It does look cool Hope it'll play well as well.
Great job.

Great job.
We hope so too, it shoots powerful, but the ball has friction from the wooden playfield, since there is no artwork layer on the playfield yet.
So there really is no telling how it will perform eventually.
It is basically about tweaking in the coil settings to get the feel right.
At the moment we are focusing on the exterior a bit, just to have a breath.
Exterior is way more fun to do.
For now we have a basic functioning game and that is awesome!
So this is the example for our backbox, we want to have the "despicable me minion mayhem" neon on our backbox house.
We had this insane idea to saw some wooden letters and vacuum form the neon sign, so it will look like a quality piece.
Add some stainless and lights behind it,it will be hard to do, but hey, let's try...
Our first attempt to vacuum form the letters for the neon.
Very exciting since we know nothing about the amount of suck or how soft the plastic should be, hilarious!
LOL, been there http://www.pinballcontrollers.com/forum/index.php?topic=1338.msg11945#msg11945
As you now see, you need to have a little bit of an angle to be able to remove the form. You may also need to add some holes to that lower plate to help the plastic pull down tight and close in the inner areas, especially if you move to a thicker plastic.
also, you need to really sand it smooth, otherwise it will leave 'grain' impression in your plastic, also if it is real smooth easier to remove the form.
Quoted from swinks:could you not apply some vaseline / oil to the letters for a easy release not stick solution ?
Don't worry, succes is on the horizon!

I had looked into that, but did not really find anyone having done that or recommending it. I had also thought about using talc, but given how it will capture any imperfection in the form, was concerned it would affect it.

would agree with the talc, I know in various industries they use release agents in steel work and concreting so figured maybe something like a smear of light colouress grease or maybe even a silicon spray
Quoted from pinballrockstar:It will be beautiful on our backbox, but next week we have to plot the decals and make some lights in there, etc.
It is a lot of work this neon.image_(resized).jpeg
looks great, very nice

You would use a product called "mold release"
You can buy it in a spray can.
Quoted from Wolfmarsh:Wow! Great work!
Are you using that propane heater inside? Don't die on us.

i trust that propane heater, rock solid, and we have too much draft for carbon monoxide to form

Hi josh,we indeed sanded the letters to have a slight angle, really helps.
We are using 2.5 mm plastic now, which is actually 0.5 mm thicker than a bally ramp.
We are real happy with the turnout,it is really a quality feel since it is real heavy plastic and not a sheet of thin crappy plastic.
So we will stick with this 2.5 mm stuff.
It also doesn't lose it's heath fast when you have thicker material.
