Hey everybody,

I am a novice at pinball repair and scratching my head on my newest project. When I test the coils in my World Cup Soccer 1-8 do not work. 9-16 do work (well - 16 doesn't but I assume that's another issue to be troubleshooted separately).

The kicker is that fuse F105 is good and F104 is bad (and blows when a new fuse is installed). The manual says F104 controls 9-16 which is the opposite of how my game is functioning. Could there be a misprint in the manual?

Thanks for any advice on 1) why F104 and F105 seem to be reversed and 2) why F104 might be shorting.

Any connectors mixed up. Software doesn't lie. Go into solenoids test, stop on each coil, 1 thru 8, when stopped, hit the start button and then start pushing the + or - diagnostic buttons. This will step you htrough coil, name, drive transistor, fuse, and wire colors and pin on which connector.

I would open the coin door to open high power interlock switch, put in the new fuse, go into tests - coils, enable high power and then step through the coils one at a time, the one that blows the fuse needs attention. Bad coil, shorted coil lugs, shorted wiring, etc.

For the record - the WCS manual has a LOT of errors in it.
I can't verify the fuse/connector issue, but for the record - yes, the WCS manual is horrid.

Looked at it a little more and I'm still really confused about F104 and F105. The three pop bumpers (relays 10-12) are fused by F105.. not F104 which is the opposite of how it should be unless I am misunderstanding. Connectors are keyed and can only be plugged in one way so they should be in the correct sports. Hmm

Err sorry the bumpers are 9-11

Yup! Just did the software test and software says coils 1-8 are fuse F105 and coils 9-16 are fuse F104. However, when I pull fuse F105 coils 9-16 die. Scratches head..

Wow. I know manuals aren't always accurate. First time I heard of it in software.
