Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Wow! Great work!
Are you using that propane heater inside? Don't die on us.
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Deeeep respect for the first stern pinball i actually like, the audio is just superb, gameplay is insane, build quality is perfect,i can't believe how awesome this machine is....wow...
"Upgrade your game code" <-- was dictated to me sternly by the creator
Comes with old code NIB.
Quoted from j_m_:20 pages in and this thread continues to impress. the team's energy level is literally through the roof. hat's off to the synergy the three of you seem to have
have you considered using a color dmd solution instead of the standard gas plasma? if so, I would be more than glad to lend my services in helping you create and color some animation sequences (I couldn't bear to see lapnip steal all of the thunder in assisting
Yeah... I'm just about to start cranking out photoshop images for them
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Oh? Cool?
Also really looking forward to your parcel, surface shipping is always superslow.
dang... 2 weeks now
Quoted from j_m_:I gave you a thumbs down because you are obviously a cheap-ass and should have chosen a better shipping method
respect the project!!!
hahaha.... i'ma cheap bastard
Quoted from pinballrockstar:And here i am thinking it was good for my eyes?
only if you stare directly at it for extended periods of time
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Today we have exciting news!
Labnip's package arrived!
sweet.
glad the box actually made it
hope some of it can be of help.
ps. don't fight over the PEZ
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Mic is installing "beedo" minion behind the captive ball/vehicle, the beedo sound will play if you hit the captive ball, so labnips beedo minion will be awesome over here
Yay beedoobeeedooooo
Quoted from j_m_:posting these out to the pinball amigos this week. 5 sets of 3 minion figures, each set of 3 is from a different geographic location
Copycat
Quoted from pinballrockstar:When one shoots the purple hole, the front door opens and you have to shoot the purple minion with the fartblaster and the door closes, ideal would be to have a timer running, 3 sec to shoot the minion while the ball locks in the purple hole.
most awesome
any kind of "target recognition" going on? or just pull the trigger (with it pointing anywhere) ?
http://www.keyence.com/products/sensor/laser/lv-n/index.jsp
or...
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2122
video about it:
Quoted from yoyokopter:The Fatblaster is a wonderful idea
i could use a Fatblaster
Quoted from pinballrockstar:It takes about a year to build one minion pinball,in the process we burn a couple of coils and transistors and other things, fry a p-roc board and a bunch of other miscelaneous failures...so our asking price is $75.000
It will come with a free t shirt though!
TAKE MY MONEY !!!
Quoted from Checho:I am sorry, but I am a little curious and worried too... What did you fry a P-Roc?? Thanks.
they taste better fried
Quoted from Checho:Yes, I know you have a P-Roc board.
I am from Argentina. I saw your project 6 months ago approximately, and you inspired me. Then, I purchased a P-Roc board. Since 2 months ago, I begun a customization project in a Judge Dredd machine.
I am worried because is high cost for me a P-Roc board. You said that you put high voltage at a leaf switch, how did you this?
Surely a lot of people, besides me, are following your effort around the world. We appreciate your work.
Yo have several amigos de Argentina en Ciudad de México.
¿Qué parte de Argentina es usted.
pardon my spanglish
Quoted from pinballrockstar:That is exactly what our topic is about, inspiring and showing people that 3 friends with no knowledge of programming can build a pinball and program it with Mission pinball framework.
Now over to your question:
Very simple!
Coils: 74 volt
All switches: 1.5 volts or something, very low current..
We took out the entire playfield and isolated all the contacts of everything, but after a few beers, we made a mistake and a coil wire hit a leaf switch..
What happens next: 74 volts goes into the p-roc board at a place where only switches open / close are registered with low current.
These registrations go to the processor via a few ic's... Normally, the ic's get fried and you can swap them..
In our case the ic's, a chip and the processor got fried, we simply made a massive short with smoke curtain and all.
Very cool you follow the project, if you have questions, just post it here!
Expensive lesson!
have you added a fuse in that path now ?
or just fixed problem & moved on ?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:The amigos are on holiday!
Don't worry folks.
I found them at the local bar trying to kick off their vacation.
Currently buying them drinks and luring them back to work on the pin...
Quoted from Fairground:Brilliant table! Is that a minions bottle cap remover on mic's pocket?
Or is he just happy to see us ?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Hey lap? Where is your awesome avatar?
hehehe.... Bert went on summer vacation.
Quoted from j_m_:how do you not already own a router?!?
it's smaller & wimpier. now i have router envy
Quoted from j_m_:get lapnip to send you one. he's rich, he can afford to!
ha
i could offer this for a little labnip catnip
Quoted from j_m_:where's the unicorn!!??!
IT'S SO FLUFFY!!
These are not the unicorns you're looking for...
Quoted from pinballrockstar:How about that? I am the luckiest guy in the world, surprisingly, the road show plays without hickups and is technically sound.
So cab swap time!!!
But how in the hell did this thing get sooo bad outside and is great inside?
Can't wrap my mind around that??
maybe they were mopping the cabinet?
some goofball staffer spraying windex on it each day/week to clean it?
maybe all new parts inside it after a flooding ?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Yeah baby!!!
holy moly... that upper playfield looks so amazing !!
...and then you posted pix with the environmental lights off to show it lit up
Quoted from desertT1:These are not the types of posts I was expecting today. I was looking for pictures of stuff getting done and work environments that would make any OSHA inspector nervous.
give 'em a few hours
ps. we're the warm-up act
was wondering where the goggles were going to be integrated into the apron
i could see like 2 OLED screens(1 under each goggle-eye part), or 1 long rectangle OLED.
And add code that animates minion eyes that react to the game.
Certain targets get hit, and the eyes look in that direction.
squinting,
angry,
asleep,
scared,
bored,
...
Quoted from jokerpoker:Now I just want to see a clean playfield.
Some of those stains look like Pizza !!!!
But yeah really nice clean flipper. Glad the glass fitted over that wireform.
i can spot heineken stains when i see 'em
Hola to mi Amigos across the pond,
From Mexico City this week.
Pin is lookin' dy-no-mite !!
Excellenté goggle apron action !!
Trying to figure out how to mail you this fresh Mexican Xmas minion cake and some cervezas.
In the mean time, will knock back a few cubanos and try to explain to folks what a minion pinball machine is in Spanish

Quoted from pinballrockstar:Man...now we have to wait for the movie to incorporate the new villain!?
Seriously cool there is a part 3 on it's way, very very awesome.
I wasn't expecting a sequel anymore.
Happy happy happy!
just make a sequel pin
Quoted from pinballrockstar:We are proud amigos tonight, look at this...
most excellenté progress amigo dudes
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Yes we had no clue,we only post stuff and just now i discovered the button "topic stats" on the top.
All this time we were like:" hey there is labnip again?".
"Hey? J_m_ posted something, you guys saw that?".
Speaking of which, anybody seen labnip around?
hola amigos,
sorry for delay, was in a moderator feedback thread debating some signage color choices for the up-coming texas pinball festival in march
Is this thang done yet or what ?
I've got bananas to bash & minions to light up
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Yeah man!
First we have to work but we have something to look forward to!
Quoted from pinballrockstar:We are on a roll with the dremel bit?
It copies the exact hole.
So happy with this,it is fuckin loud though
how loud is it ?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Hi Lab!
Good to hear you.
Always late to the show
yep... i was giving an investor pitch late into the evening yesterday. had to play catch-up this morning
line the under playfield edge with downward angled UV LED lights (with brightness control), and repaint lower-playfield with UV reactive colors
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Wait a minute...i see what you are doing here?
You don't want the topic to end!
You don't want us to finish the machine!!
You guys keep on throwing ideas out there and you just know we will use them!!
Hahaha
i have no idea what you're talking about
dang, the playfield looks absolutely incredible.
i forgot (too many beers), did y'all (already or plan to) put clear on the playfield?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Yeah there is an acrylic layer on the playfield,it will never wear and when it gets ugly,we simply replace it.
awesome. i just got a super thin playfield overlay (from germany) this week to put on batman66.
haven't done that on any pin before, so this will be interesting.
9:32am in Texas. So, what time is that in Rotterdam?
It's MINION TIME, that's what time it is in Rotterdam !!!!
Quoted from pinballrockstar:But as you see we now have flashers almost everywhere now so i can make them cycle real well when one accomplishes something in the game.
It was Mic's idea to install flasher domes on the slings and we all really dig it.
do the darker flasher covers (like the purple) keep the LED light from being too bright when down close to the player's eyes?
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Wouldn't that be cool..but life is in the way(and an ocean)
we need a Go Fund Me for the Minion Amigo's to get to the Texas Pinball Festival with their pin at the end of March !
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Yes it is way better than a yellow or white flashercap,i guess we'll see how the darker flashercaps pan out during gameplay.
I see your point,if it is way too bright it can be rather annoying right
Maybe if they are too bright we can stick a round decal to the top inside the flashercap so the flash will be milder.
I hope to write a piece of flashercode in oncoming days..would be cool if the flashershow cycles around 2 times on the playfield.
I am betting it looks real nice!
Thanks for your thought on that Brett.
i just had to replace some original clear flasher covers on a Super Mario Bros pin that were about halfway down the playfield and tilted towards the player's eyes. Your pic just reminded me of that. But, I like your idea of maybe adding a protective piece under that cap, if needed. I might have to cut out some mario pix in a circle shape and add those to my caps now.
Quoted from SUPERBEE:Looks like bullet holes ! hahaha. Kevin the gangsta minion !!
well... it is in Houston
Quoted from Redknight87:...
When we went to dinner last night I was showing her the final playfield pic you posted for this week's update. Explained many aspects of the machine to her and she said " wow! That is really cool!"
i showed my 'ol lady the pic of everyone gagging from the minion drinks
Quoted from swinks:I was stoked to be mentioned, had a laugh of how I was mentioned but in the end I didn't do much. Nice work to the Amigos and all that contributed
I worked my butt off on this pin.
Man... the war stories I could tell ya about it all
awesome pin !
i need to sell some more contract work so I can get out there and play this cool pin
anyone need some contract project management or software development work, to help fund my trip ?
if possible...
can y'all post some final pix of the pin?
like, full pin from front, sides, back, close ups of back-box, close ups of playfield (entire playfield, upper playfield, other sections), close ups of back-box.
thanks
ps. banana
looking amazeballs
i have shipping company coming over next wednesday to pick up. please have boxed and ready
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Incredible?
The entire checklist is done?
i was able to scroll down your note further...
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Don't worry!
Stick around!
from the photo, it would appear 2 fellows may or may not be missing 1 thumb each from the last project.
notice how their are "conveniently" hiding 2 thumbs from the pic.
if true, y'all can complete 2 more pins before you'll need to recruit more people with thumbs.
also... banana.
