Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Flash Gordon got it's "stripes" as it were....
Tried about 5 different shades of gold before I came up with this one that I was most happy with. In the up close pics, you can see how same piece can give off different look depending on flash/lighting/camera angle etc.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Damn that looks amazing. I was speaking with Tom about when I can bring mine down. You guys did a Playboy for me. Flash Gordon on deck. Can’t wait!!

Got KISS fired up for 1st time & began de-bugging it. One feature light on PF to deal with, front pop bumper switch needs adjusted & I think I have a bad original diode on the ball saver gate.

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

& as if I did'nt have enough fun with PF's this weekend, I sanded down Rob's CPR FG & cleared it after some touchups.
This one was worst CPR I have worked on. The inserts had shifted & popped up through the clear on a couple of the bonus inserts, #2 & 3 in particular. Of course that left a slight line of art missing in the black. There is a before & after sanding closeup of the affected area.
All touched up & cleared now. Will flatten it & buff it tonight along with Sorcerer & Cheetah.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Geez..glad I have a professional working on it. Good catch.

#83 2 years ago
Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Rob's FG PF cut & buffed. Still gotta clean the buffing compound out of the holes/slots.

It's like a Flash Gordon factory in the paint booth right now...... Got Tom's & Rob's back boxes shot in red. Rob's has some black stencil work on it so far, Tom's will be right behind it tonight for black & then onto the Gold.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Now that’s what FG should look like not that funky watermelon color mine was. Looks great.

Zip ties. I think an HVAC guy would have those in the tool box.

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Making a new Maple tilt board for Rob's FG as well to match the bottom panel. Could'nt put an old flakeboard tilt board in this cabinet.
I almost forgot I had removed the original PF guides/holders, so I had to make a new set of them. Still need to clear them before installing as well.
But it's looking fairly spiffy.
It needs a new rectifier.. I noticed multiple burn marks underneath the original & it has a bunch of damaged diodes. I wouldn't put that thing back into my worst enemies Pinball Machine, just a fire waiting to happen. So I'll get a new one ordered for it.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Wow!! Just wow!! Replace whatever you need to my man. Incredible work!

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Backbox got installed..... Comet 2 SMD Warm's in the GI. New Aux LD installed (still need to wire it & the LD up for LED power)
I don't have the Flasher unit for this game, I think Rob still has it up in NY.
Trying to locate some Red LED 7 digit displays for it.
Will clean up the wire routing in the backbox once the PF is installed & see how best to route everything the cleanest.
Also have new switch setting instruction cards etc to install in backbox sometime.
But other than that, this one is about as far as I'm taking it. Tom is restoring the PF on this one, so when it is done we will marry the 2 together & finish it off.
Overall this machine is the nicest restoration I have done to date, & yet I still feel there are things I could do better in the future. I'll use tips/techniques I have learned on this one that I will apply to future machines to make them even better. Always a learning experience with every one you do.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Dude….incredible work. It looks phenomenal. Yea Tom suggested I remove the flasher unit. I can’t tell you how excited I am to see it at this phase. Truly a work of art. HEP ain’t got nothing on ya ! (Sorry Chris) lol!! All kidding aside really gorgeous job man. Can’t wait to pick her up.

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Getting back at it as the Summer winds down.
Some new shop upgrades...... added a parts washer to go with my ultrasonic cleaner. The Purple Power cleaner I use in the ultrasonic is leaving a residue on wiring that sometimes makes for difficult soldering, so I am going to begin rinsing the harnesses in mineral spirits after ultrasonic cleaning. Plus I needed a parts washer for Automotive stuff I do as well, so that was something I have just been putting off acquiring for a while.
I just had a crappy benchtop bead blaster for last few years & knew I needed bigger & better for quite some time. So I bought a typical Harbor Freight blast cab & then added an Eastwood gun & foot pedal setup, full vacuum reclamation system, upgraded to adjustable air bleed external feed line system, installed a 3000 lumen LED light etc. Blasted the Cheetah apron the other night to break the blasters virginity. Then I did the display holders for EBD LE. So I'll be set for bead blasting for years to come.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Soon…..hopefully

& Tom Drum dropped this off yesterday.... Will be installing this next weekend.
My Dayjob has been running me through the ringer, multiple guys quitting over last 3 months & having to train new people. 10+ hour days everyday with no lunch/break etc. I'm mentally exhausted when I get home anymore, so my pin output has been slowed. Hopefully back on track here in another week or so at work & I can be back to more normal schedule & can be more productive.
[quoted image]

Oh yea!!! Getting close now! Can’t wait to play my first game on it.

Assembled a new set of Wolffpac red displays & played some games for 1st time on FG over the weekend. Yes the displays work fine, my cell phone camera does not like picking up anything involving LED's.
Couple little switch tweaks left & I think it's ready to go.

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Night Rider PF came off the rotisserie after the 2nd drop target was done & installed. Finished up all the wiring & do-dads that I'm unable to install on the ends of the PF due to how it is held in the rotisserie, PF rails installed, Apron painted & installed. This PF is done other than installing the spinners, which I bead blasted painted & stickered, just hav'nt installed yet, I did'nt have red pop bumper cap, will order one next time I make a parts order & then I'll install plastics after the switches are adjusted in the game. Plus I need to make another Comet order, I'm missing couple colored SMD's for this as well.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Man that looks awesome! Well done. Are you putting a new chime setup in as well ? I think the old one was kinda beat. Super pumped!!
