I am starting to experience some playfield wear around my Doc Ock magnet. Pics:

From the first pic you can see a bit of cracking at the top and not sure if its clear in the second pic, but at the top of the magnet the wood is starting to dip a bit, I believe the beginning of "mushrooming."

Any suggestions on what I can do about this?

Thanks for all the insight. I pulled the core this morning, filed it, reseated it lower, but not too low. Im going to order a new core from pinball life. Anybody know where to buy the cliffy protector above? I guess there is a small membrane between the cliffy and the core so the cliffy doesn't get magnetized?

Ordered directly through Cliff. Thanks for the help!

Ive ordered a replacement magnet core, but I filed it down and lowered it and it will not damage the playingfield any further. With the new cliffy, this area will be looking good. Thanks again for the help everyone...

Im going to try both the cliffy and the mylar. Cliffy will hide the playfield damage and maybe the mylar will protect from the curling. Once received and installed, I'll provide feedback...

Here is the Doc Ock magnet area now:

The magnet core was replaced, cliffy installed as suggested and then mylar applied over it to deter curling of the mylar as reported by some pin owners. I found a local printer who will cut the mylar circle to size, so the mylar is an 1/8 of an inch larger in circumference than the cliffy. And btw, the same cliffy will work for the Stern Star Trek magnet:

...cause I sure as hell do not want any wear there in 5 years.

Thanks all for your help on this...
