The shooter diverter on my TZ is very weak and even when it does pull it a bit it does not return very well. I am checked the coil and I am getting 152 Ohms. If that is right do I need to head up the chain and check the transistor?

Thanks in advance,

So after some digging I found the coil chart:
https://www.flippers.com/coil-resistance.html
That chart shows it should be 150.3ohms so it appears to be good.

Would a bad transistor cause a coil to operate at a lower voltage? I always though a transistor either worked or not.

Sounds like a project for tomorrow. Thanks

I cleaned the assembly thoroughly and it was pretty dirty. Now it returns really well but it still does not want to fully activate, and it does not hold.

It just needs a little Viagra...

Where do I shove it?

The action is very smooth and free now. I do not feel anything rubbing or sticking when I move it by hand.

The coil that is there is a SZ-34-3500, I have a SZ-33-3000 in my parts bin. If I swapped the SZ-33-3000 for the SZ-34-3500 would i cause a problem? The fewer wraps would make this a stronger pull, right?

I have it working. The reason I went searching for this repair is that when the multiball was lit and I would hit the left ramp, multi ball would not start. Of course the first thing I did was to check the switches on the ramp. They both worked when I tested them by hand. So I just went down the line and checked the coil. The thing is, that when you are in test mode it only fires that coil for a split second and does not hold it. After pulling the assembly apart to see if the other coil would work better I noticed the busted lock washer. Figuring that possibly a loose coil would keep it from working properly, I decided to re-assemble it and run a test.
After setting up a multi ball and then sending the ball up the left ramp I noticed that the diverter coil was not firing, that was when I went back at the switches. The second switch was good , but not adjusted properly. So the coil was good all along. I ended up adjusting the second switch on the left ramp and replacing the lock washer and it works now. It still pulls the diverter slowly, but it holds it open.
Glad I figured it out, I was just about ready to bust out the WD-40 and hose the diverter bushings down.
