my kit, so I know it works . I added rubbers for all of the posts which stick up on the upper plastics. I guess they are decorative but I felt like they looked better with the color contrast.

For my own kit, I used the purple post sleeves which I felt looked nice and not super noticeable.

I feel like I discovered a flaw in my documentation last time. It is the right ring sizes, just the incorrect placement. I can’t remember if I fixed it. If you see anything weird, let me know. Also I have a high quality version of that image if you want it. Titan down samples it pretty bad.

Thank you for the reply! It's why I choose this kit...seemed to be the best when it came to explaining why you did what you did!

I'll order through our local distro and make sure to rate it so it might help further purchases.

Morning CV, I am officially a CV owner. After buying and selling what seemed like a 100 games. I landed a gorgeous CV at a decent price.
The mods have began, Green Under Cab, trough and flipper buttons have been installed. I installed a cointaker color changing shooter rod, that looked amazing, but its dead now. The front washer hit the auto plunger and killed it.
Next is going to be Titans, I am thinking about doing the glow in the dark. I did the GITD on another colorful game and its great.
I also got the reception bell for the backbox.
This was one of my top 5 games if not the top game on my grail list.

#880 4 years ago

Don’t bother buying another one. I went through 4 of those before I finally gave up. Always wanted a Mind Orbit shooter rod and it was a nightmare.

#881 4 years ago

Congrats! I did GITD flipper rubbers on my SS. Very Cool.

#882 4 years ago
Quoted from JONESDS:

While you are tweaking it. If you are having problems with the ball rolling out of the juggler, make sure the clear triangle plastic is pointing towards the juggler lock. If it's not, you can experience some roll outs from the juggler lock. It's hard to describe so I put a red line along the edge of the plastic in the picture, hope it makes sense.
[quoted image]

Thank you for this!!! I have had serious roll-out problems in the juggler area. Checked the little clear piece of plastic you outlined in the picture, and sure enough it was flipped. So i flipped it to sit just like in your picture, and i actually thought that looked wrong, and could cause ball hangups. But when testing it with the glass off, i must have (by hand) launched 30-40 balls to the juggler area. And every single one of them landed in the first juggler saucer like they were supposed to. No hang-ups, and no roll-outs!!

Now i just need to see if i can make the game a little steeper again, as i decreased the angle quite a bit to avoid the roll-outs from the juggler. But even this never fixed it 100%. One in five or six would still roll out.

Every CV owner should check this vital little piece of plastic and its orientation. I was considering buying the pinbits Bounce Defender, but due to customs and shipping price i never got around to. And now it seems i don't have to!

Could somebody please take a couple of side view photos of the spoon switch + lamp terminals stack on the boom balloon assembly?

I'm replacing the spoon + leaf switch, but the other spacers & lugs/diode for the pop bumper lamp are also stacked with the spoon/leaf assembly.

Tricky (for me, at least) to replace just part of this stack & keep everything else intact & in order & such, including keeping the spoon at the correct height relative to the bumper wafer shaft.

For reference, p. 2-27 from the manual (p. 133 of the PDF).

Thank you,
-Jason

I’m traveling today, but if nobody posts pics before I arrive home, I’ll post pics this weekend.

#885 4 years ago

Oh, and for anyone with advice: my ringmaster has stopped ringmastering (no up/down movement, failing movement and switch tests). Does anyone have advice for low hanging fruit to try before I go deeper to identify the issue. I have an extra motor for it, but don’t want to go to the effort to install if this is could possibly be a quick fix. Thanks!

#886 4 years ago

Check the flasher fuse first if your game is using the wpc-95 Power driver board. If you are using a Rottendog power driver board there is no fuse and it could be U20. If you have either of these two conditions be sure that the Ring Master flasher has not shorted to the post. Beyond this it could be your Motor drive board or your motor. Not likely though the motor/drive board are pretty tough.

#887 4 years ago

Does the motor run and there’s just no movement? That happened to me and it was the set screw on the shaft that came loose so the motor spun but nothing happened.

#888 4 years ago

Thanks, Rozeks.
I got it back together. A little trial & error & leaf switch tweaking & all's well.
So, no need for pics.
Thanks,
-Jason

Ok, glad to know, and thanks for the follow-up! (For those following, I wound up not having time to try your excellent suggestions to to diagnose my ringmaster issue, but will be doing so this weekend. Thanks for your advice!)

Can anyone confirm the pins bottom right hand side of the driver board please. Need to confirm pins J124, 125 and 126 please.

I have 124 spare but a mate has this in??

Is anyone interested in a new neon tube? I am about to get a purple one made because I just never liked my red that much. The local guy quoted me like $140, I bet if a few other people wanted one we could knock that down a bit.

I figured I would at least throw it out there in case someone was looking for a change .

I actually just realised that while yours are in the same location, they are upside down compared to mine!! Man!!

Anyone else have a pic?

Anybody have a spare 04-10253-1? The bracket that holds the blue rubber block to the right of the ringmaster.
They seem to be unavailable anywhere.

My machine has the mirror image part, 04-10253. This is dorky, as ringmaster orbit shots that enter on the left bounce off it on their way out the right. Doy.

Oooh, please tell me a bit more!

If you've got the P/N or manual details handy, or can just at least point to where it goes on the machine, then I can do some digging to find the deets.

Thanks for the tip--In my recent search, Pinbits was one of the many places I'd found that was OoS/Discontinued on this P/N. I contacted Pinbits & got an instant response telling me that Marco has them. Nope, Marco has the mirror image part. I then pointed this out in a follow-up to Pinbits. No reply yet.

The LOTR is reversed. I modified it. I drilled a hole in the bracket and used a pop rivet to mount it. Works great.
