Wiring harness on this game weighs 1/3 what the harnesses weigh on the last few games I have worked on..
.

Good news, I got that next after the Big Game I'm finishing up.

Rob's FG Backbox got cleared & started installing new flashing. Flashing is not done yet, still have to do the back corners tonight, but this is a good start.

Started on my EK PF. This was on the back burner all Summer, getting back on it this fall. Hope to have it avail for sale (complete game resto) maybe for Christmas time. This PF got all new inserts prior to sanding for the HT, so they will be bright & vibrant colors & not yellowed as the originals were. All new braid, lamp sockets, standup targets etc. Pretty much how I do all the games now.

Oh my! That looks damn sexy!! Lol! Keep the pics coming. Love it.

Tom's FG backbox was actually originally a Viking & was missing some wood. I knew that when I did it, but never got around to replacing the missing wood until this weekend, as I kept forgetting to buy what I needed for repairs. Got everything installed & actually painted red yesterday although I forgot to take pics after paint. It's getting cleared this week.

Rob's Flashing got finished, new corner pieces made & installed, polished up the lockdown bar etc. This is now waiting on the display board to be finished & reunited with it.

Got the STARS PF back from Ron Kruzman late last week. Painted underside in grey & began populating the underside with lamp sockets & braid. Built a 3rd Rotisserie, contemplating a 4th, but I think I'll be ok with 3 at a time.

Cheetah will be done & off Rotisserie pretty soon once the PF rails are clearcoated & then EBD LE will go on that one to start populating. Seems like I'm always waiting for parts, so having 3 will allow me to be more productive on other machines while waiting for parts or paint to cure etc etc.

Little more progress on Evel Knievel. Drop target assy is done other than waiting on Wife to print out some new coil wrappers, & then I can get it installed. Got everything in to do all 5 Pop bumpers (or so I thought) & rebuilt all the mechs & then realized I did'nt have any pop bumper bases........ was sure I had 5 or 6 laying around in my parts stash, but this is what I mean by always waiting for parts. One freaking part can hold up much progress. So another Marco order is somewhere in between South Carolina & Pennsylvania.

Having flash backs to when I did my Stars after being inspired by your first Stars restore...such a fun game with the new PF, I didn't have my clear redone just kept the CPR clear, it's held up really well so far. I too went with the gray on the bottom which I think worked well. Here's how mine ended up...

Thanks again for all the Stern inspiration - always enjoy following your threads!

Cheetah rails got cleared as well. These are new oak rails that I ripped & cut, painted & cleared.

Got some topside stuff done on EK & JUST started installing the harness. I went with Blue faceted posts as I think the original white posts look awful. Still need to get some decals for the dead pops & few other small things, but it's coming along. Going to make new oak rails for this one as well. Will probably make rails for every machine going forward.

Re-re-cleared this Sorcerer PF for Tim. This Mirco just will not stop shifting the inserts. I had cleared this a while back because of shifting inserts on the original clear form Mirco.... & now it's been sitting for couple more months & they are shifting again, so I put 4 more coats of clear on it & we will wait some more to see if this thing is finally ready to settle.

I also put another coat of clear on the EBD LE PF as I felt it could use another coat before the hardtop. So it's been sanded & is outgassing, I'll clean out the holes etc in a week or so & then paint the back & install hardtop on it. I should have either Cheetah or EK ready to come off of a rotisserie by time it is ready to go on one.

Installed some more extra lighting above my 2 new rotisseries over the weekend as well as made a new "hatch cover" for my exhaust fan in the paint booth, so those extra tasks exhausted my weekend.

Plan on sanding Rob's FG display board tonight & get that ready for paint. Got another load of staple sockets in for it to start rewiring it this week.

Highly appreciate that. I'm new to the hobby (relatively speaking, 5 years is new) But I've just been working on improving my skills & upgrading equipment as I go along.

New rails on Cheetah. Can't install the tops until it's off the rotisserie. Still need to get the Titan rubbers for this & maybe make some new wire forms, but it's getting close.

Question: you were working on a Centaur, any chance you have a picture of what the ball gate mech for the trough looks like from the top? Plenty of pictures from the bottom to be found, none from the top though.

Rob's display board got painted & will begin with new braid & lamp sockets this weekend.

Tom's Backbox got flashing started last night. Still need to do the upper piece as well as the right rear corner, ran out of time last night. His board holders were in insanely nice shape for 41 years old, so I left them natural & did not polish them.

Again, this was a Viking backbox originally & the board holder locations as well as all the ground strap holes etc in the flashing are all different than a Flash Gordon, but I got it all where it needs to be. Only the Solenoid Driver board holders were in same location as the Viking.

Gary, this is only two pics I have of that mech. None from direct underneath, but the side pic might show you what you are looking for. I assume you want to see the height & the difference in height from front to back. Wish I had better pic, but that's what I've got.

On a Side note.... many many years ago I used to be into 2.2/2.5 Turbo Mopars. I had a Turbo 1 '85 Lebaron ragtop that I built up & then a Turbo 2 '89 Lebaron that went similar direction. Ported head, cam, MP injectors etc. After those cars I went onto Mopar Muscle cars, but some of my earliest days were working on that stuff. I remember seeing you on the turbo forums way back in the day, obviously you were kind of a legend in that 4 cyl Mopar Turbo arena. Funny how many people I see on Pinside are both car & pin guys.

Maddening, so close and yet so far! Thank you for the pictures, good details.

I'm trying to see the shape of the cam used to stop the balls and feed them one at a time to the shooter lane under the playfield.

Ironically the Bally parts catalog comes closest to seeing one. I'm wondering if a Data East "crescent moon" lock like Time Machine uses will work.

It is funny, bunch of Mopar guys who also are into pinball which I have noticed as well.

Still have the Reliant, its just waiting its turn in the queue.. pinball might have pushed things back a few years but thats ok.

I can help you with that. Just happen to have brought all my Centaur parts upstairs to go through them recently, so I threw this on my scanner for you. It's a hair blurry though, since the base of the mech won't allow the gate to sit right on the scanner.

OUTSTANDING!

Thank you very much.

I'm going to be building a Centaur from scratch and trying to collect as much information as possible. If I'm lucky, I'll be 3D printing the major ball trough mechs so other people can scratch build them as well.

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

No worries, that is the last piece of the puzzle I needed in my research, I think I have most everything else.

Once the playfield arrives I'm going to make a "white wood" I can bend, fold, spindle and mutilate doing experiments with various different mechs. The actual "ball shooter" itself I might utilize a Data East shooter mech like LW3 or even a modern Stern setup.

Lot of different ways to skin that particular cat.
