Lol!
So will It be re-remade?
As i was away from pins for a year, i don’t know if there is something new.
It is one of the funniest game in my book.

There are long shot speculation on it but my guess is If it will be Many years.

I wouldn’t bet on it. The Pinball Circus will be remade before BBB gets a SECOND remake.

Technically yes. 10 plus years ago by Gene.

How difficult was the color dmd install on your BBB? I need to do mine.

Pretty straight forward like any other color DMD upgrade. Their kit is step by step and the end result is Awesome on this game.

BBB thread needs some love... Recently decided for my older eyes BBB was just a bit to dark and the art a bit to nice not to see. Wouldn't even consider any stadium lighting so I opted to convert over to LED lights. As anyone that has ever tried to convert a Capcom game they Hate LED lights. Flickers like a lightning storm worse then any game I have ever seen. I added the OCD board and Wow it looks incredible now. Lights dim perfectly just as original and the playfield has just the right amount of light without all the power and heat. Really glad I converted over its like a new game. Minor note, while the OCD was rather simple to install the board mount to game hardware and detail was Less then close. Not major just an FYI if anyone makes the jump. Amazing game.

The Capcom OCD board info is great to hear. I've been really hesitant to to switch over (on Pinball Magic) due to Capcom's awesome smooth fades with incandescent bulbs.

For Pinball Magic I agree with you 100% - if you simply install non-ghosting LEDs you lose all the cool lightshow effects.

OTOH, BBB has far fewer such effects. I've owned my BBB since 2010 and after they came out, I switched to the non-ghosting LEDs that Scott Danesi (or was it Scott Torpe? sorry, I can't recall now...) concocted for Pinballlife (called Ghostbusters I believe) and they were legit. Initially, I used them everywhere but later I put some Cointaker Premium 1SMDs into the darker 'GI' areas (like, mostly in the rear of the playfield.) But, what I found was that while brighter, they would flicker at the end of ball (I believe) where they do use a slow fade effect. That said, I quickly learned to ignore it because the trade-off was worth it. The machine stayed that way for a long time until herg came out with LED-OCD and I saved up my pennies and bought one.

Even after installing the LED-OCD I really wasn't motivated to swap out the 1LED non-ghosting bulbs I got from Pinballlife, it was just that Herg's board simply made everything better overall and definitely eliminated the flickering of the Cointaker bulbs. So, I ran that way until just this past month when I finally got off my ass and re-did all the LED lighting while I was on a roll that originally started with the installation of a ColorDMD and ultimately culminated with a full rubber-ring replacement for the Titan glow-in-the-dark ones, plus new rubber posts, and the LED work.

So, I think I'm done. This machine looks fully modernized now. All the bulbs in the GI have been replaced with Comet Pinball's awesome OP-Max bulbs in Sunlight-white. For the inserts, I repurposed some of the Cointaker Premium SMDs that were in the GI and put them in white inserts, then finished the complete swap-out using more color-matched 1SMD bulbs. Note that all flashers are still incandescent, which I'm cool with. Overall, I'm really pleased with the results and I am convinced that this wouldn't have been possible without Herg's LED-OCD.

As an aside, if anyone is interested in my newfound surplus of non-ghosting LED bulbs that I just pulled out, send me a PM and I'll make you a deal.

Here's what the playfield looks like when you get rid of the incandescent bulbs... check out the true colors of the small inserts in front of Ray's ball-Busters and in the back which spell B-A-R... for the latter, I never knew they weren't orange:

Man that looks good - maybe some day the rest of us will have a chance to own a BBB

Good work - it looks awesome!

That’s where the custom brass name plate goes instead of a card.

Good work - it looks awesome!

For BBBr, I was thinking about the improvements I'd want to see. The game and art is already very good so I wouldn't value added 'rgb' lighting or a topper as much.

Instead, my #1 wish would be an alternate sound track and #2 would be a few improved sculpts (such as a few interchangeable dancing girls).

mrbillishere I'd be curious to know what longtime owners think Chicago Gaming should do for BBBr improvements.

Well, for me, I would have say an updated code but I think it won’t happen. However some mods would need better and deeper code

Will this game be remade? I hope so as it is great but it is not worth its current value.

Capcom Pop Bumper Caps: Are They Unique?

I'm hoping to recreate the look of the pops in BBB on another game.
The caps look a bit unique - rather short/squat. Are they unique?
Do you know of a source for them?
I checked Planetary, Marco's, and Pinball Life, but none of them lists a Capcom-specific cap. Marco's has hundreds. I leafed through the pages, but I didn't see any that truly matched what I see on this machine.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Thanks, LTG, for the suggestion re: BriteCaps, but I still need to know where to find the distinctive BBB pop bumper caps. They have a single "step" on the side and are fairly low-profile. I've seen them in fluorescent orange/green, but they are NOT included with the dress kit sold by Pinbits. Bill, the owner of the gorgeous example pictured, says he used Cointaker's dress kit, but I see no such kits there any longer. If I can just score some of the caps, I will duplicate what Bill did.

Correction: I'm an idiot. They were Pinbits. I came clean to Jason.

Funny because while I have been able to hoard a few spare parts for BBB, I don't recall ever coming across spare pop bumper tops. Whodathunk?

Any spare wire forms? Those seem seriously hard to source

No sir. Nothing that major, other than boardsets from PSPA (?) In AU.

Other than that a el-arrow and a main ramp came up on eBay but that's the extent of it.

I'm working on a 3D reconstruction of BBB. I'll still searching for better Aliens (best would be a 3d scan)...

Putting this out to the BBB owners here.

The original owner of my BBB changed out the green alien tube dancer with a skin-colored version that IPB apparently made and sold when the games were new.

The original green dancer is unobtanium and people who have spares are hanging on to them or asking crazy prices for obvious reasons.

If anyone has a lead on an original green dancer replacement or knows of someone who may be willing to part with an original spare - please LMK.

I really want to install the original dancer in my game.

PM me if you have or know if any leads. Thanks ...

Looking for some advice on the tube dancer. Mine started to wrap around the pole and contort herself pretty badly. She didn't tear, so I'm leaving her off for a while and hoping she'll slowly return to her molded form. It looks like the belt/undies broke either due to the wrapping or causing her to wrap around the axle. I've got a new belt on order and am wondering how to prevent this from happening again. I'm considering lubing the axle to reduce inner friction. Has anyone had any experience with this problem and how did you approach a solution? It's tough to see how it doesn't happen more as the shaft continuously rotates fully 360 when tube dancer is lit. I'm fortunate enough to have a couple spare dolls if mine is roached, but only want to tap that reserve if absolutely necessary. Looking forward to getting Betty back up on the MainStage.

I’ve heard this is due to the tube dancer’s plastic breaking down over time so she kinda “melts” and thus twists around and such

I need to replace a flipper assembly for a Capcom Big Bang Bar. I can’t seem to find any Capcom flipper parts anywhere.
Can you use Williams flipper rebuild kits from pinball life? I never worked on one before. The plastic linkage on my upper flipper snapped in half so I need to repair.

You'd have to modify the return spring part of using a Williams plunger assembly.

It would be nice if stern made remakes of BBB. I know Capcom is always looking for ways to make a little extra money. It's unfortunate how limited of machines were made both times. Awesome for collectors! But I'd like to get my hands on one as well :p

#79 3 years ago

The rumors saying that WMS bought Capcom pinball and its rights.
The idea was to make BBB with WMS parts.
WMS rights were bought by Gene Cunningham, he also remade the BBB.
Rights went to PPS. So it is on PPS to decide what happens with the BBB rights.
The chance that PPS passes the rights to Stern ... mhhhhh.

At least is BBB a very nice machine of the early 90s.
It is fun with nice sound and animations but at the end, it is a 90s pinball machine. Not bad but also not a highlight of this area.
But I am also looking forward for a remake, same for Kingpin. Never played it but sounds also like a very nice game of the 90s.

https://www.rtbb.com.au/
https://www.pinballspareparts.com.au/ in Australia has all the capcom parts. That’s where you can order linkages and such. I’ve been told that it’s best to order extras to save yourself on shipping when the others inevitably break

so there is a BBB club !
I hope there are still hypes for this pin. Not a lot a going for sale so maybe it's a good sign that it's really a keeper.
Yes BBB is a really nice pin, I think a lot of innovations for its time. The art is great and the gameplay is fun: too bad there are not more owners for this pin.

what is the best option for a spare tube danceur? it seems that this part is really hard to find.

This game is amazing. Really lucky with the like new shape sample I’ve found. The seller told me it was the really first BBB production after the 10 Proto gold plate they made.

Congrats and welcome to the club.

Yes BBB was for his time a spectacular machine. Too bad that Capcom bet on the wrong horse with FlipperFootball.
For me BBB is a beauty and very funny machine. The gameplay itself is not dramatical good .. many better games are out. But the theme , the humor, the art ... very nice !!

The dancers are very rare and also NOS is now more than 10 years old and the rubber will suffer.
Here on pinside is a guy making repros. Not perfect as the original but usable. Too bad he makes no green copies. I have a blue one in my machine, better than nothing but I miss the glowing effect.

Does the 0 (Gene’s) and number 1 (for his doctor) the same with real gold plate unlike brass for the next?

Is there a backbox lightning kit for the BBB? I put a neon filter tube already and I do like the effect.

#94 3 years ago

I use a RTGB lightstrip connected to 12 Volts.
Easy to remove, great effect !
The translite now has a 3D effect on the green parts, not to see with standart lighttube.

The effect looks better in real. Really disco...

Like this:

ebay.com link: RGB LED Stripe 5050 SMD Leiste Streifen Band Licht Leuchte Lichterkette 1 10m

5 meters is enough !

I connected it to J8 , look for free 12 Volts and Ground. Thats it.
Then you play with the remote and find a matching color with the 3D Effect.

#98 3 years ago

I’ve experinced a problem during the Multi Brawl (it happen actually every time)
During the multibrawl, if you hit the ramp quickly 2 or 3 tiles for jackpot, the the ball will go on the left with the neon tube. Then the jackpot will no more be lit, the diverter will not push the ball to the neon and the ball will go to the mouth of the drinker. The problem is: the software, during multibrawl doesn’t detect the ball is there and you need to wait for a ball search (actually step 3) to get back your ball(s).
Is there a solution to that? Is it a switch issue or software?
Otherwise, everything works perfect including the loop in space multiball.

Edit: I think I’ ve found the issue. The ramp diverter 2 was stuck and not properly working. Actually it’s in loose so I need to find a way to tighten it.

#99 3 years ago

Yes, the second diverter is tricky. In my opinion it is too long for moving with no supportbracket.

Workaround: I used a bushing for flipperfingers, cutted one side with a Dremel and placed it with double-sided tape behind the large metall rail.
So now it is no more so releaxed, much tighter.

Thanks, I used 5 washers but bushing seems to be more adpated. I do agree, this diverter is way too long without support bracket. Maybe something whish should have been fixed for production.
