What is that tool called you're using for the acrylic cuts?

#1763 3 years ago
Quoted from Mbecker:

It's called " figuurzaag " in dutch.
Real accurate...almost better than a lasercutter

#1764 3 years ago

Ah it appears to be called a jigsaw in your part of the world

#1765 3 years ago

Very cool project I love it!

Is that so? Did a translate online

Great work guys!! Coming along nicely.
Little worried you might have an issue with the ball launching off the top of that latest ramp and over the wireform. You may need to put some kind of roof on it.

Yeah,it needs a roof indeed, but for now we are happy the left flipper makes the shot.
Maybe something cage-like,a ballcollector if you will.
Thanks!

Omfg...the laptop i bought brand new for the minion project fell on the floor.
Now all it does is this...hardrive is broken and all data gone
I moved the minion pin to open the backbox latch at the back of gru's house and the p roc usb cord was still attached...
So i pulled the thing of its stand.
I am so lucky though to have a usb stick with a reasonably recent backup of 4 versions of my code(1 frustrating year of work).
I lost tons of data , brought it to an expert with recovery experience and he said it is done..

image (resized).jpg

#1773 3 years ago

Always make a backup...another hard lesson, iam set back a couple of weeks in code now

image (resized).jpg

#1774 3 years ago

That stinks

#1775 3 years ago

Very much so indeed
We made all the brutal mistakes you possibly can along the way.
A lot of design flaws that had to be redone, breaking things and such ....fry a p roc and breaking the laptop were the most costly mistakes

#1776 3 years ago

Been there... had issues.

I highly recommend you get use to using some kind of source code control system like SVN or GIT and store the data on something like a NAS or even in the cloud.

I learned my lesson about 1.5yrs ago when I got a crypto ransomware on my main developer box. I refused to pay the ransom.

Now I backup my source and PCB designs using SVN running on my NAS box. Then a further backup by pushing that SVN database to a cloud backup solution.

I haven't had to pull from the backup/svn yet... but it is truly peace of mind.

That is insane John..rough lesson learned there..crypto ransomware is plain evil.
But the weird thing is, shit never happens if you have a backup laying around?
Probably i'll use git in the future...to be safe.

#1778 3 years ago

Hi guys awesome work as always.
sorry for your loss ...
definitely work with GIT , plus you will be able to share your code easily with others if you want, and people could even contribute and help you

best of luck

There are various hard drive recovery services available, like this one:

https://www.krollontrack.com/services/data-recovery/hard-drive/

I assume that since the laptop was dropped, you may have a mechanical drive failure on your hands.

A few years back, someone I know sent in their drive for recovery, and that cost about $500.

A lot of choice after tearing down 2 playfields

Yeah, it must be a mechanical problem due to the impact..
But i am saving it and will get it repaired by harddiskrecovery.nl , they repair the harddrive mechanically and recover data from it in a so called dustfree clean room.
Just read that today and it really makes sense?
The disk in there ain't broken? So everything must be still on it?
But for now i need my money to buy a new computer for the minion machine.
At the moment i am hauling the one from my business back and forth...so i can move on.

#1792 3 years ago

Mic and dick are sawing with the...ehm...( damn ... what did epotech call it again?...scroll scroll scroll...) ...the coping saw!

IMG_0118 (resized).JPG

#1793 3 years ago

Meanwhile i am done drilling the holes..time to attach the porch

IMG_0121 (resized).JPG

#1794 3 years ago

The guys are really on a shitty job,the coping saw gets stuck a lot cause the plastic melts..

IMG_0122 (resized).JPG

#1795 3 years ago

Boom! Got the porch on there..great spot for a flasher under there when the minion appears at the front door

IMG_0123 (resized).JPG

IMG_0124 (resized).JPG

#1796 3 years ago

First plastic failed, so we need a new template...that is a bit of bad luck after sawing that big plastic and seeing the piece of shit don't fit

IMG_0125 (resized).JPG

#1797 3 years ago

Mic says he's got it riggt this time

IMG_0126 (resized).JPG
