Very nice job , i want one
Quoted from egyptrus:I think you've severly underestimated how many people are watching what you're doing
Yes we had no clue,we only post stuff and just now i discovered the button "topic stats" on the top.
All this time we were like:" hey there is labnip again?".
"Hey? J_m_ posted something, you guys saw that?".
Speaking of which, anybody seen labnip around?
This is a great thread not only because of the pin but because of the comradery that you amigos are demonstrating while performing the build. That is the greatest part of the hobby for many of us and most of us only get to experience it so intensely a few times a year (at shows) whereas you guys get together every Friday. That's cool! We envy that and live through you guys. Every Friday I have a beer and toast the Amigos!
Awesome work guys!
I know you are using a piece of plexiglass on the playfield, how will that effect the height of the pop bumpers and rollover switches? Maybe it will change the ramps height as well.

That is uber nice of you to say.
Indeed we really look forward to fridays together,in the beginning we could not stop till 02:30 because it really draws you in.
Plus posting everything on pinside while doing it takes twice as long to do something.
But after a while being all crap on saturdays,we work till about 00:45 nowerdays.
Way better.
This is the first long term project we ever did together normally we would flip challenge for high scores and drink some beer
Fun fact: you really get familiar with eachothers skills, you automatically take on tasks or give a task out of hands without saying a word, you look at eachother and non verbally agree on stuff.
Quoted from smiley:I know you are using a piece of plexiglass on the playfield, how will that effect the height of the pop bumpers and rollover switches? Maybe it will change the ramps height as well.
Yeah indeed, making a side note of that.
Sharp thought..it is 2 mm thick i believe.
If it affects the pops we need to sink them into the playfield a bit with the manual router.
Rollover switches are bendable,so i don't see huge issues with them, targets will work too.
The playfield on my gotle has a protector and i must admit i have been adjusting the right loop switch..it was not registering.
So playfield protector thickness indeed does affect the smooth operation of components on the playfield.
The ramp will be mounted in the protector, not on the protector.
looking awesome and I too am a little jealous that I don't have a crew of local mates to do a build, must be rewarding but also great motivation.
also one minor concern for the shooter lane (you must think him and his shooter lane) that the scallop won't have any protection so you might see accelerated wear here.
are you guys then going to put water slide word art on the inserts?

Hey Swinks,
Yeah man,what's up with you...
Are you some kind of shooterlane-o-fobe
The art is actually laminated but i share your concern.
Been thinking about it and basically if it goes crap,we can cut the shooter lane part away with an exacto knife...i think we just have to wait and see, maybe an extra mylar?
Mic is figuring out how to make insert decals with his plotter.
Every insert will have it's purpose written on it.
Cool fonts and such..
The 2 arrow inserts for example will have jackpot on them, cause the Bob targets are the multiball jackpots.
(At the moment Bob's eyes are the jackpot lights, but it is more fun if he blinks his eyes if he says something.
So that is why i added the arrow inserts over there.)
cool and currently attending shooterlane-o-fobe anonymous
I knew it would come off wrong lol
love the ideas

Hahaha..
It might hold,i mean,it is not a bally that gets 50.000 plays?
There is so much to think about concerning wear and tear....but mainly it has to perform in a way you don't need to take the glass off every game.
That makes it garbage, whatever happens, the ball must return in the trough.
That is by far my biggest concern.
It just has to perform flawless at the Dutch pinball open.
I like the idea of replaceable "clear coat", but you might want to consider making more than one because cutting the necessary holes will be a pain.
Quoted from smiley:I like the idea of replaceable "clear coat", but you might want to consider making more than one because cutting the necessary holes will be a pain.
Great plan!
Quoted from J85M:Here are some ideas for a follow up sequel pin
Oh easy pick dude!
The minionator has the backglass right there?!
Quoted from Travish:Made you look.
Thank god you were pulling my leg there Travish, you actually scared the shit out of me.
The three of us actually scanned the playfield for spongebob yesterday!?
We weren't shure
This is sure turning into beautiful game and I see the day of completion coming soon and TGIF won't be the same.
So I have to ask this ..... is there another project after this ..will there be another purpose for Friday's?

Hey Stretch!
Yeah we already have a next pinball theme in mind.
We wouldn't be buying all these pinball machines for parts.
Check out our pinball junk yard:

Let's hope we can stay focused so we won't ruin it
Quoted from pinballrockstar:Yeah we already have a next pinball theme in mind.
Great to hear ... love to see what's next but looking forward to see this one completed
Quoted from ls1chris:man this is really coming together great! i would love to seee you guys find a routed, beat up WOZ and do a charlie and the chocolate factory re-work out of it.
That could totally happen, except for finding a best up woz
Quoted from Stretch7:Great to hear ... love to see what's next but looking forward to see this one completed
We will be tooling on this one for a while, you won't believe the to do list.

hola amigos,
sorry for delay, was in a moderator feedback thread debating some signage color choices for the up-coming texas pinball festival in march
Is this thang done yet or what ?
I've got bananas to bash & minions to light up

Hey Lab!
Okay,solid excuse for your absense
Quoted from labnip:this pin is looking like pure rock & rock amigos !!
attention to detail is insane
Thanks, this is a real fun part, that is why artwork is best for last.
I hated that pizza stained playfield, but it was worth the wait.
I'm a little late on this one but that mini playfield is one of the best I've ever seen. Definitely top 5.
Quoted from GotAQuestion:I'm a little late on this one but that mini playfield is one of the best I've ever seen. Definitely top 5.
Oh? Thanks?
It is a crowded little piece of plywood indeed hahaha.
Somewhere in the topic you can find pictures of the underside of the upper playfield and it is just full with bulbs, mechanics, targets, subway ramp etc.
When i look at it,i can't understand we got all that stuff attached to it and actually got it working with the code.
It is also crazy heavy.
Bit by bit it came together and we are real proud of it.
The ball used to hang up in the upper subway a lot,but that was because yours truly made the ufo boot-ball collector the wrong way,it had to roll against gravity
So the latest version has the ufo boot collector reversed...it works great now.
Quoted from desertT1:With as simple as the PF art is, it's perfect!
Thanks DesertT1,
we figured the pin will have a lot of plastic minion figures on both playfields too(we will stage that in the end)so it is an explosion of items anyway,a superbusy artwork can be overkill in our case.
We really hope the minion pinball will breath a little soul in the end..
That maybe you can feel the fun we had building it a little.
We know there are people out there who can write awesome computer code, but you also need some luck having stuff fall into place, getting inspiration from somewhere, implementing it,etc.
We have big laughs over developing some ideas you know..and big cheers if stuff comes to live.
That , together with some code, hopefully , will give it the soul it needs.
Figured I'd start your Friday off with some Minion toys I found. Let me know if you want me to send you some

Bugsy, you found the ugliest minions in the world lol.
Man,the second one has no goggles!
It is crazy?
You can only recognise these minions by the yellow pill form shape, that is all.
Wait...i feel a hurl coming on
Quoted from labnip:is it friday yet ?
Yeah man!
First we have to work but we have something to look forward to!

what the heck? what happen to that poor minion?!? all I can think of when I saw that image, is this:
total-recall4 (resized).jpg
are those googles pressurized and keep the minion's eyes from popping out?
Wow! Really awesome to see this coming to life. I only really go into pinball about 6 months ago. I never knew building your own machine was a thing and seeing these build threads is just great! Nice work! Can't wait to see it all put together and a video of the play.
