Hi folks,

Slowly, and I mean slooooooowly, getting around to systematically cleaning everything inside my "Doodle Bug" machine and came across this really odd spring connection on a resetting stepper unit underneath the playfield. I believe this is the "Match" unit.

Looking at the one spring that's bent in a U-shape and connecting some armatures and I'm thinking to myself, "This can't be right."

The diagram of this unit on the Williams Parts Manual on PlanetaryPinball.com definitely doesn't show a spring being used in this fashion. And if you notice, the other two springs look nice and shiny, so I have no idea how long the u-shaped spring has been there.

Is this a factory stock connection? I'm kinda thinking someone tried to save some time/money/parts by using one spring instead of two to secure this connection...

Any ideas?

Thanks.
