I just finished replacing all three reel motors and the power driver board on my W?D.

All three reels spin, but I'm having a problem with the right reel opto not reading. I swapped out the opto board with another reel and the problem didn't move with the opto board, so I'm rather certain its not an opto board issue, but I'm at a loss as to what to check next.

Another issue I'm seeing (not sure if related) is that reels 1 and 2 tend to jerk a bit during the reel test (and the optos change state as expected) while reel 3 tends to turn smoothly in test (though doesn't register any opto state change). All the reels move smooth at power on and during play.

Thanks Chris...I'll check that out. Yes, the manual is something of a mess....part of the problem I was having.

You don't happen to know if the A-17223 is interchangeable (at least for testing) with either the A-16998 or A-16998-1?
