Hey folks,

Almost done shopping out, fixing, and tuning up my Data East Tommy.

Got one last bug to work out.

- Game has no issues when the playfield is down.

- Auto launch and VUK coils fire repeatedly when playfield is up in either servicing position.

- I have tried this repeatedly and can say that the problem never occurs when the playfield is down.

- Note ... When playfield is up ... Entering diagnostics stops the firing coils. Then cycle to service credits section and game is automatically adding credits. Finally I cycle to switches and it shows me a bunch of closed switches including Ball in trough.

- Just for fun ... while the playfield was in the lifted full service position and it was on (and two coils were firing) ... I lifted the whole playfield up in the air (to not make contact with the metal rails inside the cabinet. Guess what? Problem stopped.

Can someone steer me in the right direction while I tackle this new problem.

Thanks

Yup.

So get this. I was gong through the machine with a fine toothed comb ... And then I noticed something. When the playfield is up ... the captive ball fall back and leans on the standup target. At the same time the ball is also leaning on the inside of the orbit metal rail. Lift the ball away from the rail ... And no repeating coils.

Then I remembered that while shopping the game I took an old piece of mylar that was suck to the inside of that rail off (to fully clean the rail).

I put some new mylar on that 1inch part of the metal rail ... And bingo I could move the playfield into any position and no problems.

Thanks for your input.

BTW ... I just hooked Tommy up to my external sub ... And Holy Crap ... This is easily the pin that shows the biggest improvement with an external! It sounds AWESOME!!!!
